I think I'm ready to continue this Live Blog today. I've got Marx up to level 21 (he landed the finishing blow on one level 44 enemy, giving him 5 levels in a row) so he should be able to steal stuff better. Also, my equipment is mostly top-notch.
So, I'll be heading to Salamander's Breath to check out these missing pets. "Scorching Wind" is the first stage.
Aramis is following us around. He's spotted one of his pets, and it seems that it's a Zombie. Lame? What is this, Fido? Now, time to Kill Em All!
Ooh, they are higher leveled: Level 20 here. They're in big clumps, too. Ouch.
The music is pretty nice here, though, I like it.
Most of the clumps are + shaped, so I have Laharl use Overlord's Wrath, then an Ice attack from Flonne... well, never mind, she doesn't have the right magic pattern yet.
I think I'll make another character soon, because this is getting harder. Flonne died. :(
Luckily, Socrates is nearly invincible at this point, due to having absurdly good armour and the second best Axe available, that puts enemies to sleep. There's actually a lot of leveling up going on here. Etna, as useless as she kind of is, gained at least two. Eventually all the enemies are dealt with, and I get a cool 11K HL.
I'm going to see whether or not Socrates can pass another Promotion Exam. In this one, she'll have to fight three level 42 enemies (one Centurion and two Red Skulls) and one level 50 Majin. Should be a challenge, no?
I have Socrates wait a turn, and the Majin and Centurion come right to her. She almost kills the Centurion.
Sadly, the Majin does 606 damage to her, killing her with one Hurricane Slash.
Well, I guess I know what'll happen if I fight level 50 enemies!
Time for the "Column of Fire"!
Etna tells a story to Flonne of how she once had a pet, which I'm guessing was a zombie or a baby Manticore or something. King K helped her out when it was killed, and so she thinks he was a pretty fab dude.
This time, zombies surround my entire position. However! I will bravely have Socrates divert their attention and attack her and only her. She can take the punishment, after all.
She pulls a Gandalf again and takes the nearest bridge. I'm hoping to have her get to the other side, where there are no enemy boosting Geo-Panels. She manages that pretty easily, but takes a few hits, so I have her eat some super-duper Taiyaki.
Did you know that... most of the kills have been by the zombies, to their own kind? They suck.
That was... really easy, actually. I hope the next fight is a little more difficult.
Now I'm off to "Raging Earth", and I wonder why it's raging.
No cutscene this time, just battle. My whole side is covered in damaging Geo-Panels, which sucks. Also, there's a Geo-Panel line preventing me from entering the enemy side of the map, but Laharl and Punchmaster get on that and destroy it quick. This level's pretty harsh. It takes some effort, but I eventually beat it. Now for the "Crimson Plains", after a short healing session.
I'm thinking this level is the boss level. It's got a cutscene, at least.
But alas, it is not. I am disappoint.
This levels has me with a single fortified point. There are tons of zombies, but the panels they can use to fight me have negatives on them, so go me. These zombies can't do much damage, but there really are a lot of them.
This stage was easy, but fun. I'm still hoping the next one is the last, though.
"Ember of Dreams" sounds pretty ultimate.
There is a cutscene, and it's voiced, so I'm thinking this stage is either the last or at least very important.
Laharl is getting sick and tired of these mo-
No.
Aramis points out his "Masterpiece" zombie. It' blue and has green hair, so I'm assuming it's the remains of Captain Planet. Built from the pieces of all the Planeteers and a horse wiener, he is teh ultimat zombeh!!!1!
Okay, so it's a Horse Wiener. I'm guessing I can steal that. I'll try!
The trifecta, Laharl, Punchmaster and Socrates, head out and are placed face up in defence mode. The zombies that try to attack are destroyed.
It takes a while for Lynn, the super zombie, to get to me. Soon, they're the only zombie left, and I guess I can plunder in peace. I hope. I fail, unfortunately. Luckily, I have another stealing item thingy.
I toss Marx and Lynn around so that they're far away form each other. This happens a lot...
FINALLY! I get the Horse Wiener. Jeez. I'll try to get the rest of the zombie's crap, too.
I steal Hercules' Body. Now I have no more stealing stuff to use, though.
I surround Lynn the Zombie, and mash him/her to pieces. The final blow is supposed to be from Socrates' new special attack, but I forget that I took the health empowering device he had, Whoops!
It seems that Laharl has made like Ash and has caught 'em all. Aramis is thankful, and Laharl tells him to be thankful by offering his body. Etna catches that slip.
Episode complete!
Etna does her episode preview thing, and I think it's a Mazinger reference. Yeah, yeah it is.
Cutscene... thing.
It starts with some singing. Kewl.
Flonne wakes up and notices the singing, and the Prinnies are apparently drawn to it. A smarter, "Big Sis Prinny" tells Flonne not to interrupt their oddness. Flonne points out how this Prinny is totally different from the others, and it puts up a flimsy attempt at hiding its... different-ness. That Prinny seems a little weird, yeah.
Next morning, a bunch of Prinnies are missing. Laharl, being Laharl, immediately goes out to find them.
I'm not exactly sure what kind of weapon this Horse Wiener is, but I imagine I'll find out or something.
I'll go level up or something now.
