Introduction and a Little Background

Ever wanted to run your own workshop? Ever wanted to try your hand at video game alchemy - that is, combining miscellaneous items into a giant cauldron and hoping that it'll churn out the item you want and not a gigantic lump of—er, let's try not to think about it too hard.

Anyway, we're going to take a journey to the land of Arland, where the next unfortunate victim of my liveblogging skills will be one Rorolina Frixell, or, as you'll come to know her, Rorona. She's the star of Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland, a Play Station 3 role-playing game.

Arland is a peaceful kingdom that was built upon ancient ruins several hundred years ago, and mostly isolated from society at large. This hand is home to a bunch of machines that nobody knew how to use, up until a traveler settled in and showed them how they worked. As a result, the kingdom's quality of life made a staggering turnaround. As a reward, the King allowed the traveler to set up a workshop within one of the towns in the kingdom. Many years later, a girl named Rorolina "Rorona" Frixell and her master, Astrid Zexis, have made this workshop their home, but it hasn't turned out as well for them...
