OK guys, today, we're going to one of the bonus dungeons of the Underworld. But first, we buy Remedies. Lots of them. I end up with 27, which will hopefully be enough for this area.

The Sylph Cave is made of two things; damage tiles, which we Float over, and murder, which we run from. Seriously, at this point, most of the battles are not worth it. There are a couple of enemies we can safely kill though. But the ones to watch out for most are the Malboros. One of Final Fantasy's most annoying enemies, they have Bad Breath. How does every status ailment that doesn't prevent the user from acting all inflicted at once sound? Not good, I assume. Hope you like Remedies!

On the second floor of constant running, the path splits. We go north. We will have to make two trips through this place. I do three, because if I don't I risk losing a lot of progress.

On the third floor of constant running, we find a Faerie Rod. It can be used to inflict Confuse.

We eventually make our way to the Sylphs' Cache. There is some good equipment here, but it's all guarded by monsters. Which we can't run from.

Shit. At least Rosa learns Reflect. We leave one of the chests alone, as we will want to be very well prepared for that fight.

That's run one done. And I put Edge in the back row, as I found a new weapon for him, the Moonring Blade, which IIRC, allows him to have front row accuracy in the back row. The damage he's doing seems to support this.

Onto run two! This time on B2, we head south, back into B1. We find the Elfin Bow for Rosa in a secret passage here. And a Save Point. We head back to B2 and find a Mage Masher, which we give to Edge, as he can use it better than Rydia.

We go down to B3 and find the Sylphs' Home.

Wait wait wait... Yang!? Not Quite Dead count: Yang:2

We found him lying near the mouth of the cave. We've been taking care of him for a while now, but he has yet to awaken...

We do get some Cat Claws and Hell Claws, which if we wanted to, could give to Edge. However, they make his attacks weaker, as he has weapons other than fists. We'll just drop them off with Fat Chocobo, I guess.

We find a pad that teleports us out of the Sylphs' Home. One last fight to take care of in the Sylph Cave, and boy is it a nasty one. Remember that chest we left alone in the Sylphs' Cache? Now it's time to open it.

...And we come up against four Malboros. Kain falls to the initial barrage, but two well placed Titan summons kill the damned things. Rydia learns Drain and Edge learns Smoke.

We also get the Avenger, a powerful sword with three small problems; it's two handed, so no shield, it wrecks the magic related stats of the user, and it forces the user to be Berserk. Despite this, I give it to Kain. The penalties are pretty much minor when you can destroy everything with physical attacks anyway. Plus, well, look at his stats at the end of this update. He's utter devastation on two feet.

Well, after two days of me losing to Malboros, we're done with that accursed place. For now... Next time, we take on a bonus dungeon that's a lot more reasonable.

I hate, hate Malboros. At least you are done with this section of the game.

Except there is a weapon that comes from Yang later. sigh.

The important thing is that the four Malboro fight is done. Hardest fight in the game, IMO, except maybe some postgame stuff.
