another possible title is "Rube Goldberg Sequence", tell me which you like more! Also, what category should this go under? Here's the current text of the article: One small thing happens, causing something else to happen, causing something else to happen, causing something else to happen, and so on until after all of that, something (usually quite trivial) happens. Taken from the drawings by Rube Goldberg which had a ridiculously complicated sequence of events to do something as trivial as turning on the shower. Examples:
- Obviously, Rube Goldberg's drawings were the inspiration for this trope.
- The deaths in Dead Like Me were frequently caused by things like this.
- On an episode of Family Guy, Peter orders a breakfast-making machine from Japan that works just like this. After going through the sequence, all it does it shoot him, causing Peter to wonder what the point of it all was.
- The computer game series The Incredible Machine has its gameplay based on this trope.
Hello, Unknown Troper. You'll need to get known to lend a hand here.
