Do We Have This One??

This is the one where a character has a vulnerability that only kicks in when they access their superpowers. Not the same as Logical Weakness because, in that trope, the weakness is a direct extrapolation of the powers themselves as opposed to simply coinciding. In other words, for this trope, the weakness is correlative not causative. Not the same as something like Kryptonite because Superman is always vulnerable to it no matter what he's wearing.

Examples

  • If Aang is killed normally, another Avatar is immediately called somewhere in the world. If he's killed while in the Avatar State (where he's at his most powerful), the Avatar cycle is broken and no more Avatars will be born.
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer: the Mayor was 100% invulnerable to all harm in his human form and only became damagable when he turned into a giant snake demon.
