Bust chart

An image where characters in a work are lined up by their breast size

Trope
A bust chart is a picture where characters in a work are lined up by breast size. A typical bust chart only includes the female characters of a work, lined up in profile by breast size, often times displaying their measurements as well.

Bust charts are usually made to serve as a reference to help artists keep the proportions of a work's female characters consistent. However, since they can be very fanservicey they're also used as Bonus Material for fans.

Examples (by original media):

    Anime & Manga
  • One of the promotional pieces for Mai-HiME is a official bust chart featured in Megami magazine #55 of the student characters in swimsuit line in profile by breasts and with their specific breast sizes below them.
  • A bust chart by the series creator is one the artworks in a Black Lagoon artbook, The Book of Venom. It features all of the female characters in lingerie lined up from the smallest chest to the biggest and it also displays their cup sizes. Ironically for all of the attractive women and fanservice in series the bustiest characters are easily the least attractive, Flora, the overweight mistress of the Yellow Flag's upstairs brothel and the elderly nun Sister Yolanda, whose cup size is omega.
  • Volume 3 of Maken-ki!contains four bust charts. One for small, average, big, and huge breasted characters. All the characters are in their underwear are lined in profile by their breast sizes and their three sizes are in display.

    Video Games
  • In BlazBlue: Continuum Shift a bust chart appears in Makoto's section of "Help Me! Professor Kokonoe!" with a few of the female characters line up by the breast sizes. Unsurprisingly Noel is the last person and isn't happy about it.
  • Daishi Odashima, lead designer for Soulcalibur V, over twitter released a bust chart for Soulcalibur IV. All the female characters are lined in profile by their breasts and displaying their bust sizes.

    Web Animation
  • The menu screen for Miss Dynamite XXII has bust chart with its characters in their underwear lined up in profile by bust size and their cup sizes above them.

    Webcomics
  • The official bust chart for Las Lindas features just about every female character in the series including ones from bonus comics (which is a lot) lined up by their breast sizes.
  • One of the donation wallpapers for Spinneretteis a bust chart with all the superpowered female characters in their usually attire lined up in order of breast size.
  • The creator of TwoKinds made one for his female characters featuring them nude and lined up by breast size. In the interest of fairness him made similar one for his male characters, though some of the characters for the female one showed up there as well.

Ermmm. As much as I'd like to see such a trope exist, I think it might be a bit too rare or specific. I will add an example anyway though.

    • Back just before the Hueco Mundo arc began in Bleach, a size comparison chart was made, depicting all the main note-worthy female characters starting with Rangiku Matsumoto as the largest (and always shall be per Word Of God), and ending with Ururu and Yachiru. Others listed are Kuukaku Shiba, Orihime, Chizuru, Rukia, Unohana, Karin, Yuzu, Yoruichi, and a few others. It didn't take long for Rule34 to kick in and that same bust comparison chart was made with the girls without their clothes on. As the Hueco Mundo arc played out, Nelliel and Harribel quickly cemented themselves into the top 4.

^ Is that official art? I'm trying to limit this to official art.

Rarity won't be an issue, I'm gonna add some examples latter.

Sono Hanabira Ni Kuchizuke Wo has a chart (Danbooru NSFW warning!) that measures all of the couples revealed so far. Of note is that somehow Runa, a fifth grader, has a larger chest than Reo, who's in high school.

Going by the last example given, this has the potential to quickly degrade into lewdness. Though I have seen the character physique charts you're talking about. I had never seen one focused on boobs until this was posted, though. So I think you have a trope, but you need to refocus it. Make it about the charts that set up character physiques as a whole and take boobs out of the title. This is just going to attract creepiness if that's the focus.

I'm not gonna add Sono Hanabira Ni Kuchizuke Wo since it's a locked work and asking a mod to lock the page when it's launched is definitely an option.

Oh, I should mention image links are fine in the comment section but I not gonna them to the YKTTW since most of them would violate No Lewdness No Prudishness.

Web Comics:- The Miss Dynamite cartoons available on New Grounds have such a thing: it's on the cartoon Miss Dynamite XXII. There are some interesting "easter eggs", or hidden features. POSSIBLY NSFW.

This feels like a trivia item, it's not really a trope used in the work.

The chart itself is a work and it's frequently released as Bonus Material for a lot of works.

Official Fan Submitted Content are works but they're in the trivia section. Same with Ashcan Copy. This still feels like trivia to me but lets see what the Hive Mind thinks.

Official Fan Submitted Content is just fanworks like Fan Art or Fanfic that the creators have deemed official content. The description for Ashcan Copy is confusing but it seems to be about a specific process of making a work, not the work itself.

This is a specific type of work, Trivia is not a work itself about it's just interesting information about one.

You might get more out of this if you don't limit measurements simply to busts. Height, weight, any physical measurement, should be included I think. Doesn't Pokemon let you compare heights in Diamond and Pearl?

It isn't limited to breast size that's why it says "and/or height". Most bust charts however do organize there character by breast size.

So... let me get this straight. You want to include all works that have a character line-up by height, put under the title "Bust chart". Correct?

Hmm... Come to think of it that doesn't sound right. I'll limit this trope breast size and I or someone else can create another trope for height charts.

Uh, in Blazblue's chart, Rachel isn't present, there's only Noel in the last place, weeping.

"Official Fan-Submitted Content is just fanworks like Fan-Art or Fanfic that the creators have deemed official content"

You're confusing that trope with Ascended Fanon.

^ OFSC is when the creators make an official submission contest, right? It certainly sounds different from the creator finding a fanwork and then adds it into their work.

I'm thinking this would fail the creepiness test fairly quickly. MTD

    • Sam on Cheers once made a chart showing the bust sizes of the winners of the Boston Barmaid Contest. They gradually get larger, except for one which is close to the bottom.
Cliff: What's that one that dips way down?
Sam: Uh, that's the year Diane won.

^x3 Because? we have a bunch of tropes that are far more explicit than "female characters standing in order of something". See No Prudishness
