* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: The opening theme, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZIxsETZR_s Susume! Gorenger]], is a cheesy and exciting piece amped by a chorus that one can't help but at least hum along with.
** The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7Sxb-Jt1PU ending theme]] as well is a catchy tune that doubles as the battle theme.
* CompleteMonster: [[BigBad Black Cross Fuhrer]], later known as Black Cross King, serves as the leader of the Black Cross Army. An [[MechanicalAbomination alien from the Cassiopeia constellation]], he created his army of minions and androids with the express purpose of conquering the world. When threatened by a team of United Nations officers, he would order his men to slaughter all of them in the Japanese branch, leaving only one survivor from each base. He would launch various attacks on the city and was even willing to [[WouldHurtAChild kill children]] if it meant advancing his goal. If any of his minions so much as thought of disobeying him, [[BadBoss he would kill them on the spot]]. Nearing defeat, he would use the sacrifice of his most loyal general, Golden Mask, as a way to both escape and carpet-bomb Tokyo, causing untold destruction, not even caring about the death of Golden Mask. Caring only about himself and power, he would also serve as a prototype of countless, diabolical villains of the franchise that would succeed him.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Baseball Mask, a simple MonsterOfTheWeek, has become one of the series' most popular villains and has made several reappearances in crossovers and movies.
* FirstInstallmentWins: In spite of how dated it may seem to newer fans, this series is still the one that gets much exposure and is subject to many homages and parodies.
* HarsherInHindsight: Watching Kirenger can be a hit harder if one knows the fate of both the actors who played him, as the general public's typecasting of them led to financial problems and other woes.
** The suicide of the original Kirenger's actor Baku Hatakeyama in 1978 still hurts fans after so many years. Him being typecast in the part led to financial issues when he was unable to land another regular role. Both Toru Hirayama and costar Naoya Makoto worried about him to the point that the former offered Hatakeyama a guest spot in ''Series/KaiketsuZubat'' to hold him over temporarily. Ultimately, he would end his life barely half a year after Goranger had finished airing despite Makoto's attempts to dissuade his costar.
** His temporary successor, Jiro Daruma, has had it hard too. Daruma also fell prey to typecasting which led him to quit acting altogether at the end of the '80s and moving to the Philippines where he met his future wife (who was 22 years old at the time) before returning to Japan in the early '90s and fathering a son. Much later in 2006, Daruma suffered from osteoarthritis resulting in knee surgery which left him unable to move without a cane. He lost his job as an auto parts delivery man and then had to have a 0.4-inch tube inserted into his chest due to respiratory problems. Daruma's wife left him and took their child with her, leaving him with high bills and forced him to go work in handicrafts in order to pay rent. All of this wouldn’t become common knowledge until December 2014 where most of his castmates would reunite to [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments wish him]] [[AFriendInNeed the best.]]
** Kirenger being the very first Ranger to be killed onscreen would hit harder with the fact that Thuy Trang, actress for Trini, the first (in the PR continuity) yellow [[Series/MightyMorphinPowerRangers Power Rangers]], was also the first Ranger actor to pass away in a tragic accident in 2001.
* HilariousInHindsight: In episode 7, the villain Crescent Moon Mask jokes about turning Momorenger into an "Ookamirenger" (the villain was turning people into werewolves, which is what Ookami means). 42 years later, there is an ACTUAL [[Series/UchuSentaiKyuranger Ookami Ranger]] as opposed to Rangers just themed on wolves) and he's certainly NOT a villain that would've helped Crescent Moon Mask (Garu's an alien that's always a humanoid wolf, but his species is called "Wolfmen")
* OnceOriginalNowCommon: Goranger can come off as quite jarring in comparison to the seasons that followed it. Fans of newer seasons (or Franchise/PowerRangers fans wanting to get in) will be welcomed by a Sentai that features very little of the common characteristics, like giant robots or combinable weapons. The suit designs are also fairly nonstandard by today's designs, and the special effects didn't allow for a lot of the flashy attacks used on both sides these days. Everything like that that merely doesn't look as good as in the 80s Sentai that are recently getting subbed flat-out couldn't be done back then, before the series proved itself worthy of the budget for even the best 1975 had to offer. While originally ground breaking and impressive, time has not helped this series at all. The fact that it has [[ArchivePanic almost twice as many episodes as any other series]] doesn't help either.
* SpecialEffectFailure: Several. Then again, it was made in the mid-1970s, so what do you expect? For example, a lot of the weapons are quite clearly rubber (like the Midomerang and swords used by the Zolders), and there are a few shots where one can clearly see the fuses used for the explosions.
