Perhaps someone who has the episodes in question or a better memory for the show than I do can chime in on this. There's at least one episode in which the villain of the week was, in contrast to the usual sneaky, vicious, cowardly Black Cross Army bigwigs, a true Worthy Opponent, to the extent that at the end of the episode, after he'd been dispatched, the Gorengers rendered honors to a fallen foe by standing silhouetted against the sunset and giving the Black Cross Army salute. (I watched a lot of the show many years ago as a kid living on Okinawa, and this was the one moment that always stuck most powerfully in my mind.) Does this ring a bell with anyone?
