* Ross once was approached by a fan that was upset he could never paint as well as him. The reason: he was color blind. Ross then dedicated [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-ousb8-SD0 an episode]] to that fan and created a gorgeous snowy mountain with only white and grey. He did this, in his words, to show that '''anyone can paint.'''
* As stated on the main page, aside from making money with his paintings, his primary reason for leaving the military and taking up art was to ''not stop being a {{nice guy}}''. Leaving a profession that, by nature, leads to the deaths of human beings and quite often the hardening of one's personality, just to bring joy and beauty to the world and keep your smile? Gets you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside, it does.
** He didn't even like having to shout and order people to do stuff like clean the latrine as part of his military position. According to Ross himself, he made a vow during that time that if he left the military, he would never again get a job where you have to scream.
* Bob Ross was a proud MommasBoy and said so during one of his programs.
-->These are the kinds of paintings my mother likes, so maybe I'll dedicate this one to my mommy. I'm an old man, but I'm still a mommy's boy and I don't care who knows it. She's my favorite lady in the whole wide world.
* Every time he makes what he perceives as a mistake, he simply rolls with it, calling it a [[ThrowItIn "happy little accident"]], and encourages viewers to have the same approach to painting.
* Even in the face of hardship and personal tragedy he refused to give in to despair, rather seeing it as a part of life. "You've got to have a little sadness once in awhile so you'll know when the good times come."
* Platform/{{Twitch}}'s stream of ''The Joy of Painting'', started on Ross' birthday. 47,000 people coming to watch a marathon of the man's work, jokingly crying out "Ruined!" (When he starts something apparently unfitting) and "Saved!" (When he turns it into something amazing) is heartwarming indeed.
** Over three million users have tuned in at some point, really driving the point home.
** During the show's final episode, almost 180,000 were in attendance.
** After the final episode concluded, the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLO7tCdBVrA "Happy Little Clouds"]] music video from WebVideo/SymphonyOfScience began to play; a fitting end to the marathon.
** Then they announced that [[http://kotaku.com/bob-ross-will-now-be-a-weekly-show-on-twitch-1741445228 the show will be back once a week on Monday nights.]] Goes to show how long-lasting his influence is.
** Now they do Weekend Marathons, running 4 seasons with repeats from Friday at 3pm EST to Monday. The Twitch channel itself has grown to over 26 million views total, and typically averages 2500 viewers at any one point. The community is huge, and generally well-behaved.
* In [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PutvF_P4588 Season 12, Episode 8]], Ross talks about his experience with the [[https://4-h.org/?gclid=Cj0KCQiAkZHTBRCBARIsAMbXLhGZezlvhkPkYW88AUB4YiilB41TcVUi_ShCBqPaoCXiIgAjWgXK-q8aAimPEALw_wcB 4-H]] and [[https://www.ffa.org/home Future Farmers of America]] programs when he was in school. He decided to raise chickens and did well until it was time for him to kill and sell them. Bob Ross, being Bob Ross, befriends the chickens and fails the class because he couldn't bring himself to kill his new friends. Later in the episode, he goes on to say, "To this day, I won't eat anything that ever had feathers on it."
* The episodes in which he introduces his son Steve as the guest instructor always have an element of this, as Ross makes it so clear - in words, in his expression and his gestures - that he is [[SoProudOfYou enormously proud of his son]].
