Formed around two thousand years ago, the Ohsama Sentai is comprised of the five monarchs of Tikyū, dedicated to fighting off the Bug Naraku Empire with the guardian deity King-Ohger. While their current iteration has pledged their lives to the cause, their conflicting personalities and methods prevent them from truly uniting as a team.

!!!'''Equipment voiced by:''' Creator/KishowTaniyama ([=OhgerCalibur=]), [[https://youtube.com/@ChogakuseiOfficial Chōgakusei]] (Kumonoslayer)

* AncientTradition: They were founded around 2,000 years ago.
* TheAlliance: As leaders of the Five (later Six) Kingdoms, they lead an alliance of the states of Tikyū united for a common cause.
* AntiHeroTeam: While they are generally good people, they are more than willing to do some ''very'' morally gray stuff in the name of protecting their kingdoms and the people that reside in them.
--> '''Hymeno:''' We are not heroes. We are warriors, clad in crowns.
* BadassCrew: While they may be a RagtagBunchOfMisfits who bicker to no end, they are an absolute unit in-and-out of suit when they put aside their differences and work together.
* BerserkButton: Attacking their kingdoms or the people who reside within them is a quick way to bring down their wrath on you.
* BigGood: They each ruler over one of the kingdoms that make up the world of Tikyū.
* BroughtDownToBadass: For the majority of their time on Earth, the Kingohgers(sans Gira) are unable to transform, yet, are more than capable of cutting down much of the many Zorima that come their way before regaining their ability to transform again..
* TheChainsOfCommanding: Argubly inevitable, given the core of the story is all about the protagonists as monarchs and all of the responsibilities, demands, and struggles their position force them to navigate for the sake of their kingdoms and the people they must look after. Episodes 10, 25, 28, 29, 47, and 48 in particular explores this as a whole for the team.
* ContrastingSequelProtagonist:
** The [[Series/AvataroSentaiDonbrothers Donbrothers]] were an incredibly unorganized DysfunctionJunction who were mostly comprised of normal people selected by Taro's adoptive father as the latest in dozens of candidates. Meanwhile, four of the Ohsama Sentai are of royalty and leaders of their own kingdoms as the latest in a long line of warriors, with Gira being a self-proclaimed one at first unlike Taro's genuine role.
** The [[Series/KishiryuSentaiRyusoulger Ryusoulgers]] were a group of knights hailing from a HiddenElfVillage on our Earth, while the Ohsama Sentai are royalty from an [[FictionalEarth alternate earth]]. Both teams have auxiliary mecha that serves as their companions, but while the Ryusoulgers were themed on dinosaurs, the Ohsama Sentai are themed on insects.
* CostumeEvolution: Most of the monarchs change up their outfits after the TimeSkip.
** Gira wears a military-style outfit akin to Racles' outfit.
** Yanma's top underneath his jacket sports a completely new design that incorporates a set of chains along the front side. His jacket subtly incorporates more pink by way of the zippers on the left sleeve.
** Hymeno typically wears a darker yellow dress without a petticoat and gloves that are longer in length.
** Rita wears a shortened version of their trench coat. The ends of their new jacket feature long chains akin to the zipper chain on their collar.
** Jeramie wears a white and gold cape on his left side, while his right side sports a shortened sleeve that exposes more of his chitin arm.
* CostumePorn:
** Befitting of their status as royals, their civilian outfits are incredibly flashy, with their styles reflecting what kingdom they are from. Some of them also have {{Unlimited Wardrobe}}s, with costumes frequently changing based on the context (Hymeno's numerous gowns, Yanma's bulkier jacket in place of his CoatCape in formal events).
** Their ranger costumes are also based on royal guards, with insignias on their chest and capes hanging off of their left shoulders.
* DeadlyUpgrade: Courtesy of Yanma's Supercomputer, the monarchs can attain a SuperMode that gives them weapons and appendages based on their respective Shugod. However, it proves to be so damaging to their body that it leaves the whole team aside from Gira in bandages and near death. [[spoiler:The upgrade was quickly shelved due to Yanma upgrading all their weapons with ImmortalBreaker powers, which Racles scammed Dagded into giving.]] They also obtain the King's proof shortly after. They only ever use it after this for dire situations.
* DeconReconSwitch: At the beginning of the show, the ''King-Ohgers'' could be considered the least Sentai-like team thus far, even more so than the [[Series/AvataroSentaiDonbrothers Donbrothers]] from the previous year, as due to their status as monarchs of their own kingdoms, there was a lot of self serving plotting and outright backstabbing in order to give their respective nations the best advantages possible as they are only united by the circumstances of their situation rather than any true commonality. Over the course of the story however, the team would develop a unique but true to form TeamSpirit that proves that they work best when they are able to put aside personal ambitions for the sake of was is best for the world overall. [[spoiler: This is proven best when a second Fury of the Gods arrives; because that they are to truly unite for a common goal unlike the previous monarchs, the King-Ohgers are able to be properly prepare Tikyu against this cataclysm to the point there are zero casualties this time around.]]
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu: Yes, the monarchs did, in fact, point a metaphorical middle finger at the psychopathic EldritchAbomination manchild alien who treats everything and everyone else as disposable toys. And they got away with it. This leads into...
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: ...Why yes, the monarchs ''do'' in fact [[spoiler: destroy said EldritchAbomination by growing the same size as him, which is ''universe scale''. Bonus points for actually punching him so hard that ''reality itself is broken through.'']]
* DismantledMacGuffin: It is revealed each emblem the monarchs carry holds a piece of a great power known as the "King's Proof".
* ElementalPowers: The King's Proof grants each of the monarchs powers that relate to their country of some sort. Jeramie ironically notes in #45 that these powers can destroy their countries if they aren't careful.
** Yanma: Electricity that could destroy all of Nkosopa's technology.
** Hymeno: An energy blade capable of draining the life energy of any living thing, even including immortal beings.
** Kaguragi: Fire that could burn down all of Tofu's crops.
** Rita: Ice to judge regardless of guilt or innocence.
** Gira and Jeramie both avert the trend, as Shugodom's portion of the King's Proof is in the form of the Ohger [=CrownLance=], while Jeramie's is responsible for his immortality.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: All of the monarchs have markedly different hairstyles after the TimeSkip.
** Gira styles his hair in a middle part while the red streaks in his hair are somewhat subdued.
** Yanma has dyed his hair blond, simultaneously getting rid of the previous blue dye.
** Hymeno switches to wearing her natural hair in a caramel blond with orange or red ends, typically wearing it in a half-up, half-down hairstyle.
** Rita has cut their hair into a short bob.
** Kaguragi has opted to wear his hair down, styling a small portion in a top knot. His hair has also gained a significant amount of gray.
** Jeramie wears his hair in a side part on the left side.
* {{Expy}}: They are the closest ''Super Sentai'' counterparts to the [[Series/KamenRiderSaber Sword of Logos]]: an order of sword-wielding chosen warriors destined to fight an ancient evil, complete with medieval motifs and settings.
* FinishingMove:
** By pressing the switch corresponding to their respective colors on the [=OhgerCalibur=] and pulling the trigger, or hitting the emblem on the King's Weapon, the Ohsama Sentai can perform '''Ohger Finishers''' or '''Ohger Slashes'''.
** Spider Kumonos can perform these by twisting the Kumonos Keys in his weapons multiple times.
* GodzillaThreshold: The ''Ryouga Issen'' SuperMode is a massive increase in power and gives them enough power to kill one of the Galactinsects, but it causes a ''massive'' toll on their bodies. As such, it's largely unused following them unlocking the King's Proof, and only utilized if absolutely necessary.
* GoodIsNotSoft: As self-interested and quirky as they are, the monarchs are ultimately a team of good rulers trying to do their best for their people. That being said, they are absolutely ''vicious'' in battle, especially when they're enraged.
* TheGoodKing: By all accounts, all of them are good, well-liked rulers who do their best for their people. Even Kaguragi, the most morally sketchy of the team, is just willing to get his hands dirty to ensure peace rather than being a tyrant.
* HandwritingAsCharacterization: In #31, the placards the monarchs hold show characters they wrote that complemented their respective personalities; for example the delinquent-like Yanma wrote his in a jagged hand, the elegant Hymeno wrote hers in neat cursive, and Kaguragi, the leader of the [[{{Wutai}} Japan-like land of Tofu]] wrote his in a calligraphy-like manner.
* HeroicLineage: Gira, Hymeno and Jeramie are the only monarchs who are direct descendants of the six legendary heroes, with the others having either taken the throne due to the previous rulers abandoning the kingdom (Yanma), winning the throne by right of conquest (Kaguragi), or being designated by the previous ruler despite being not of blood relation (Rita).
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: A recurring theme of the Ohsama Sentai is their negative traits and personality flaws contrasting with their HiddenDepths. Notably, each of them is shown to care about and be willing to fight for their people, in contrast to the BitchInSheepsClothing [[ItsAllAboutMe Racles]].
** Gira presents himself as the [[ChewingTheScenery scene-chewingly villainous]] [[CardCarryingVillain "king of evil"]]... but it's a persona he has affected purely for the sake of taking down the ''actual'' tyrant Racles, and he often breaks out of it when startled or taken aback.
** Yanma is a rude, standoffish and HotBlooded egotist... but [[GeniusBruiser he can back that ego up]], and [[JustTheFirstCitizen refuses to put himself above his people]].
** Hymeno is a selfish, entitled RoyalBrat... but she believes that ''everyone'' [[NegativesAsAPositive deserves to be selfish]] and do things for themselves, and many of the desires she pursues for herself involve helping her people.
** Rita is a cold, ruthless judge who hands out harsh punishments... but they do this because they truly believe in justice, and to cover for their own social awkwardness.
** Kaguragi is a consummate liar and ManipulativeBastard... but he does it out of love for his country and its natural treasures, and is willing to put his life on the line to protect them.
** Jeramie is a HeroicNeutral HalfHumanHybrid that's BeenThereShapedHistory whose intensely-[[LovesSecrecy teasing nature]] lends itself to [[InnocentlyInsensitive misunderstandings]] that [[PoorCommunicationKills escalate problems]]. He also [[WarringNatures values both sides of the conflict]] and is firmly committed to ending all the fighting.
* TheLeader: An odd example within Sentai as the team in of ''itself'' doesn't have a leader, but each member of the Ohsama Sentai rules and leads an entire nation of people, with each representing at least two of the types:
** Gira is Types III (Headstrong) and IV (Charismatic).
** Yanma is Types I (Mastermind), III (Headstrong), and IV (Charismatic).
** Hymeno is Types III (Headstrong) and IV (Charismatic).
** Rita is Types II (Levelheaded) and III (Headstrong).
** Kaguragi is Types I (Mastermind), II (Levelheaded), and IV (Charismatic).
** Jeramie is Types I (Mastermind) and II (Levelheaded).
* LegacyCharacter: The main five are the latest in a long line of monarchs and warriors.
** Jeramie is apparently also descended from a hero from the same time period as the original quintet.
* MultinationalTeam: Four (eventually all six) of the team members are rulers of different kingdoms. The ''King-Ohger'' logo itself is the emblems of all five kingdoms combined.
* NiceMeanAndInbetween:
** Gira and Jeramie are the Nice: One's a compassionate NiceGuy despite his "tyrannical" behavior while the other values both major races and wants to help despite his [[ComplexityAddiction tendency to overcomplicate things]].
** Kaguragi and Rita take up the Mean: One's a heroic BitchInSheepsClothing that's willing to manipulate everybody for the sake of his kingdom while the other is [[TheStoic strict]] and [[ByTheBookCop so dedicated to the law]] that they often veer towards ObstructiveBureaucrat.
** Yanma and Hymeno are the In-Between: Both [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold generally mean well and help their people, but their massive egos make them abrasive]] and prone to competitive streaks.
* OnlyTheChosenMayWield: The Shugods choose who can awaken and use their power.
* OverlyLongName: The official name of the alliance between the six members is the "Strategic Rescue Taskforce for Extranormal Incidents in the Five Kingdoms"[[note]]五王国異様事案対策用戦略救命部隊/''Goōkoku iyōjian taisaku-yō senryaku kyūmei butai''[[/note]], as dubbed by Rita. For convenience's sake, they use the short-hand "Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger", deriving it from key kanji used in the acronym and the guardian deity's name.
* PowersViaWeapon: The [=OhgerCaliburs=] serve as their {{Transformation Trinket}}s and their sidearms in Sentai form. The same goes for the team's [[SixthRanger sixth]], Spider Kumonos who uses his Kumonoslayer similarly.
* ProgressiveInstrumentation: The [=OhgerCalibur=]'s standby music works this way, adding a new instrument to the tune by triggering the various switches on it in the order of Kuwagata, Tombo, Kamakiri, Papillon, and Hachi, before triggering the Kuwagata switch to complete the transformation. This full process is just an optional formality however, and can be skipped over by just activating the Kuwagata switch.
* {{Protectorate}}: Mess with their kingdoms/subjects/loved ones ''at your own peril''.
* PunnyName: ''Ohja'' can be translated as "monarch" and "champion"; the Ohsama Sentai are kings who serve as their kingdoms' paramount protectors.
* RagtagBandOfMisfits: As per ''Super Sentai'' standard, with the added twist that these people [[TheWonka are responsible for running entire countries]]. The Ohsama Sentai are a group of rulers made up of an orphaned wannabe tyrant king-turned-actual king who is the long lost brother of the EvilOverlord who rules his kingdom, a temperamental delinquent-looking tech genius, an incredibly self-centered doctor who takes pride in her selfishness and encourages others to do the same, an borderline emotionless yet shout-prone judge who can only properly communicate their true feelings through a mascot plushie, and an incredibly theatrical liar who is absolutely shameless about using people for his own ends. Then there's the very long-lived, half-human "old-fashioned storyteller" who's using both the Ohsama Sentai and Bug Naraku to try and rule as the "King of All".
* ReluctantRuler: It is revealed that the Fury of the Gods event forced most of the current set of monarchs to take the thrones of their countries, whether they wanted to or not.
* ReverseGrip:
** Gira, Rita and Kaguragi wield their [=OhgerCaliburs=] in this manner during their transformation poses.
** Jeramie wields the Kumonoslayer in this manner during combat.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: Four out of the five core (then all of six, as Racles being defeated by Gira in #20 along with the latter's coronation in #23, and the Bug Naraku's reformation with Jeramie as its king after Dethnaarok's death in #26 respectively) Rangers are monarchs of specific kingdoms, and in ''Super Sentai'' tradition they are more than willing to [[WarriorPrince kick ass on the field]]. It's also shown they each individually fill major roles in their kingdoms, such as Rita acting as a chief justice or Hymeno being a doctor.
* RulerProtagonist: The main premise of the story. Each member of the King-Ohgers is the ruler and foremost protector of one of the kingdoms that make up Tikyū.
* ShoePhone: The ''King's Hotline'', a smartphone stored in each Ranger's belt buckle.
* SuperiorSuccessor: [[spoiler: Thanks to being united enough to prepare for it, the current day monarchs are able to prevent any casualties caused by the Fury of the Gods compared to the high death count that occurred under the previous rulerships.]]
* SwissArmyWeapon: The main five's primary weapon is the ''King's Weapon'', which has a variety of [[WeaponSpecialization weapon modes that suit each monarch's combat style]].
** [[LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe Shield Mode]]: Its default form.
** [[UsefulNotes/{{Swords}} Sword Mode]]: Favored by Kuwagata Ohger.
** [[UsefulNotes/{{Firearms}} Gun Mode]]: Favored by Tombo Ohger.
** [[SinisterScythe Sickle Mode]]: Favored by Kamakiri Ohger.
** [[TheStraightAndArrowPath Bow Mode]]: Favored by Papillon Ohger.
** [[WolverineClaws Claw Mode]]: Favored by Hachi Ohger.
** [[DoubleWeapon Naginata Mode]]: Accessed by combining it with the [=OhgerCalibur=].
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: The first nine episodes see them only working together on a superficial level as the monarchs' pride as rulers and their conflicting personalities prevented them from truly uniting. While #10-onwards sees them make more of an effort to work as a team, they still tend to disagree over how to handle a situation due to their responsibilities as monarchs and self interests.
* TeamSpirit: The series constantly emphasizes that the the monarchs work best as one unit towards a single goal, even with their collective differences and opinions. The usage of the King's Proof emphasizes that it needs to be used in tandem with at least one other person to prevent any disastrous consequences. This is best shown in #47 [[spoiler: where their unity allowed them to be better prepare all of Tikyū against the second Fury of the Gods compared to fifteen years ago, leading to ''zero'' casualties this time around.]]
* TranquilFury: A collective example in #28 where the monarchs are ''beyond furious'' at Hilbil, as her manipulations forced Jeremie [[spoiler: to take the blame for their retainers attacking them.]]
* TrueCompanions: Despite their TeethClenchedTeamwork above, it has been shown that the monarchs ''truly'' do see each other as friends even if some try to deny it [[spoiler: like in #38 where they interfered with Rita's investigation out of concern or #40 where they are willing to become rebel kings to support Gira despite him being a creation of Dugded.]]
* TheWonka: While the monarchs present certain quirks - due in part because of their ReluctantRuler status - they are still considered extremely competent and reliable because of their quirks. Unfortunately, [[DeconstructedTrope these quirks land four of them in prison]] during the TimeSkip, though even that doesn't seem to affect their goodwill in the slightest.
* VitriolicBestBuds: The monarchs spend the majority of their time arguing and making petty power-grabs towards each other's kingdoms. Gira's presence and willingness to question the status quo marks a turning point in their relationship and convinces the five (later six) to properly unite into a team willing to protect Tikyu and each other. Even after all that though, the team's general relationship tends to fluctuates as the situation does due to their contrasting personalities, albeit to typically-positive ends.

!!Gira Husty/Kuwagata Ohger
!!!'''Portrayed by:''' Taisei Sakai (live), Shigeki Itō (suit)\
'''Young Gira portrayed by:''' Sanetoshi Ariyama (live), Minoru Watanabe (suit)

-->''Now fear me and heed my words! I will show no shred of mercy nor restraint, and spare no effort nor intent! [[MyNameIsInigoMontoya The name of your demise... is Gira!]] [[ThenLetMeBeEvil The man who'll become the King of Evil]]! And I... shall rule over this entire world!''
\
A young rebel orphan and self-proclaimed "King of Evil". While he has a kind heart and considerate personality, he is prone to lapsing into a villain-like persona, due to him often assuming the role whilst playing with the other orphans. He is later revealed to be the younger brother of King Racles, and first in line to the throne of Shugodom. He eventually becomes the king of Shugoddom after he defeats Racles in trial-by-combat.
\
As Kuwagata Ohger, he fights alongside God Kuwagata, specializing in an aggressive "villainous" style of combat.

''The king of evil! Gira!'']]

* AllLovingHero: A key trait of Gira's is that he'll extend a gesture of friendship towards ''anyone'' he meets, and even if they have negative quirks he'll gladly help tone them down if he knows they aren't bad at heart. The only people known to have been denied this are Racles, the new Deboth Army, and the Galactinsects, who are utterly devoid of any redeeming qualities.
* AmnesiacHero: He doesn't remember much of his time at the Caucasus Kabuto Castle. Since he was a young child before he was taken away from the castle, he doesn't seem to mind it. [[spoiler: It turns out there's another reason for his lost memories though.]]
* ApocalypseMaiden: He was meant to be [[spoiler: a Tikyu-destroying TykeBomb that Shugodom would unwittingly prime and detonate with Shugod Souls in a misguided attempt to rebel against Dagded]]. He instead became one of the Galactinsects' greatest enemies.
* ArtificialHuman: [[spoiler:Dagded reveals in #40 that Gira is his creation, given to the Husty family both as reward for their service and as a way to swing the human-Bug Naraku war in humanity's favor through his ability to communicate with the Shugods. Dagded even states that he's both "mother" and "father" to Gira, though he magically impregnates Gira's biological mother.]]
* BadPowersGoodPeople: Gira [[spoiler: is an immortal creation of the Galactinsect King]], which is why he can converse with the Shugods. Despite his "evil king" schtick, Gira's one of the nicest people out there and ends up one of the heroes that save the planet.
* BerserkButton: Do not ridicule his fellow monarch's selfless acts nor their dreams in front of him, or else he cuts the Tyrant King spiel and goes straight to the beatdown.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: He's a generally affable and kindhearted personality who strives to get along with most of the people he meets, but he can [[BerserkButton fly into an outright homicidal rage]] when it comes to [[EvilOverlord Racles]].
* BeYourself: After taking the throne, Gira's navigation of kingship involves trying to balance out his kindness with actually exercising power. At first, he follows Douga's advice and detaches himself, only to go back to being a NiceGuy once he sees how this effects people like Boone who look up to him.
* BigBrotherWorship: When Gira was a child, he looked up to Racles, who always taught him life lessons that he took to heart, which is why he is so disappointed and conflicted by how low Racles has fallen in the present.
* BookDumb: He's not exactly the most educated on political or global matters due to his upbringing as an orphan. That being said, he's quite insightful towards emotional matters and can be fairly perceptive when the situation calls for it.
* BornWinner: [[spoiler:Being Dagded's creation along with being fed God Kuwagata's soul allows him to quickly grow in power despite not having the same training the other monarchs had.]]
* BreakTheBadass:
** Subverted in #28; Dagded made a good effort to do this Gira by showing him how insignificant he and his world are in the grand scheme of things and revealing that [[spoiler: previous Shugodom kings followed Dagded commands to prosecute the Bug Naraku]]. While clearly shaken, Gira manages to steel himself and tell Dagded to shove it, making clear he's going to do everything he can to destroy him.
** [[spoiler: Played more straight in #40, where the truth about his origins and being forced to summon Extreme King-Ohger to wreak havoc by Dadged leaves him on his knees crying. Thankfully, seeing the King Shugods' resolve to defy Dagded gives him the strength to pull himself together.]]
** Comes up once more in the penultimate episode, in which [[spoiler: the Caucasus Kabuto Castle appears to fall from the sky; both hero and villain unaware that the people are landing the craft themselves to save their kings. Gira nearly crosses the DespairEventHorizon before he's saved from the brink (figuratively and literally) by the arrival of an allied cavalry]], at which point the tables turn.
* BrutalHonesty: He rarely minces his words when he's calling out other people for acting in a manner that he feels is wrong.
* ButtMonkey: He's often on the receiving end of much slapstick and disrespect, having been captured, shoved, used as a guinea pig, and/or kicked by either the Bug Naraku, his brother, or his fellow teammates. Even after he became king of Shugodom, the monarchs are more than willing to exploit him for their own ends if necessary.
* CainAndAbel: A DNA test done in #5 reveals that Gira is Racles' brother, making him the Abel to Racles' Cain. [[spoiler: Subverted given later revelations that they are half brothers, and that Racles was GoodAllAlong.]]
* CallingTheOldManOut: Does not hesitant to call out and even do battle with his ancestor, Reiniol, for trying to [[spoiler: sacrifice Devonia to return back to life.]]
* CharacterCatchphrase:
** "I will rule over this entire world!"[[note]]俺様が世界を支配する!/''Ore-sama ga sekai ō shihai suru!''[[/note]]
** "That's sickening, boring, and maddening!"[[note]]くだらん、つまらん、気に喰わん!/''[[RhymesOnADime Kudaran, tsumaran, kinikuwan]]!''[[/note]], when doing a "WhatTheHellHero" speech.
* TheChainsOfCommanding: After Gira takes the throne, his character arc shifts towards his attempt to balance his true personality as a NiceGuy and the fact that as monarch he has to treat his subjects more aloofly, with various characters advising Gira on how to rule.
--> '''Yanma''': ''(to Gira)'': Make the kingdom's pain your own.
* ChildByRape: [[spoiler:While done via magic, Dagded forcibly impregnated his mother against her will.]]
* {{Chuunibyou}}: {{Downplayed}}; he constantly [[LargeHam tries to establish his "villain" persona]] as a threat to the other kings not out of a desire for attention, but [[ItsPersonal so as to not get them involved in his conflict against Racles]]. ''None of them'' buy that he's genuinely an "evil" person due to him being [[BadBadActing so over-the-top about it]]. It probably doesn't help that Gira is very prone to dropping the persona at inopportune times. While he's largely dropped it after #24, he still has a habit of slipping into it in battle.
* CloudCuckoolandersMinder: Considering [[WeAREStrugglingTogether who he has to deal with on a regular basis]], he finds himself in this role quite often; especially after becoming the king of Shugodom.
* ContrastingSequelProtagonist: While both he and [[Series/AvataroSentaiDonbrothers Taro Momoi]] are large hams who laugh and play up their theatrics, Taro was the scion of a royal bloodline who was brought up as a commoner for his safety by his clan, while Gira is from a humble background who was stolen from his place of royalty until the events of the series reveals that he is indeed of RoyalBlood. Taro, while an ExperiencedProtagonist and clearly the strongest of his team, had [[LackOfEmpathy stunted empathy]] and NoSocialSkills, whereas Gira, despite being a RookieRedRanger, is a NiceGuy all too eager to approach others and is much more observant and sensitive of others' true feelings. Taro was [[TheAce better than the rest of his team in most aspects]], while Gira lags behind the other monarchs in their respective specializations (a fact they're all too willing to exploit in #21 and #24), with his biggest advantage over them being his heroic bloodline and ability to bond with the Shugods.
* DeathByChildbirth: #43 reveals that Gira's mother died shortly giving birth to him. [[spoiler: It is heavily implied that this is most likely due to what Dagded did to her.]]
* DefiantToTheEnd: While Gira's more than willing to give his own freedom and even his ''life'' for the name of peace, he will ''staunchly refuse'' if asked to sacrifice someone else's. Racles, Dethnarrok, Reiniol, and Dadged learn this first-hand, with the former paying the price for it.
* DistressedDude: One of the series' [[RunningGag ongoing jokes]] has Gira finding himself captured and tied up for various reasons. Most of these instances are PlayedForLaughs.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: When he sees a soldier harassing a couple, Gira drives him off by pretending to be chummy with him and have the other orphans pelt said soldier and himself, showcasing his willingness to help others, even if he decides to label himself as a villain and get punished for it.
* EvilHero: {{Invoked|trope}} and {{Averted|trope}} given the context of his situation; while Gira does proclaim himself as the "King of Evil", this is largely in response to Racles's "[[KnightTemplar justice]]" that he uses to justify his tyranny over the kingdoms. Gira, rejecting this attitude, declares himself to be the "evil" that'll destroy that kind of justice. [[{{Deconstructed|trope}} It does,]] however, give him a bad reputation among the people of Shugodom after Racles manipulates things in his favor [[{{Reconstructed|Trope}} in #20.]]
* EvilLaugh: He has a haughty laugh to accompany his hammy "King of Evil" persona.
* EvilSoundsDeep: {{Invoked|trope}}; his voice drops a couple of pitches when he assumes his "King of Evil" persona.
* ExpositoryPronoun: He uses ''ore-sama'' when assuming the persona of the boisterous "King of Evil", while his normal personality has him using ''boku''[[note]]note that no previous Sentai Red had ever used ''boku'' as their main pronoun[[/note]]. While he does a good job maintaining ''ore-sama'' to bolster his status, he immediately switches back to ''boku'' when he drops the persona.
* {{Expy}}:
** Gira's character arc draws several parallels to the legendary Myth/KingArthur, being a prince who was raised as a commoner, only to discover his true heritage via obtaining a sword.
** [[spoiler:Gira's status as a hero born from an alien impregnating a human woman brings to mind [[Series/KamenRiderBuild Ryuga Banjou]].]]
** [[spoiler:Also to [[Series/UltramanGeed Riku Asakura]], being created from the DNA of the series alien BigBad specifically for the purpose of carrying out his father's evil designs. However, he became a selfless, compassionate hero resolute to protect everyone despite what others thought of him.]]
* FakingTheDead: After his defeat by Racles in #8, the monarchs decide to play up Gira's "death" to Shugodom so that he could stay hidden until they could devise a plan against Racles. He comes out of this in #17 after Racles tries to kill Yanma.
* FriendToAllChildren: While he's a NiceGuy through-and-through, he is particularly kind to children, taking care of them whenever he can. This probably stems from his surrogate elder brother role at the orphanage, and is the precise factor used by Rita to declare him innocent in #5.
* GodEating: As it turns out, the Rainbow Jururira he enjoyed as a child [[spoiler: was actually God Kuwagata's Shugod Soul.]]
* TheGoodKing: After taking the throne of Shugodom, Gira proves to be a benevolent and capable monarch, enjoying near-universal popularity from his people as well as being one of two monarchs who don't get in trouble by indulging their ego during the TimeSkip.
* GrinOfAudacity: As a result of being committed to his "King of Evil", Gira is prone to showing off plenty of smug smiles worthy of any proper EvilOverlord.
* HalfHumanHybrid: [[spoiler:He's born as the result of Dagded impregnating Causus' wife. This explains why he and Racles share similar DNA, with their familial relation being through their shared mother.]]
* TheHeart: All of the monarchs have this to some extent, but Gira tends to be the most concerned about the well-being of others. In fact, he is often the one reassuring the other monarchs after they have had to make a hard decision.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: Invoked. As Gira is an outsider who forced himself into the role of a "king," he's not privy to the ways the other rulers and their kingdoms operate. Thus, he tends to judge the other rulers at face value until they reveal their HiddenDepths. However, he's surprisingly good at [[SpottingTheThread noticing things]] that others fail to catch, such as how Kaguragi was the pilot of God Kabuto instead of Racles.
* HotBlooded: Downplayed; he's energetic and sometimes hot-tempered, but he rarely goes to the extremes unless he's in his "King of Evil" persona.
* ImageSong: "Kind King".
* ItsPersonal: How he views his feud against Racles. It's to the point that he openly demands the other kings to surrender him straight to Shugoddom as soon as possible so he can deal with Racles himself, much to their bewilderment. This becomes even more personal in #5 when it is revealed that he is Racles' brother.
* KarmicJackpot: Since #1, his heroic actions despite being a wanted rebel has earned him the monarchs' trust, all of Shuggodam's support and eventually the throne after defeating Racles at the end of #20.
* LargeHam: Tends to be quite over-the-top when he assumes into his [[EvilIsHammy "villain" persona]].
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: He doesn't remember most of his past as a prince, only being able to recall certain memories regarding his brother in some shape or form, such as rainbow jujurira and the Founder's Crown. [[spoiler: This came as a side effect of consuming God Kuwagata's soul.]]
* LaserGuidedTykebomb: [[spoiler:His existence owes to the fact that Causus had requested great power from Dagded to be used against the Galactinsect King, under the pretext of creating a weapon to defeat the Bug Naraku.]]
* LikeBrotherAndSister: Gira and Devonica's interactions reflect this kind of relationship. If one did not know that they were both orphans, is would be easy to assume they ''were'' siblings. In fact, when Devonica insists that he doesn't call her his sister (or even a friend), he looks genuinely confused and even a bit hurt at the notion.
* LovedByAll: Wherever Gira travels in the four other kingdoms, he's invariably seen as an overwhelmingly kind and positive figure (it was one of the reasons Rita doubted Racles' claims). Post time skip, he's a UniversallyBelovedLeader who is not only respected but extremely well-liked by his people, who largely forgo any formality with him in favor of treating him like an especially well-liked boss.
* MacGuffinSuperPerson: Gira's ability to both form King-Ohger and communicate with the Shugods are qualities every major player, even the Bug Naraku, wants to obtain in order to consolidate power. It comes to a head in #9 when the rulers' mass-backstabbing isolates them for Dethnaarok to easily pick off, letting him snatch up Gira instead. It's eventually revealed that [[spoiler: these powers come from his link to Dagded, who created Gira to aid him in his plan to destroy Tikyu and that Racules saved Gira from becoming a mindless TykeBomb; which would've taken this trope FromBadToWorse]].
* MeaningfulName: His first name is derived from the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Prosopocoilus_giraffa giraffe stag beetle]]. His last name (ハスティー) is a modification of ''hirsti'' (ハースティ, from ''[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhyniognatha Rhyniognatha hirsti]]'', the source of his ancestor's name.
* TheMostWanted: Defying Racles and stealing his [=OhgerCalibur=] has him effectively branded as a traitor to Shugodom, with Racles now actively sending out troops to seek his capture and execution for his defiance.
* NervesOfSteel: Despite the overwhelming might he displayed, Gira makes it clear he will not submit to Dagded's whims and will do everything in his power to defeat him.
* NiceGuy: He's a kind soul that attends to everyone's needs before his. Even when he assumes his "King of Evil" persona, he tends to use it for benevolent or heroic reasons.
* TheNicknamer: Has taken to giving nicknames to Shugods he has befriended or feels affection to. For example, ''"Kuwagon"'' for God Kuwagata, ''"Kabutan"'' for God Kabuto, and even ''"Taranchino"'' for God Tarantula, who belongs to Jeramie.
* NighInvulnerability: Downplayed. Gira's [[spoiler:immortality]] manifests in him being able to take a massive amount of punishment without dying, but he's still susceptible to harm if it's a large amount of damage coming at his way.
* NoRespectGuy: Downplayed. While the other monarchs clearly consider Gira a friend and ally and follow him into battle, their [[TheWonka kooky demeanor]] and clear self-interest also means that they tend to exploit his goodwill from time to time, as most clearly shown in #21 and #31.
* NotEvilJustMisunderstood: He's the "King of Evil" InNameOnly and is very much TheHero of the story. He only takes up the mantle when he learns first-hand that the man who rules his kingdom is putting his ambitions over his duty towards his people.
* OddNameOut: The only member of the Ohsama Sentai with OnlyOneName known, due to being an orphan who is not of royalty. #5 reveals his last name to be Husty, though he actively chooses to disregard it due to his hatred of Racles.
* OnlySaneByComparison: As hammy and inexperienced as he can be, Gira comes off as the least quirky compared to a hot-tempered yankee hacker, a selfish yet brilliant doctor who loves explosions, a monotone judge who ''adores'' a yeti mascot, a hammy pathological liar, and a so-called "old-fashioned" storyteller who loves his subtext just a little too much. As a result, he has to play the straight man whenever their quirks start to flair up.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Gira was originally [[spoiler: created to become a tool for Dagded to destroy planets with ala Grodie; the Galactinsect King fully-expecting Corsus to feed him Shugod Souls and reduce the boy to a TykeBomb he could sic on Dagded without knowing it'd be AllForNothing]]. Racules' involvement de-rails this, keeping Gira "defective" but kind.
* PhlebotinumRebel: [[spoiler:He was created by Dagded to serve as a way to control the Shugods. Gira, however, proves to be the first king of Shugodom to defy Dagded rather than submit to him or work with him.]]
* ProtagonistPowerUpPrivileges: He gets the ability to turn into King Kuwagata Ohger, something only he can do. PlayedWith as it's his piece of the King's Proof and every member had theirs the entire time, but no one realized it until part 2.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: {{Subverted|trope}}; his filched mantle (which he stole from Racles) is red and black, but he's [[RedIsHeroic a hero through and through]], with the "evil" part being mere theatrics.
* RookieRedRanger: Compared to the other rangers, who either were born into royalty and have been raised since young in preparation for their future roles (Hymeno, Rita, and Kaguragi), or at the very least have been in the role for a good while despite being not of royal birth (Yanma), Gira has absolutely no clue about how royals go about their duties, having only interacted with the kingdoms' monarchs amid the Bug Naraku invasion. He ends up becoming Kuwagata Ohger after taking Racles' [=OhgerCalibur=] when the latter turned out to be a tyrant and God Kuwagata accepted him as the rightful heir to the powers. He also quickly grows in skill and power despite lacking the training the other monarchs went through [[spoiler:This is justified since he came into existence after Causus requested great power from Dagded, which caused Gira's birth. He was even further powered up after eating Rainbow Jururira , which is actually the soul of God Kuwagata]]
* RuleOfSymbolism: Not only did he steal Racles' [=OhgerCalibur=], but also his mantle with Shugodom's emblem, signifying him TakingUpTheMantle as the one true protector of Shugodom.
** [[spoiler: Since learning of their true relationship in #5, Gira has refrained from uttering his full name due to his profound disgust for his Racles' actions, viewing doing so as making them the same. When the truth of Racles' actions come to light in #42, just before delivering the decisive blow on Dagded, Gira utters his full name, accepting Racles as his brother. This is is reflected in the credits from #43 going forward, which displays full name instead of just "Gira" as it has done previously.]]
* ShutUpHannibal: He has a habit of invoking his "Evil King" speech as a way to tell his enemy that he's not backing down.
** When he steals and points Racles's [=OhgerCalibur=] at him, Racles states that he has made himself the enemy of the world. Gira promptly lets him know that he's ''completely fine'' with that and will totally crush the brand of "justice" the king represents.
** Does so during his first encounter and interaction with Dagded, with his denouncement of the latter mirroring the one he did with Racles.
* SmarterThanYouLook: He generally makes up for his lack of experience by being incredibly observant, often noticing things that others would fail to catch.
* SoulJar: To [[spoiler: God Kuwagata, having been fed its Shugod Soul by Corsus in the past. Gira's effectively its LivingBattery.]].
* SpannerInTheWorks: Lampshaded in #42. [[spoiler: During his internal musings, Racles notes how Gira seems to foil his plans at every turn.]]
* SuperiorSuccessor: He stands as a far cry from his distant ancestor and immediate predecessor due to lacking the talent of Reiniol and the political savvy of Racles. That being said, Gira is much more willing to help others and cooperate with the other monarchs than Reiniol and Racles ever did, which allows him to rule successfully over the two-year TimeSkip despite his lacking traits.
* TakeOverTheWorld: Often declares that he'll conquer the world, though this is less sinister compared to other examples as this is just something to bolster his "King of Evil" persona and is more focused on protecting the world and its people from the forces that threaten it.
* ThenLetMeBeEvil: Realizing that the only way to stand up against Racles' EvilOverlord ways is to actually be branded a traitor himself, he declares himself as his own "King of Evil" and officially a rebel against his own kingdom. By #17, he makes his survival known and firmly is in this role, not caring if the people of Shugodom fear him or not. He drops the facade altogether by #23, having come to terms with the fact that he can still be a good king ''and'' show his true personality to his people.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Twofold.
** Out of Shugodom's kings, Gira's the only (known) one [[spoiler: that was actually willing to stand up to the Galactinsects and defy Dagded's generational blackmail outright]].
** Downplayed in terms of the Ohsama Sentai as [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold even with their flaws, they're firmly heroic.]] Gira's probably the kindest and most easily-approachable of the monarchs with only the occasional lapse into his "evil king" persona (and rare moments of BookDumb) as a flaw. He also doesn't participate in the usual bickering between the other rulers (unless he's the unwilling target of it) and tries his best to be a force of unity.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Despite having only eaten it once as a child, Gira loves ''rainbow jujurira''[[note]]#3 and #5 show it to be an orange jelly dessert topped with sugar pearls, #43 revealing it to be grounded remains of God Kuwagata's Shuggod Soul.[[/note]].
* TranslatorBuddy: Gira can understand the Shugods, which initially makes him target number one for just about everybody in the political game.
* TheUnchosenOne: Subverted. He steals Racles' [=OhgerCalibur=], but shouldn't be able to use it as he isn't of RoyalBlood. Then comes #5, where it's revealed that he's of RoyalBlood and the next in line for the throne after Racles.
* TykeBomb: [[spoiler:Dagded created Gira to become a weapon that would destroy Tikyū once he's been fed enough Shugod Souls by an ignorant Corsus; who believed he was making an anti-Dagded weapon. Racules defies this by sending his brother away in secret. In #40, Dagded briefly controlled Gira in another attempt to level Shuggodam, only for both parties to power through his influence.]]
* {{Unperson}}: According to Racles, Gira was abducted as a child. His existence was hidden out of fear that his disappearance would cause a scandal for the royal family. [[spoiler: It's a lie, though. His father wanted to use Gira as a weapon, which Dadged was counting on, so Racles sent his brother away to live a normal life.]]
* WhatTheHellHero: Although he has received these a number of times, more often than not, Gira is the one ''giving'' these speeches whenever the others act out of line according to his standards.

We are the, We are the King! King-Ohger!\
King Kuwagata Ohger!'']]

* AwesomeButImpractical: Downplayed; the King Kuwagata Ohger suit packs a lot of power that more than comes in handy, but the massive bulk from the giant shoulder pauldrons means that it leaves Kuwagata Ohger unable to fit in the Shugod control rigs comfortably. This means that he has to have someone else hooked up to the control rig while he uses a different set of controls in front, such as Hachi Ohger in #18 and Spider Kumonos in #33. The only reason he can go solo in King Caucasus Kabuto is that the mecha's cockpit is Shugodom castle's throne room, which gives it more than enough space for the giant shoulder pads.
* CompanyCrossReferences: His King Form is one of the eponymous SuperMode from ''Series/KamenRiderBlade'', down to the color scheme.
* CoolBike: Owns a hovercycle dubbed the ''King Speeder'', which is stored in -- and launched -- from King-Ohger's head.
* CrownOfPower: The [=OhgerCrown=] grants him access to King Kuwagata Form, and becomes part of said form's armor.
* FinishingMove:
** '''Ohger Finish:'''
*** Kuwagata Ohger charges the [=OhgerCalibur=] with red energy (golden in King Form) and shrouds the blade in an energy construct of God Kuwagata's mandibles, delivering a powerful slash to the enemy.
*** Kuwagata Ohger swings the [=OhgerCalibur=], launching an energy construct of Kuwagata Ohger at the target that detonates upon impact.
** '''Ohger Slash:''' Kuwagata Ohger deals a flurry of slashes with the [=OhgerCalibur=] and King's Weapon (Sword Mode).
** '''King Ohger Finish:'''
*** King Kuwagata Ohger raises the [=OhgerCrownLance=], conjuring multiple golden energy constructs of God Kuwagata that he launches at the enemy.
*** A combination attack with the five main Shugods; all of them fire beams that coalesce into a giant energy pillar that obliterates the target.
* GoldenSuperMode: King Kuwagata Form, granted via the [=OhgerCrownLance=]'s Crown component, turns his suit completely golden, as well as [[GoldColoredSuperiority granting him a significant boost in power]]. Though in this case, it's more of a "Golden MidSeasonUpgrade".
* HeroesPreferSwords: In addition to the [=OhgerCalibur=], his favored modes when using the King's Weapon are Sword Mode and Naginata Mode.
* JapaneseBeetleBrothers: He is themed on a stag beetle.
* JoustingLance: King Kuwagata Form grants him a third weapon in the [=OhgerCrownLance=]'s Lance component.
* PowerGivesYouWings: He can extend a pair of red energy beetle wings from his back in base form, granting him {{flight}}.
* ShouldersOfDoom: King Kuwagata Form enlarges his shoulder pads into large spiked pauldrons.
* UnskilledButStrong: He often relies on his raw power with the [=OhgerCalibur=] and King's Weapon to defeat his enemies. While he gets the job done, he lacks the refinement of his fellow teammates due to his lack of experience. [[TookALevelInBadass He gradually does get to the level of his teammates over time]] thanks to their battles with the Bug Naraku, to the point where he's able to beat Racles during their second trial-by-combat.

''The wise king! Yanma Gast!'']]

* AloofAlly: He believes he has the capability to resolve major issues all by himself, and as such would rather work alone than as a team with the rest of the Ohsama Sentai. He eventually comes around to working with them when the team genuinely unites, allowing himself to put his full trust in their skills.
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: As admirable as his rise to kingship through his smarts may be, it has also given him somewhat of an inflated ego. He believes that he alone can control King-Ohger, which causes him to initially act coldly to the other monarchs.
* BlueMeansSmartOne: Yanma is the Blue Ranger of the team who rose to power through his technological prowess, turning Nkosopa into a {{Tomorrowland}} in the process. #34 reveals that he's even aware of TimeDilation, indicating that he either developed a version of the theory of relativity independent of Albert Einstein (given how they're on separate planets) or is aware of it given his kingdom's status as a beacon of innovation.
* CasanovaWannabe: He developed a ''huge'' one-sided crush on Hymeno, so he tries to get her attention in #3 with a bunch of awkwardly flirtatious comments that don't go anywhere. He drops this after seeing her blow up a crumbling house. #36 sees this come back in full-force due to "Hymeno's" marriage competition, but his nervousness along with Jeramie's antics ultimately get the best of him.
* CatchphraseInsult: He tends to refer to other people as "slack-jawed tanuki(s)[[note]]スカポンタヌキ/''sukapon tanuki''[[/note]]" whenever he's annoyed by them.
* CerebroElectro: Yanma is the group's technology expert and can command lightning through his royal symbol of power.
* CharacterCatchphrase: "I stand at the top."[[note]]俺は天辺だ/''Ore wa teppen da.''[[/note]]
* CharacterDevelopment: Much of Yanma's character development centers around him growing past his pride as a person and ruler.
** Yanma slowly grows past his AloofAlly tendencies the more he works with his fellow monarchs, but it isn't until #44 that he realizes that he can't always rely on himself. The crux of this comes when he asks his fellow monarchs to re-sign the Six-Kingdom Alliance, understanding that they need a system in place to keep each other in check.
** He firmly establishes himself to be a stanch FlatEarthAtheist in #22, believing that the Shugods are nothing more than advanced [=AI=]s at best. However, the second part sees him gradually shift towards the belief that the Shugods are living beings, with him fully acknowledging in the finale that their physical bodies are vessels for their souls.
* CharacterTics: Has a habit of doing the "BringIt" gesture with his first and middle fingers, including in his transformation pose.
* ChekhovsGun: The laptop he carries around wherever he goes proves to be a ''vital'' key to his kingdom's functionality: #35 reveals that it's known as "Boro" - the main computer that controls all of Nkosopa's network systems. If it is destroyed, then the country will effectively be sent back to the ruinous state it was prior to Yamma's ascension to the throne. [[spoiler: He destroys it in order to prevent Shiokara from going through with a HeroicSuicide.]]
** The super computer he made during the timeskip that got him imprisoned comes into play in #39 in two ways: first, it is the thing that will restore Nkosopa back to normal [[spoiler: after Boro has been destroyed.]] Secondly, it grants the King-Ohgers access to [[MidSeasonUpgrade Ryouga Issen]].
* CoatCape: He typically wears his main leather jacket in this manner. He switches to wearing it properly most of the time after the TimeSkip.
* CompanyCrossReferences: A dragonfly-themed blue toku hero optionally wielding a gun? Sounds a lot like either [[Series/BFighterKabuto B-Fighter Yanma]], or [[Series/KamenRiderKabuto Kamen Rider Drake]].
* ContrastingSequelProtagonist: Unlike [[Series/AvataroSentaiDonbrothers Shinichi Saruhara]], who was from an affluent background but willingly gave up his wealth for a spartan lifestyle, Yanma was born poor and [[SelfMadeMan worked his way up]], eventually becoming king. While Shinichi was a MellowFellow who occasionally had bursts of anger, Yanma is aggressive and temperamental due to growing up in the slums.
* DeadpanSnarker: He loves snarking at just about everything and everyone no matter the situation, even moreso when he's irritated.
* {{Determinator}}: As seen in his CharacterFocus episodes, he simply will not give up even if all of the odds are stacked against him, determined to keep on going forward with his guts and skill alone. #35's ending is perhaps the most standout example: [[spoiler: Yamma destroys his personal computer in order to save his retainer's life, resulting in his kingdom to collapse into ruin. Yet, he's clearly not too bothered by it as Shiokara is, confident that they will be able to build things back to the way they were.]]
--> '''Yanma''': Don't cry, you slack-jawed tanuki. We're just starting from 0.
* TheEngineer: He was the one that created the [=OhgerCaliburs=] and is often the one trying to fix or retrofit the Shugods to make them function with Tikyū's current level of technological prowess.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: During the conference between the five monarchs, he pointedly refuses to go along with Racles' proposal, due to his mistrust of the king of Shugodom and his belief that he can awaken King-Ohger alone. He's proven right regarding Racles' character, but he fails to awaken King-Ohger by himself.
* ExcellentJudgeOfCharacter:
** He is incredibly proficient at discerning people's true personalities just by interacting with them. As such, he's rather distrustful of people unless they prove that they are worthy of his respect.
** Hilariously subverted when it comes to Hymeno, as his painfully obvious crush on her blinds him to the fact that she's not quite the graceful queen that he expected her to be. It takes her ''blowing up a house'' for him to wise up.
* FireForgedFriends: While he and Gira started off on the wrong foot, they quickly grow to have a strong friendship based on mutual trust and respect for each other's personalities and goals.
* FlatEarthAtheist:
** Yanma considers the Shugods to be nothing more than sufficiently advanced [=AIs=], rather than being the center of the world's religion. That being said, he at least considers them advanced and sapient enough to be reasoned with, [[NayTheist rather than antagonizing them]].
** He also expresses skepticism at the existence of Hākabāka and dismisses it as an advanced collection of data. This is also why he's the sole member of the team not to deal with a threat from the past in the movie, focusing instead on finding a way out.
* GeniusBruiser: He's a highly-skilled combatant with a knack for gunplay. However, his main strengths come from his talents in hacking, observation, and perception, using his skills in technology to rise to the throne. Unlike most examples however, he's established to be the physically weakest of the team, [[{{Determinator}} not that it stops him.]]
* HiddenDepths: He's quite nerdy underneath his cool exterior, often fanboying about more outlandish sci-fi concepts such as cyborgs and alternate timelines.
* HotBlooded: Downplayed. Ironically, despite being the Blue Ranger of the team, he can be rather hot-tempered at times, yelling at people whenever he feels that they're being idiotic. Most of the time, however, he tends to be fairly collected, if not stubborn.
* {{Hypocrite}}: He calls out Gira for trying to solve the God Scorpion situation himself in #7 instead of working with everyone else, yet he too participates in the mutual backstabbing to hoard Gira in #9 instead of encouraging unity.
* ImageSong: "Teppen Online".
* JapaneseDelinquent: He styles himself after one with a [[DelinquentHair pompadour]] and demeanor to match.
* JerkassHasAPoint: As rude and dismissive to the others during their meeting about the prophecy as he was, Yanma was ''completely'' on the ball about Racles being a total OpportunisticBastard who was planning on using the situation with the Bug Naraku to take over all of the other kingdoms.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: As arrogant and temperamental as he is, he is utterly devoted to his kingdom and is willing to hear people out as long as they have good reasons. He's also quite compassionate when it comes down to it, often showing it through small but impactful actions.
* JustTheFirstCitizen: He's insistent on being called the ''president'' of Nkosopa, due to him rising to rule it from a humble background and earning the position on his own merits rather than his heritage. He also believes his country has grown out of the traditional "king and subjects" hierarchy standard.
* MeaningfulName: His first name is derived from ''oni'''yanma''' '' (鬼'''蜻蜓'''), the Japanese name for the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anotogaster_sieboldii golden-ringed dragonfly]], while his last name is derived from its scientific name, ''Anoto'''gast'''er sieboldii''.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: #44 sees him have a small, but noticeable moment of realization when he witnesses the damage his King's Proof has done to Shugodom.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: His whoopee cushion pranks towards Racles tends to backfire on him in some fashion.
** Yanma's decision to use the Venomix Shooter in #13 for a ''very'' distasteful joke ends up making Jeramie furious and leads to him stealing the [=OhgerCalibur=]s.
** In #19, he and Jeramie's successful whoopee cushion prank against Racles comes at the cost of Rita nullifying his arrest as they are now considered "even" legally.
* TheNicknamer: Outside of his usual "slack-jawed tanuki" and the lesser-used "macaroni brains", he really likes referring to the fellow monarchs by cheeky nicknames, such as "octomush"[[note]]タコメンチ/''takomenchi''[[/note]] for Gira and "Hyme-chan" for Hymeno.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Despite his intelligence and generally responsible attitude, Yanma is also incredibly cheeky no matter the circumstances. This is best shown with his pettiness towards Racles, to the point where his first response to being given the Venomix Shooter was to pull a prank on the king.
* OneManIndustrialRevolution: #35 reveals that he's the reason Nkosopa is so technologically advanced; before he became king, the country was racially in ruins as a result of the previous king abandoning it in the aftermath of the "Fury of the Gods". Through the creation of the Top Computer, which is revealed later on to be his personal laptop "Boro", Yamma transformed the entire kingdom into {{Tomorrowland}}.
* ParentalAbandonment: Admits to Hymeno in #7 that he doesn't remember who his parents were.
* {{Pride}}: Even among the rulers, Yanma's ego is worth noting, only superseded by Racles'. After climbing his way from being an orphan in the slums to becoming the king of Nkosopa, along with elevating his kingdom from a scrapyard to the most technologically advanced place on the planet; it's given him a high opinion of himself and his abilities, which is not entirely misplaced, [[FatalFlaw but it can make him quite overconfident in what he can do]].
* ProperlyParanoid: He refuses to acknowledge Racles as a leader, suspecting that he's only using the prophecy as an excuse to monopolize power. Sure enough, when the Bug Naraku first invades, Racles sits idly by and does nothing while the other monarchs try to protect everyone while making plans to invade the other kingdoms afterward.
* RagsToRiches: He started out as a street rat before clawing his way to the throne. It's later revealed that he helped instigate this instance with the whole kingdom of Nkosopa after the Fury of the Gods incident.
* RedOniBlueOni: Forms this dynamic with Gira. In terms of intellect and skill, Yanma's book and computer smarts contrast with Gira's naivete. However, the dynamic is flipped when it comes to their personalities, as Yanma is quite aggressive and passionate despite his good intentions; while Gira is normally kind and personable, with his HotBlooded traits mostly tied to his villain persona.
* ScienceHero: Obviously, given he is the ruler of the land known for its advanced technology - something he himself is directly responsible for.
* SelfMadeMan: Yanma quickly establishes himself as someone who rose to the top of Nkosopa's throne with his own two hands. #13 elaborates that his mentor Gin instilled this behavior when he was a child, telling him that he needed to start out from the bottom if he was to get to the top.
* ShockAndAwe: His King's Proof allows him to control lightning. When he first uses it, he gets DrunkWithPower and proceeds to brew up a storm over Shugodom [[PsychoElectro with a disconcerting grin on his face]].
* SmarterThanYouLook: Lampshaded in his description. Given his Yankee looks and personality, it was presumed he rose up through physical strength, but in actuality; it was his smarts and the use of his laptop that brought him to the throne and all indications point to Yanma being the WorldsSmartestMan.
* TheSmartGuy: In a group filled with relatively intelligent people, Yanma notably stands out for his overall intellect, being incredibly knowledgeable about technology and scientific concepts while also being rather insightful and perceptive.
* TrademarkFavouriteFood: He is often shown drinking what appears to be Tikyū's equivalent of ''[[MustHaveCaffeine cola]]''.
* TheUnchosenOne: Zigzagged as a different variant from Gira. His origins of being not of royal blood and having fought his way to the top from the slums, along with his constant talks of breaking through the Shugods' security systems and actually attempting it on God Kuwagata in #1 suggest that he [[HollywoodHacking hacked his way]] into being chosen as a ranger after his rising as Nkosopa's king. However, God Kuwagata's refusal to give in to him despite his successful hack alternatively implies that in God Tombo's case, it simply accepted him as a partner willingly.
* UniversallyBelovedLeader: While yes, he can be a jerk, his kingdom seems to genuinely love him. Part of this seems to come from his fairly casual relationship with his people.
* WorldsSmartestMan: If nothing else, Yanma is the smartest man in Nkosopa, able to effortlessly out-hack an entire crowd of people (who aren't dumb themselves) at once. In fact, he's entirely responsible for Nkosopa being so far ahead of the other kingdoms technologically. He's also incredibly perceptive, able to deduce people's true personalities and intentions just by interacting with them. Notably, he was smart enough to nigh effortlessly [[spoiler:copy the ImmortalBreaker upgrade the Ohgercalibur ZERO was given by ''the strongest being in the universe'' onto the other Kings' weapons in a very short period of time.]]
* YouCalledMeXItMustBeSerious: He has a tendency to do this whenever the situation has severely escalated.
** He uses Hymeno's proper name instead of the usual nickname "Hyme-''chan''" in #17 to signal that he's sincerely asking for her help with Nkosopa's evacuation.
** He calls Gira by his actual name in #23 instead of the usual "octomush" in order to reassure him of his duty.

* DreadfulDragonfly: He is themed on a dragonfly, though this is {{inverted}} in that he's a heroic character. [[BlueIsHeroic His color scheme]] also helps.
* FinishingMove:
** '''Ohger Finish:''' Has two variations.
*** Tombo Ohger charges the [=OhgerCalibur=] with energy and swings it, creating a cyclone that slashes the target and launches it into the air.
*** Tombo Ohger shrouds the [=OhgerCalibur=] in energy that takes the shape of a giant dragonfly's wing, enhancing his attacks.
** '''Ohger Shooting:''' Tombo Ohger charges the King's Weapon (Gun Mode) and fires a blue energy blast at the target.
* TheGunslinger: He favors Gun Mode when using the King's Weapon.
* ShieldBash: Sometimes uses the King's Weapon as a bludgeoning weapon. Doubles as PistolWhipping, given his favored mode.
* SwordAndGun: He proficiently wields both the [=OhgerCalibur=] and King's Weapon (Gun Mode) in battle.
* WeakButSkilled: He generally makes up for his lack of raw power with a pragmatic fighting style that focuses on gunplay and evasion.

* BerserkButton: Being flippant about what happened during the "Fury of the Gods". Jeramie very nearly gets himself killed by her as a result.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: As eccentric as she can be, Hymeno remains a deadly fighter that you ''do not'' want to piss off.
* BloodKnight: She can be quite bloodthirsty despite her penchant for beauty, often making comments about how she'll dispatch her enemies in a brutal manner.
--> '''Hymeno:''' [[PreAsskickingOneLiner You will serve my beautiful blade.]]
* BreakTheCutie: When she was a little girl, Hymeno had to witness her parents suffer a horrific death via poisoning by an unknown assassin. Even after fifteen years, the event still has a severe effect on her to this very day.
* AChildShallLeadThem: The untimely death of her parents forced her to become queen of Ishabana at a very young age.
* CombatMedic: She's not only a skilled physician, but a formidable fighter in her own right as well.
* CommonalityConnection: Remarks that she and Rita are a bit alike in #16, due to them both ascending as rulers of their respective kingdoms while kids as a direct result of the Fury of the Gods event.
* ConsummateProfessional: If there are any patients in need of treatment, she ''heavily'' insists on treating them ''personally''.
* ContrastingSequelProtagonist: [[Series/AvataroSentaiDonbrothers Haruka Kito]] was an average high-school girl who lives with her aunt who had a promising manga career, only for it to fall apart once she was chosen as a Donbrother. Hymeno was born into a life of royalty and inherited her role as queen and a Ranger after witnessing the death of her father and mother. Both of them have selfishness as a main trait of theirs, but while with Haruka it was a flaw that she needed to learn how to overcome in order to properly grow as a person and come to terms with her new circumstances, Hymeno's is shown to be a positive thing she uses as motivation to improve herself, the people she rules over, and the state of her kingdom. Haruka was also averse to killing someone, whereas Hymeno would do so with ''zero hesitation''.
* CulturedBadass: Befitting of her being the queen of a nation known for its dedication to the arts, she's a highly sophisticated ProperLady who places a high value on manners and appearances. She is able to exploit this during the ''Kyoryuger'' crossover by quickly recalling Candelilia's words about Earth's Melody, allowing the people of Earth to hear it once more, simultaneously granting the Kyoryugers the ability to transform again.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: #7 reveals that she was in the thick of the "Fury of the Gods" disaster, during which she witnessed her parents being assassinated by a hooded figure who had control over a cicada-themed Shugod.
* DeceasedParentsAreTheBest: Very much loved her parents and is hellbent on finding out who murdered them.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: When we are first introduced to her, Hymeno is shown to be rather pampered and haughty, actually delaying her departure to Shugodom ''just to finish putting on her makeup''. However, during the attack on Shugodom, she as Kamakiri Ohger immediately moves to protect Gira and several children from Bug Naraku soldiers.
* FatalFlaw: Wrath, more specifically her BerserkButton about losing her parents during the Fury of the Gods. Whenever she gets a hint or thinks someone is behind it, she flies into a blind rage and doesn't listen to others while losing the ability to think logically about it.
* TheGrimReaper: In a sense. Her King's Proof power grants her the ability to cull the living using an energy version of her scythe. Like with the other King's Proof powers, it's rather ironic given her kingdom's status as the center of medicine on the planet.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Zigzagged; she's primarily blond-haired and can be rather self-centered, though when the chips are down she does not hesitate to put her life on the line for others.
* HiddenDepths:
** While she puts up a front of being a selfish queen, it's revealed later on in #3 that she actually uses her desire for beautiful things to improve the lives of her people.
** #21 reveals her to be an expert piano player.
* TheHighQueen: She may be a selfish person, but she deeply cares for the lives of her people, putting her life on the line if it means that they are safe.
* ImageSong: "Golden Garden".
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Despite her self-indulgent attitude, she is still a hero and doctor at the end of the day, putting her life and beauty on the line to save her kingdom.
* KickingAssInAllHerFinery: Has by and large the largest variety of clothing in the group, with every single one of them being the most extravagant and opulent around. The number of episodes where she's fighting outside of her suit nearly matches the number where she's transformed, [[CombatStilettos high heels]] and all.
* MadBomber: Hymeno has a mildly disturbing affection towards explosives. She looks ''far'' too excited pushing the detonator to blow up a dilapidated house in #3, even though she did it for good reasons. And then there's [[ImprobableAimingSkills when she is using Guardian Snail]]... This tendency hilariously bites her back at the beginning of Arc 2, as it turns out that she got imprisoned for launching about '''''1000 megatons''' of fireworks''[[note]]To put it into context, the most powerful nuclear bomb - the Soviet Union's ''Tsar Bomba'' - had a yield of about 50 megatons, only ''20%'' of said fireworks explosion[[/note]], which naturally caused massive damage to ''every country''.
* MeaningfulName: Her first name is derived from the scientific name for the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hymenopus_coronatus orchid mantis]], '' '''Hymeno'''pus coronatus'', while her last name is derived from its Japanese name, '' '''ran'''hana kamakiri'' ('''蘭'''花蟷螂).
* MedicalMonarch: Is a talented doctor whose kingdom is at the forefront of medical science.
* NeatFreak: To the point where she swoons at the sight of a ''few drops of dirty water'' staining her path. Though ''that'' swiftly goes out the window when she sees her subjects in danger.
* NegativesAsAPositive: Hymeno doesn't hide her selfish nature in any way, though her indulgences are often to the benefit of her people. She also encourages her subjects to be more selfish in situations where selflessness only hurts them either physically or emotionally.
* NervesOfSteel: She gets God Scorpion back on the heroes' side by [[StaringDownCthulhu staring down the giant mechanical god]] and not flinching even when it has its stinger feet from her face.
* NoblewomansLaugh: Tends to break out into this when she's indulging her more... destructive urges.
* PrettyPrincessPowerhouse: She has the trappings of an [[PrincessClassic archetypical fairy-tale princess]], flowing ballgown and all, yet is ''far'' from helpless in a fight. Best shown in #14 when she nearly kills Jeramie all by herself.
* PunnyName: The "hyme" (''hime'') in her first name doubles as a play on "姫", the Japanese word for princess.
* RegalRinglets: She's the queen of the most opulent-looking country and almost always wears her hair in loose ringlets.
* RevengeBeforeReason: She tends to become narrow-minded when it comes to finding her parents' killer, even when the others call her out for it.
* SilkHidingSteel: Being the quintessential elegant, graceful, and refined queen doesn't stop her from being a deadly combatant who can take out anyone brave or foolish enough to stand in her way.
* SmarterThanYouLook: Her spoiled personality makes it easy to overlook that she's an incredibly competent physician and warrior.
* StuffBlowingUp: She has an inordinate fondness for explosions. It can range from benign like setting off fireworks at a festival to downright deranged by setting off ''a gigaton'' of explosives that would cause fires around Tikyū, which lands her in prison during the TimeSkip.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: Often at the receiving end of this, given [[TheOjou her personality]]. Many assume she's the type to never get herself dirty, but for the sake of her kingdom [[LadyOfWar she proves time and time again otherwise]]. [[spoiler:[[MasterOfDisguise Kamejim]] attempted to exploit this assumption of her by claiming a dirtied Hymeno could not be the real one, but this falls on deaf ears as she makes a BadassBoast about how true beauty can shine through even sullied surfaces.]]
* UnlimitedWardrobe: Her dress and hairstyle change almost every episode.
* TheWonka: By all rights, Hymeno is a fair and just ruler, a successful doctor, and a competent fighter. However, her self-centeredness tends to be ''really'' demanding in the most ridiculous of ways for those under her reign and towards the people who routinely interact with her. One such example that stands out is her having made her main butler not only change his name to Sebastian but, due to him being only 22 when he got hired, ''forced him to wear makeup heavy enough to make him look elderly'' in order to look like a more traditional butler in her eyes. [[spoiler: Though #36 reveals this wasn't for [[SoBeautifulItsACurse her sake.]]]]
* WorldsBestCharacter: In a kingdom known for its advanced healing capabilities and skilled medical practitioners, she's considered its best doctor.

* FinishingMove:
** '''Ohger Finish + Slash:''' Kamakiri Ohger charges her [=OhgerCalibur=] and King's Weapon with energy and unleashes multiple crescent [[SwordBeam beams]] at the enemy.
** '''Ohger Slash:''' Kamakiri Ohger delivers a flurry of spinning slashes with the King's Weapon (Naginata Mode).
* GlassCannon: Downplayed. She can deal an incredible amount of damage at high speeds, but her defenses can be on the poor side since she's focused on dealing as much damage as possible. She generally gets around this by evading enemy fire with her agility.
* KickChick: How she tends to fight while piloting King-Ohger.
* {{Pun}}: The activation phrase for her [=OhgerCalibur=], "Come and ''kick'' it", is a play on both her AnimalMotif and her fighting style whilst controlling King-Ohger, which involves ''kick''ing attacks.
* SinisterScythe: A heroic example; she favors Sickle Mode when using the King's Weapon, befitting her motif. This can be combined with her [=OhgerCalibur=] to form a larger scythe in place of the Naginata Mode.
* SlayingMantis: She is themed on a praying mantis.

* AffectionateNickname: Is dubbed "Rittan" by Moffun.
* AmbiguousGender: {{Invoked|trope}}; Rita keeps their true gender concealed in order to represent their neutrality as the arbiter of law and order.
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: Arc 2 starts off with most of the monarchs in jail for two years for various terrible reasons. Rita's? Voluntary imprisonment to spend their mandatory vacation.
* BaritoneOfStrength: They possess a formidably deep voice with the combat abilities to match.
* BerserkButton: Evidence that proves otherwise their initial notion that a criminal is guilty, which puts them in an increasingly tight spot over whether to declare them innocent instead. This often causes them to let out a SkywardScream whenever their investigations prove them wrong.
* BewareTheQuietOnes: Being prone to shouting on a regular basis aside, Rita is a monotone individual who just so happens to be a force of nature both in and out of combat.
* ByTheBookCop: Rita is insistent on adhering to the international code of law at all times, to the point where they can be a ObstructiveBureaucrat when the team attempts to do anything they consider to be extralegal.
* CassandraTruth: In #38, Rita goes undercover and infiltrates the idol competition in order to figure out the goals of the Five Jesters and if they can discover any weaknesses they could have. They inform the others of this multiple times as clearly as possible and yet somehow, the others don't believe them and interpret their idol guise as them going through some personal issues stemming from the burden of being the Chief Justice. It takes them screaming at everyone about what they were doing the entire time for them to get it through their heads.
--> '''Rita:''' I already told you! I've been investigating the Five Jesters... UN-DER CO-VER!
* CharacterTics: They often do {{Sword Plant}}s with their [=OhgerCalibur=] when dealing out judgements like a gavel. Their transformation pose also includes a sword plant.
* AChildShallLeadThem: Ascended the throne of Gokkan at only ten years old.
* TheComicallySerious: They remain serious regardless of the circumstances, even when bouncing ideas off a yeti plushie bigger than themselves or dealing with the team's antics.
* ColdHam: Their typical demeanor is stoic and their usual tone of voice is monotone, but Rita still manages to convey a great level of encompassing intensity when the situation calls for it.
* ConsummateProfessional: Rita constantly insists on gathering information personally and directly from the source. This allows for a more accurate deduction of innocence or guilt, as it ensures that whatever evidence they gather is genuine and not tampered with.
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: [[spoiler:They reveal in #30 that they have access to a technique known as the "Ice Seal", which allows the user to summon an ice prison to trap themself and a criminal that cannot be judged by the law.]]
* DarkIsNotEvil: Their civilian outfit is mostly black, but they are a heroic character in spite of their outwardly no-nonsense personality.
* DeceasedParentsAreTheBest: {{Defied|trope}}; Jeramie assumes this is the case in #38 when he finds a homemade Moffun plushie, only for Rita to reply that they are very much alive and well, with them even visiting occasionally.
* DefrostingIceQueen: They become more open about their thoughts and feelings around others as time goes on. This is best highlighted with their interactions with Hymeno: pre-timeskip, when Hymeno tries to relate to them about taking up their respective thrones at a very young age, Rita ''firmly'' puts a stop to this attempt of reaching out, making it clear that their position leaves no more room for them to be closer than need be. Post-timeskip, Rita accepts Hymeno's invention for tea and are willing to passionately discuss their seething hatred for scalpers after some prompting.
* DorkKnight: Rita is very socially awkward behind their stoicism, venting out their frustrations by roleplaying with Moffun plushies and tapping out of a situation by doing {{Skyward Scream}}s. They are also an incredibly formidable swordfighter and archer who rarely backs down from a fight.
* EasilyForgiven: Is ''beyond'' ticked off when Gira, Hymeno, Jeramie, and Morfonia ruin their infiltration in #38. When asked why they kept insisting on interfering despite their assurances that everything was fine, they reply that they worried due to being their friend. Rita softens up and declares then "not guilty".
* ElementalMotifs: Rita rules over a kingdom of ice and outwardly has the cold, detached personality to match their home country. In the fifth episode, they're even described by Kaguragi as being as merciless as ice.
* EveryoneCallsThemBarkeep: Downplayed. They tend to be referred to by their name and their title as Chief Justice in equal measure.
* EveryoneHasStandards:
** Despite their insistence on a neutral stance, Rita shows borderline disgust at Jeramie's cryptic and teasing attitude in #14 about his potential role in the "Fury of the Gods". They bluntly tell him during his trial that he's basically pouring salt on Hymeno's emotional wounds from that ''very'' traumatic event by insisting that she needs to read between the lines, even when he clearly had nothing to do with what happened.
** In #18, they actually try to have Racles arrested for broadcasting an attempt to execute Yanma and not buying the excuse one bit that Douga is making of it looking like "self-defense". This is severe enough for them to allow Gira to be the one to capture Racles for trial.
** In a more humorous light, they believe that scalpers are the lowest of the low, ''especially'' those that scalp Moffun merchandise.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: Their right eye is gray with black streaks while the left eye is brown. [[spoiler:#30 reveals this to be a side-effect of bearing the power of the [[DangerousForbiddenTechnique Ice Seal]], as those with a supposed talent for it have their eye color permanently altered when they gain it.]]
* {{Foil}}: To Kaguragi. Both are DarkIsNotEvil rulers that are dedicated to their duty no matter what may come with public personas that hide their true personality when dealing with the people around them; Rita's seemingly grim and straightlaced mask hides their poor social skills, being awkward enough in interacting with others that they can only relate their true feelings behind closed doors through a stuffed animal, while Kaguragi's seemingly generous and theatrical nature hides his more cunning and dishonest traits which allows him to manipulate the people around into doing his wants due to being so socially adept. Rita is less of a ruler and more of a warden over an unforgiving, icy landscape where people of all kinds are judged and is hated by the residents for their role, in contrast to Kaguragi, who is the very much beloved monarch of a country known for its bountiful and fertile lands.
* HeroWithBadPublicity: As Gokkan is completely made up of criminals (both jailed and reformed), Rita's people hate them for having cast judgement upon them to begin with. However, Rita considers this [[ThenLetMeBeEvil a necessary sacrifice]] to maintain Gokkan's authority over proper law and order, an act which Gira sympathizes them with.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Morfonia, with them promising each other repeatedly that they'd be together forever.
* HiddenDepths:
** They ''adore'' the ShowWithinAShow ''Moffun to Issho Ni'', using plushies from the show to decompress from the day's events. They even have a lavender sweatshirt with the titular Moffun on it.
** They are very astute and thorough detective when the situation calls for it.
** Is apparently very good at making funny faces.
** #38 attempts to give them more depth by presenting a childhood dream of being an idol. While they are able to dance and sing well if needed for an assignment, [[SubvertedTrope they immediately rebuke the mere idea and do their best to dissuade that notion.]] However, this is played straight with the idol competition as they get to show off some impressive singing and dancing skills.
** ''Adventure Heaven'' shows that they deal with the weight of their on the judgement of others much more harder than they show, even if it is their duty.
* HidingBehindYourBangs: Half of their face is covered by their hair to hide their heterochromia, which is revealed in #30 to be a symbol of the [[spoiler:[[DangerousForbiddenTechnique Ice Seal technique]]]].
* AnIcePerson: They have control over ice, first shown through their [[spoiler:DangerousForbiddenTechnique.]] Their King's Proof improves their control over it, allowing Rita to use it for more mundane uses like cooling down an overheating Kaguragi.
* ImageSong: A synth-rock version of "Moffun no Uta", which was used in #38 during the idol competition.
* MeaningfulName: Their first name is derived from the Japanese name for the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaniska_canace blue admiral butterfly]], ''ru'''rita'''teha'' (瑠璃立羽), while their last name is derived from its scientific name, '' '''Kaniska''' canace''.
* ModestRoyalty: In contrast to the previous king, Karras, who was dressed more like a quintessential queen, Rita dresses in a simple black ensemble with purple-and-white trim, which they have worn since childhood.
* MysteriousPast: Downplayed. While some aspects of their background - such as their prior position as Karras' aid and how they attained their odd eye - are known to the audience, much of their past is left unexplained, albeit with some hints.
* MysteriousWatcher: Rita was secretly following Gira (and the other rulers) in episodes #3-#4 due to them heading up an investigation into Gira's background.
* NotSoAboveItAll:
** It becomes clear that they're an endearingly dorky {{Otaku}} when you mention anything about Moffun, even during a trial. This goes as far as demanding Gira to pre-broadcast ''Moffun to Issho'' to Gokkan after winning their challenge against him - despite the fact that Shugodom has no jurisdiction over its broadcasting (that would be Ishabana).
** #28 sees them shooting at Yanma when they're supposed to be fighting against Goma because they're ''pissed'' at him for his actions earlier in the episode.
** Apparently, they went as far as pulling someone's hair during the monarchs' argument over their [[spoiler:united kingdom's name]] off-screen in #50.
* NotSoDifferentRemark: In #45, Rita recongizes their paralells to Kaguragi due to seeing his situation with Suzume similiar to their situation with Morphina.
--> '''Rita (to Suzume):''' "Kaguragi is willing to lie to himself, in service of his country. And in an effort conceal his true desires, he sometimes misjudges what he really wants. Kaguragi and I...are alike."
* NotSoStoic: Rita has a quite a few moments where they get annoyed due to the antics of the team or the evidence of the case. Their constant {{Skyward Scream}}s when they have completely tapped out are prime examples.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: They take their duties as a judge ''very'' seriously and will go out of their way to make sure Gokkan's ruling is accurate and fair. Even if they personally want to go with their gut feeling rather than do the work necessary, they still abide by the law rather than personal preference.
* PurpleIsPowerful: Their outfit has purple trim, and their royal status definitely results in a high level of decorum. This extends to their Ranger form, which is lilac in color. They are also the first ''primary'' Ranger to be purple, as all other examples are [[SixthRanger additional rangers that joined afterward.]]
* SanitySlippage: According to TV-Asahi's [[https://www.tv-asahi.co.jp/king-ohger/story/0027/ summary of #27]], Rita's overworking caused them to do and say random unintelligible things such as "Moffun is here". This led to them voluntarily incarcerating themself to finally spend their mandatory vacation. While they seem to be completely fine after their incarceration, Morphonia has a tendency to constantly worry about them as a result.
* SkywardScream: They tend to do this whenever their irritation reaches a certain limit, usually when their initial assumptions are proven wrong or when the other monarchs annoy them.
* TheStoic: Rita is described as very calm and collected, standing resolute no matter the task. Most of this has to do with their adherence of Gokkan's policy of neutrality, as well as their social awkwardness.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: As cold as ice itself, but has a righteous and compassionate soul just underneath.
* ThinkNothingOfIt: Their usual reaction to whenever someone thanks them for something, stating it is what is required by their position.
* TrashOfTheTitans: In reflection of [[NotSoStoic their personality]], Rita's personal study is secured with an unnecessary number of locks, hiding the fact that it's an unholy mess with books, papers, and clothing piled up in drifts. The center is the only place the mess doesn't reach because it's occupied by dozens of yeti plushies and dollhouse accessories.
* TheWonka: They cope with their social ineptitude by roleplaying with yeti plushies and randomly screaming when things don't go their way. That being said, they're an extremely competent judge and ruler who gives out fair judgments because they insist on getting evidence from the source.
* {{Workaholic}}: To the point that they had to sentence themself to jail for vacation due to suffering a mental breakdown.
--> '''Karras:''' You never did learn to take a break.

* BowAndSwordInAccord: Proficiently wields both the [=OhgerCalibur=] and King's Weapon (Bow Mode) in combat.
* CombatParkour: Their fighting style revolves around agility and making use of the environment (and sometimes the enemy) to their advantage, performing acrobatic moves for offense and avoiding enemy attacks.
* EnergyBow: The King's Weapon in Bow Mode, which can fire energy arrows.
* FinishingMove:
** '''Ohger Finish:''' Papillon Ohger swings the [=OhgerCalibur=], conjuring a flight of butterflies of light that swarms the enemy and disorients them. Papillon Ohger then charges in and unleashes a flurry of high-speed sword slashes, with the butterflies attaching themselves to the enemy and detonating.
** '''Ohger Shooting:''' Papillon Ohger charges the King's Weapon (Bow Mode) and launches a powerful energy arrow.
* OddNameOut: While the other four rangers' names for their insect motifs are in Japanese, Papillon Ohger's is in French.
* PrettyButterflies: Is themed on a butterfly, and is one of the heroes.
* TheStraightAndArrowPath: They favor Bow Mode when using the King's Weapon.

''The lordly king of bounty! Kaguragi Dybowski!'']]

* ActuallyPrettyFunny: His reaction to the FreakyFridayFlip, which stands in stark contrast to Hymeno's FreakOut, with whom he has switched bodies.
* AntiHero: His nation and people are always his top priority: if deception and manipulation are necessary to protect them, then so be it.
* BatmanGambit: His entire plan to manipulate Racles hinges on Racles' [[EntitledBastard sense of entitlement]] making him buy into Kaguragi's toady act and constant flattery, as well as his sister pretending to be in love with him, until the time is right for Kaguragi to make his move. Even with some hiccups, the plan works perfectly.
* BeneathTheMask: Underneath his hammy personality and traitorous tendencies lies a man deeply haunted by the events of the Fury of the Gods, going as far to as [[spoiler:change his entire personality and methodology to make up for not killing Iroki.]]
* BigBrotherInstinct: As revealed in #12, he will do anything, even aligning himself with Racles for the sake of his younger sister, Suzume, as the latter was in Racles' custody and her life was threatened. While it turns out that the entire thing was staged to get one over on Racles, it's clear that the two deeply care about one another.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: In an unusual heroic example, he may look gentle, but he’s willing to get his hands dirty in order to get what he wants. Despite this, he deeply cares for his people and his sister, with all of his more unsavory actions in service of ensuring Tofu's safety.
* CharacterDevelopment: Over the course of the series, Kaguragi starts to be more honest with the rest of his team, albeit while still keeping some secrets to himself. While he was initially willing to work with Racles for the safety of his kingdom, he doesn't even think of allying with the Galactinsects, [[spoiler:even when they take over Tofu, and when he ''does'' team up with Racles again, it's only after he learns that he's planning on taking down Dagded]].
* ContrastingSequelProtagonist: [[Series/AvataroSentaiDonbrothers Tsubasa Inuzuka]] was a falsely wanted JerkWithAHeartOfGold whose worst traits are his lack of [[NoSympathy sympathy]] and aggression towards others, but was still arguably the most grounded of his team despite being an outlaw. Kaguragi, on the other hand, [[BeneathTheMask is far more malicious than he initially seems]], often playing up his hammy persona to hide his dishonest and manipulative side, but it is all in service of aiding and protecting the kingdom he rules.
* CrocodileTears: One of his favorite manipulation tactics is to cry in an over-the-top manner that can make people put their guard down, even if they don't buy how serious he is about it.
* EveryoneHasStandards:
** Racles's attempt to [[LetNoCrisisGoToWaste blackmail the other nations into surrendering to him in exchange for humanitarian aid after the Bug Naraku's mass invasion in #9 and #10]] elicits such disgust out of Kaguragi that [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness he breaks his toady persona just to chew him out]].
** It's gradually made clear that as toady and manipulative Kaguragi is, he ''abhors'' Racles' entitlement and condescending behavior just as much as the other rulers, often planning on how he can secretly take down the king.
** This actually forms the backbone of how he came into power: the previous queen of Tofu, Iroki, hoarded all of the nation's food supply during the Fury of the Gods, leading to Kaguragi leading an uprising against her. [[spoiler: The truth turns out to be much more complicated than that.]]
* {{Foil}}: To Racles. Both are [[ManipulativeBastard Manipulative Bastards]] who have shown themselves more than willing to betray their allies in pursuit of their goals. However, while Racles views his subjects as disposable pawns, Kaguragi's scheming is an extension of his sense of duty towards his country and people. In addition, Kaguragi recognizes the need to put aside his ambitions and handle the larger crisis, whereas Racles chooses to take advantage of it. They also both have younger siblings, but where Kaguragi is overly protective of Suzume, Racles was willing to kill Gira when he got between the tyrant and his ambitions.
* FreudianExcuse: #37 reveals just how and why he became such a ConsummateLiar. [[spoiler: He was actually a much more honest person, but failing to go through with Iroki's order to kill her in order to protect Tofu, forcing her to kill herself to maintain the lie. All of his two-faced behavior in the series has been him trying to make up for his MomentOfWeakness.]]
* HeroicBSOD: The aftermath of his confrontation with Iroki during the Fury of the Gods sees him traumatized to the point of having a ThousandYardStare, [[spoiler:though not for the reason that it appears to be.]]
* HiddenDepths: The Fury of the Gods event left him ''far'' more traumatized than he lets on. [[spoiler: As it turns out, he was a much honest man prior to becoming Tofu's ruler. However, when Iroki demanded he strike her down in order to prop up the lie that she was attempting in order to protect the nation's reputation, he couldn't go through with it due to his honesty. After realizing the truth behind her actions, Kaguragi became a much more deceitful man in order to properly protect Tofu.]]
* ImageSong: "Gyouten Chindouchuu".
* ImmuneToMindControl: Kaguragi's social expertise is so vast even ''he'' can't take himself seriously at times, which makes him unable to take orders from anyone, even ''himself''. This means that when Hilbil tries her mind control on him, Kaguragi isn't fazed in the ''slightest''.
* InvisibilityCloak: #18 reveals that his jacket functions as one whenever he puts the hood up.
* TheKingslayer: ''Adventure Heaven'' implies that he killed Iroki during his rebellion. [[spoiler:#37 ultimately reveals that she ordered him to kill her as part of her ZeroApprovalGambit, but he could not bring himself to do so.]]
* LargeHam: Behaves and speaks like a ''kabuki'' performer to play up his image as a pacifistic ruler.
* LovableTraitor: It's an OpenSecret that Kaguragi is PlayingBothSides and he doesn't try very hard to hide his duplicitous side around the other monarchs. Unlike Racles however, his motives are firmly (or at least, more transparently) rooted on the side of his people, which is why the rulers put up with it. Best exemplified in #17, where Yanma points out how he very conveniently kept Gira's survival of the duel a secret despite how easy it would've been to interfere.
--> '''Yanma''': ''(to Kaguragi)'': Always PlayingBothSides, aren't ya? But, that makes me trust you more.
* ManipulativeBastard: Very, ''very'' good at manipulating people by using a facade of goodwill. It makes him a morally unsavory character and also a genuinely excellent ruler.
* MeaningfulName:
** His first name is derived from ''kaburahabachi''/カブラハバチ, the Japanese name for the turnip sawfly.
** His last name is derived from the scientific name for [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vespa_dybowskii the black hornet]], ''Vespa '''dybowskii'''''.
* MirrorCharacter: His manipulative and two-faced nature makes him one to Racles when the FirstEpisodeTwist came into play. However, these aspects of his personality are used in the name of protecting the people of his kingdom and its prosperity, while Racles views himself as the kingdom itself, seeing the people he's supposed to look after as tools to further his goals.
* MyGreatestFailure: [[spoiler: Not killing Iroki during the Fury of the Gods, despite her ordering him to do so. He became the manipulative, two-faced liar that he is today in order to make up for it.]]
* MySisterIsOffLimits: Due to his BigBrotherInstinct, he is utterly ''disgusted'' by Suzume's apparent attraction towards Racles and is often seen disapproving of it. #45 even sees him smash a block of ice with his bare hands after seeing her coddle up to Racles. [[spoiler:However that episode also ends with him subverting it by letting his sister pursue her own happiness with Racles.]]
* NegativesAsAPositive: Kaguragi is a ConsummateLiar with a penchant for backstabbing and PlayingBothSides. However, these tendencies are solely in service to his people rather than for any personal gain and a lot of the scheming he gets up to actually benefits the other monarchs rather than hinder them. It also [[spoiler: makes him ImmuneToMindControl, as Hilbil found out the hard way]].
* NotSoDifferentRemark: In #45, Kaguragi recongizes his paralells to Rita due to seeing their situation with Morphina similiar to his situation with Suzume.
--> '''Kaguragi (to Morphonia):''' "Justice Rita is unable to share honest feelings. A willingess to repress, out of a dedication to neutrality. You were not considered a potential successor...to protrct you. Justice Rita and I...are alike."
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness:
** Racles attempting to strongarm an alliance with the other kingdoms during the middle of a crisis in #10 causes Kaguragi, who is normally chummy and welcoming, to call out the Shugodom monarch for trying to play politics.
** When Racles threatens his sister, Kaguragi's smarmy behavior crumbles to reveal an increasingly worried brother who is very much in a tight bind.
* PlayingBothSides: While Kaguragi is willing to work with the other rulers in their scheming, he's also playing toady to Racles and is fine with subverting his role in the kingdoms' agendas to maintain the image. Hymeno calls him out for it at the start of #8, [[ShutUpKirk which gets a dismissive response out of him]]. #12 implies that he is forced to do so due to Racles holding his younger sister hostage. This is subverted as of #18, as it's revealed he has been playing Racles all along with his sister to steal the [=OhgerLance=] to give it to a person who is more "worthy" - that person being Gira. In his conversation with Yanma in #19, he states that his people always come first, which is why he betrayed Racles in the first place.
* PlayingWithFire: Initially downplayed as he uses FlamingSword attacks as Hachi Ohger, his King's Proof grants him increased control over it to the point where he can control fire even while untransformed.
* PurpleIsTheNewBlack: Averted. His color representation in certain media such as the opening sequence and his PowerGlow uses ''orange'' instead of purple, because there's already a purple ranger on the team.
* RagsToRiches: He was born a humble farmer before seizing the throne after the Fury of the Gods.
* RapidAging: PlayedForLaughs. #43 reveals that he somehow grew up to be a fully-grown adult at the age of ''10'' due to excellent nutrition and sleeping habits.
* {{Realpolitik}}: His main aim is to make sure he and Tofu come out on top, no matter what it takes. This results in him manipulating ''everyone'' in order to advance his goals.
* ShellShockedVeteran: The revolution that caused his ascension left him riddled with intense trauma and guilt, stemming from his failure to [[spoiler:kill Iroki on her request.]] #37 sees this manifesting in a series of traumatic flashbacks from that very day, triggered by Iroki's revival.
* SmarterThanYouLook: Underneath his gentle and hammy facade lies an expert liar and negotiator who is able to manipulate people to his will by playing to their desires.
* TheSocialExpert: He's an expert negotiator with a silver tongue that allows him to lie and manipulate others to get what he wants, though usually [[WellIntentionedExtremist it's for the sake of his people]].
* SuperStrength: Enough to single-handedly lift and toss a dining table full of dishes into the air. His combat style as Hachi Ohger also makes use of this.
* SupremeChef: He's quite the exceptional cook, so much so that it gets the others to openly {{Squee}} at its sheer deliciousness. In fact, upon sampling a feast he prepared, Gira, Yanma, and Hymeno were more focused on fighting for bigger portions than the Bug Naraku invasion.
* TokenEvilTeammate: Of the Ohsama Sentai. While he does genuinely serve his kingdom as a good ruler unlike [[HateSink Racles]], he's also a ruthless ManipulativeBastard who uses underhanded tactics to get his way, [[DownplayedTrope but]] it's usually for the sake of his people.
* TookALevelInCynic: An odd example in which this is presented as a ''positive'' thing. The flashbacks in #37 showed that he was a far more honest and earnest man prior to becoming the Lord of Tofu. [[spoiler: However, [[CynicismCatalyst seeing Iroki kill herself in order to protect the country's reputation made him forego this]] in order to become the kind of man that Tofu needs in order to protect it.]]
* UsedToBeASweetKid: Before the Fury of the Gods, Kaguragi was an honest rice farmer whose crops impressed Iroki enough to have him serve directly under her. The disaster and the 17 years of hard choices he made transformed him into the manipulator he's become in the modern day.
* TheUsurper: #15 reveals him to be a heroic version, as he staged a rebellion to overthrow the previous queen after learning that she was hoarding food from the people.

* ShockwaveStomp: Decimates a horde of Sanagim in this manner in #4.
* VirtuousBees: Alternates between this and WickedWasps; he's themed on a bee/hornet and is on the good guys' side, but not exactly what you would call an ideal hero.

* TheAce: Easily defeats Dethnaarok in #12 whereas the core five combined could only barely match him. The following episode has him near effortlessly defeating the others and confiscating their [=OhgerCaliburs=] in only a few minutes.
* AllForNothing:
** After successfully bringing peace between the Bug Naraku by succeeding Dethnarok on the throne, Jeramie's people were the first to be wiped out by the Galactinsects, leaving him with nobody but Gerojim and miscellaneous Sanagim under his rule.
** Hilbil's antics force Jeramie to [[spoiler:sacrifice the goodwill he gained from others to help the other monarchs, making his people pariahs of the entire planet.]] Fortunately, the other monarchs were able to clear his name.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: In the very same episode where he has been stated to have been aiding and advising the Bug Naraku for centuries ''even up to a millennium'' if Dethnaarok's words are true, he betrays them when they were about to fully unleash their plan to destroy humanity once and for all, stealing the Greater Shugods' spirits to use for his own ends. #12 reveals he's NotEvilJustMisunderstood, seeking to stop the war between humanity and the Bug Naraku by interfering with both sides.
* AmbiguouslyHuman: While he ''looks'' human, many things cast Jeramie as being far more; when he crashed Gira's "funeral", he is able to lift the coffin containing him with one hand and jump a far great distance without needing to transform. At the beginning of that same episode, his conversation with Dethnaarok and Kamejim heavily implies that he's far, ''far'' OlderThanHeLooks. #12 reveals him to be a [[HalfHumanHybrid human-Bug Naraku hybrid]].
* AnimalMotifs: Spiders. Not only does he possess arachnid-like abilities, [[SneakySpider he's cunning enough]] to have played both the Ohsama Sentai and Bug Naraku.
* BeenThereShapedHistory:
** #12 reveals that he's the one who created the prophecies that motivate both the monarchs and the Bug Naraku alike, as well as directly intervening to make sure said prophecies come true through working with others like Yanma's mentor Gin.
** Averted and PlayedForLaughs in #14, where it was hinted that he had something to do with the "Fury of the Gods" incident, only for it to be revealed that he was just sleeping while it was occurring.
** #24 reveals that the original legend that he wrote inadvertently bred the Bug Naraku's hatred towards humanity, as it depicted them as the villains of the story for seemingly no reason.
* BeneathTheMask: #12 reveals that underneath his confident, yet cryptic demeanor lies a broken man who feels incredibly guilty about his parents' fates ([[{{Unperson}} namely, his father getting erased from history]]). As such, he's trying to create his own legend to give them some justice.
* BerserkButton: The only thing that can send Jeramie into a fit of rage is touching his Venomix Shooter without his consent and/or even abusing it, given that ''[[TragicKeepsake his mother passed it on to him]] [[spoiler:[[TragicKeepsake before she passed away]]]]'', as [[CurbStompBattle Yanma learned the hard way.]] Notably, in #19, he's on board with it when Yanma ''actually asks'', implying it was more the act of doing so without his permission than the act itself.
* BreakTheHaughty: His sheer naïveté to the nuances of the current situation between the Bug Naraku and humanity gradually catch up to him as it becomes very clear that the two races have no way of peacefully reuniting. This culminates in a HeroicBSOD that lasts for a good two episodes as a result of his disillusionment.
* BrokenAce: He's the most powerful of the main characters because of his experience and powers granted by his Bug Naraku side. He's also incredibly haunted by his parents' fates even after two millennia, becoming obsessed with storytelling to end the war between humanity and the Bug Naraku so that he can bring some justice to his parents.
* CareerRevealingTrait: Defied. During his speech in Ishabana, Hymeno takes notice of the back of Jeramie's outfit, which conspicuously has the Bug Naraku logo etched. She keeps the detail to herself and the rulers' subsequent accusations stem solely from their growing paranoia and Jeramie's unwillingness to be straightforward.
* CharacterCatchphrase:
** "...from what I have heard/apparently"[[note]]。。。とさ/''to sa''; [[{{Woolseyism}} translated by Over-Time and TV-Nihon]] as, respectively, "or so the story goes" and "so that happened"[[/note]], usually said at the end of his narration or after he exposits on something.
** He's also very partial to "oh my/well now"[[note]]おっと/''otto''[[/note]].
* CharacterNarrator: He's the storyteller who has been narrating the series' events.
* ChildOfTwoWorlds: Deconstructed. He's the ChildOfForbiddenLove between the human sixth warrior and a Bug Naraku woman. He declares himself king of the "in-betweens" -- the marginal peoples who don't quite belong to the Five Kingdoms or the Bug Naraku - and wanted both parts of his heritage to co-exist. However, his [[AllForNothing goal is beyond his reach]] since he made the choice to demonize his mother's people in the King-Ohger prophecy and manipulated many for his own self-gain. As a result, any reconciliation between humanity and the Bug Naraku is outright impossible.
* ComplexityAddiction: Refuses to [[CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot just explain his motivations]] to the other monarchs because there would be no "artistry" in doing things that way. This gets him labeled as an enemy in #12 and nearly gets him killed in #14.
* ContrastingSequelProtagonist:
** [[Series/AvataroSentaiDonbrothers Jiro Momotani]] was the Gold/Silver Ranger of his team and a survivor of the Don Clan, as well as a boisterous muscle-head with an antagonistic second personality. Jeramie is the White Ranger of his team and the child of a human and a Bug Naraku, and an overtly suave schemer who has been PlayingBothSides. Jiro also gained zero respect from his team-mates for the majority of the show and had to deal with [[spoiler: the trauma of his time in Kakamura Village being an elaborate BodySurf campaign by the Penguin Juto]] on his own. Jeramie meanwhile gains the monarchs' respect very quickly and the first major point of his CharacterDevelopment is realizing that YouAreNotAlone.
** Both [[Series/GoseiSentaiDairanger Kou]] and Jeramie are the Sixth and White Rangers of their respective teams who are hybrids of humans and their series' antagonist factions. While Kou rejected his Gorma heritage, seeing it as a curse, Jeramie accepts his Bug Naraku side and seeks coexistence between the two races. Kou was nine years old when he became a Ranger, in sharp contrast to the two millennia-year-old Jeramie.
** Both [[Series/KaitouSentaiLupinrangerVsKeisatsuSentaiPatranger Noël Takao]] and Jeramie are the Sixth Rangers of their respective series that work with both sides of a conflict. While Noël's goal turns out to be protecting the Lupin Collection, causing him to be always opposed to the Gangler as well as siding with the Lupinrangers over the Patrangers when push came to shove, Jeramie is a genuine third party in the human-Bug Naraku conflict, which means he's willing to work with or fight both sides to further his aim.
* ConspicuousGloves: Wears an ornate glove on his right hand to hide his status as half-Bug Naraku. #12 reveals that [[RedRightHand the entire arm is of chitin rather than flesh and blood]]. He promptly stops wearing the glove from #13-onwards presumably since his identity as a HalfHumanHybrid was revealed to the team.
* ControlFreak: Downplayed. While he isn't oppressively behind the other monarchs' shoulders, he ''does'' operate on the assumption that all of the rulers are power-seekers, making him InnocentlyInsensitive to the nuances of their various personal differences and the priority of defending their kingdoms over making peace with the Bug Naraku. Jeramie treats both sides of the war like children who need supervision and continuously interferes in their matters in an attempt to corral them together, justifying it with his intent to rule over all. Jeramie's inability to acknowledge these finer details often contributes to, rather than solves, the issues at hand. This extends into his relationship with the Guardian Shugods. The three of them are willing to fight alongside him but he prefers to control them using God Tarantula's threads. When he tries this to ensnare King-Ohger and form Extreme King-Ohger, he not only creates an incomplete version but struggles to hold the forced combination together. This lets God Kuwagata ZERO blast the shugods apart.
* CreateYourOwnVillain: #24 reveals that his story, which painted the Bug Naraku as the bad guys against the original heroes, pushed them to become a villainous death cult, making his efforts at attempting to reconcile humanity and the Bug Naraku in vain.
* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype:
** Of the HiddenAgendaHero. Jeramie relishes in his love of secrecy so much that he fails to realize how much he alienates any potential allies because of it. Several characters point out how things would be much easier if he was just honest about his plans.
** Of the HeroicNeutral. As noble as his goal of peace between humans and Bug Naraku is, he is so focused on ensuring the conflict doesn't end violently that not only is he willing to sabotage both sides when one has an advantage; he also fails to think about the possibility that the battle between humanity and the Bug Naraku ''can't'' end peacefully, which Racles exploits in #17 and #18.
* DelayedNarratorIntroduction: He’s been narrating the show since the first episode, but doesn’t appear in person until #11.
* EveryoneHasStandards: For all of his harping for peace between humanity and the Bug Naraku, he loathes Racles' behavior, often calling him a brat.
* FacialMarkings: Has an unknown crest tattooed on his forehead, along with two smaller ones under his eyes.
* FamedInStory: The in-universe tales of the "spider-man" turn out to be sightings of Jeramie.
* FatalFlaw:
** Pride. His penchant for ProverbialWisdom as a storyteller has him expect everyone else to be on par with him whenever he uses a HurricaneOfAphorisms to try to convey a message. Unfortunately, everyone else around him is not as linguistic as he'd hoped, which turns any communication with him into a CrypticConversation where PoorCommunicationKills more often than not. Adding to the problem is that he often forgets to apply or know the context, which causes further misunderstandings and [[InnocentlyInsensitive unintentional insults.]]
** [[ControlFreak Need for control]]. Jeramie's long-lived life and reliance on subtext have ingrained in him the idea that he needs to be everyone's caretaker and provide "discipline," which is where much of his frivolity as a WildCard comes from. This makes him exceptionally prone to [[NiceJobBreakingItHero misguidedly interfering in others' business and making their situations worse]], which only alienates him more.
* {{Foil}}: To Gira as both of them obtained the right to become ruler of their respective kingdoms after dueling and defeating one of the two that made up the BigBadEnsemble of Part I - Gira winning against Rcules for the Kingdom of Shugoddam, Jeramie winning against Dethnaarok for the Bognaarok Empire (renamed the Kingdom of the In-between after officially becoming the sixth kingdom of Tikyu). Gira, [[DarkIsNotEvil who mainly wears black and red clothing]], started out as the least experienced of the team due to originally being an orphan, but easily gained the trust and aid of the other Kingohgers due to his compassion and willingness to help them, while Jeramie, [[LightIsGood who is always seen in white clothing]], is by far the most experienced of the team due to being LongLived, but pushed away the others thanks to his obession with wanting others to read the subtext in his words instead of being straightforward about what he was saying.
* FourthWallObserver: Takes to address the camera directly while delivering his narration from #12 onwards.
* HalfBreedDiscrimination: Is immediately declared not worthy of existence by Dethnaarok, due to his "halfling nature".
* HalfHumanHybrid: His father was the sixth legendary warrior who was erased from history due to his relationship with a Bug Naraku.
* HeavySleeper: His long lifespan has caused him to become one, to the point where he can take a ''year-long nap'' without any issue. Apparently, during one of these naps, he appeared as a corpse from the outside and was presented as one during a sideshow, [[SleptThroughTheApocalypse which is when the "Fury of the Gods" happen]].
* HeroWithBadPublicity: He becomes this [[spoiler:in #28 when he deliberately takes the fall for himself and the Bug Naraku so that the other monarchs don't resign sacrificing his dream of coexistence between humans and Bug Naraku. The monarchs' BatmanGambit in #31 eventually gets his name cleared.]]
* HeroicBSOD: He goes through a massive one from #17-#19 due to his failures in uniting the Bug Naraku and humanity, as well as Racles' betrayal. It takes him and Yanma repeating the whoopee cushion prank on Racles back from #13 for him to finally break out of it in #19.
* HeroicNeutral: He is initially presented as a pacifist who wants to remain neutral in the conflict between the Ohsama Sentai and the Bug Naraku. Over the course of the series, he becomes much more affiliated with the team as the conflict escalates beyond his control, eventually culminating in him fully aligning himself with the team just before he becomes the king of the Bug Naraku.
* TheHighKing: He initially sought to become the ruler of all Tikyū. However, his revelations about the legend that he wrote make him change his goal to becoming the king of the Bug Naraku instead.
* HistoryRepeats: Subverted. His father was the sixth hero of yore -- erased from history for falling in love with a Bug Naraku agent and eloping with her, conceiving Jeramie. Jeramie is visibly fearful when the modern kings, tired of his obfuscating word games, deem him an enemy agent. However, revealing his origins as a HalfHumanHybrid and a plan to unite the races thaws their opinion of him and gains the monarchs' sympathy.
* HybridPower: He's a Bug Naraku/Human hybrid and one of the most powerful characters currently in the show.
* {{Hypocrite}}: In #13, Jeramie flies off the handle at Yanma for misusing the Venomix Shooter, a memento of his mother, being inconsiderate of his feelings, and not reading between the lines. However, during the very next episode, he blatantly ignores the subtext behind Hymeno's actions and words towards him, becoming incredibly dismissive of her feelings as a result.
* IgnoredEpiphany: In #17, he has a HeroicBSOD as he comes to realize that hostilities will never end peacefully between humans and the Bug Naraku. Unfortunately, he ends up deluding himself as he comes to realize that as the future king of Tikyū, he can't allow himself to be pulled to and fro by the conflicting arguments of either side and must work ''even harder'' to achieve his goal, leading him to forcibly combine King-Ohger with God Tarantula.
-->'''Jeramie:''' I will never allow my protagonist role to be overtaken again!
* ImageSong: "Senjou no Trickster".
* ImmortalityBeginsAtTwenty: Jeramie had the Sixth Hero's King's Proof implanted into his chest, giving him immortality. While he grew up as a child normally, he's looked like a twenty-something man for most of his life otherwise.
* InconsistentSpelling: His first name has been alternatively rendered as "Jeremy".
* {{Irony}}: Something that hits him harshly as a storyteller.
** The warrior who prides himself on his storytelling turns out to be the worst communicator of them all, due to his penchant for the cryptic and complicated. He also wants people to read between the lines regarding his stories, when he also fails to read between the lines when other people are trying to tell him something, such as Hymeno's TraumaButton arising in #14.
** A child born from a human and a Bug Naraku, who desired to end wars between humans and Bug Naraku alike, yet he was the one who depicted the Bug Naraku as the villains in the legend he wrote.
* ItsAllAboutMe: In a more literal sense. Turns out his storytelling of "one man's journey to becoming king" has been referring to ''[[AndThatLittleGirlWasMe himself]]'' all along.
* KnowNothingKnowItAll: His long lifespan has given him the opinion that he knows everything that he's talking about, which is why he believes that he's the most fit to ensure peace between the Bug Naraku and humanity. It quickly becomes clear that he's incredibly ignorant of the nuances of the political side of the conflict, which naturally causes his attempts at peace to fail miserably.
* LemonyNarrator: He sometimes [[GreekChorus adds in his own two cents]] during his narrating. He also continues to refer to himself in the third person in the opening narration, even after his reveal in #11.
* LightIsGood: His wardrobe is a shining white with gold accents, which extends to his Ranger suit, but he wants to be presented as a neutral WildCard. He eventually becomes a true example of this after aligning himself with the team.
* LongGame: According to Dethnaarok, he's been giving advice to him and his forces for centuries and has spent that spreading the legend of Legend King-Ohger to humanity and the Bug Naraku all so he to arrange the moment where he can take the Greater Shugods and obtain a secret key that'll unlock his own sealed away power.
* LovesSecrecy: Jeramie takes delight in twisting his words and teasing knowledge he has to vex other people. However, he ''also'' expects people to understand his {{Subtext}} and gets visibly vexed when they can't (or won't) play along. This naturally backfires on him more times than not, such as in #12 when his word games nearly get him marked as an enemy agent; and in #14, when his antics cause Hymeno to fixate on the idea that he has to be the man who killed her parents during the Fury of the Gods.
* LukeYouAreMyFather: #24 has him reveal that he and Dethnaarok are kinsmen.
* ManipulativeBastard: Makes Kaguragi and Racles look like amateurs in comparison, given the fact that he's been apparently giving advice to Dethnaarok and his Empire for ''centuries'' only for it to be made very clear that he's been using them all along for his own mysterious ends the entire time.
* MeaningfulName: His first and last names are derived from genera of arachnids that pre-date spiders, in reference to his ancient origins.
** His first name is derived from ''palaeotarbus '''jerami''''', the oldest species of the extinct [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trigonotarbida Trigonotarbida order]] of arachnids. It's also a reference to Jeremiah, the Weeping Prophet in the [[Characters/BooksOfKings Old Testament]].
** His last names are derived from ''[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idmonarachne idmonarachne brasieri]]'', an extinct species of arachnid from the Late Carboniferous Period. The "''narach''" is also a {{pun}} of "Naraku/Rag'''narök'''", alluding to his connection to the Bug Naraku and his relation to Dethnaarok.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: #24 sees Jeramie gradually realize the full extent of his prophecies' influence, as he finds out from Dethnaarok and Boone that the only reason the Bug Naraku and humanity hate each other is because of the original legend ''that he wrote''. This notably takes a toll on his morale until Gerojim snaps him out of it.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero:
** Jeramie left hints for humanity on how to form Legend King-Ohger within the prophecy as well as the locations of the Shugod souls for the Bug Naraku to find, making him partly responsible for the show's recent tragedies. #24 expands upon this, as Jeramie realizes that the prophecy that he wrote caused the animosity between the Bug Naraku and humanity because of his choice to portray the former as the "villains" of the tale.
** Any time he tries to force an event to work towards his ideals, he ends up making things worse for everyone except the villains.
* NomDeMom: #31 reveals that one of his surnames, Idmonaarok Ne, is his mother's.
* NotEvilJustMisunderstood: Jeramie introduces himself as a WildCard that intrudes within the lives of both of the warring factions -- teasing about knowing things he shouldn't and being deliberately antagonistic to force a response out of everyone. This secrecy gives off a bad impression that almost turns everyone against him, forcing him to finally drop the act and out himself as a peace-seeker who wants to end the human-Bug Naraku conflict.
* ParentalAbandonment: His mother died while protecting him from the other Bug Naraku soldiers, while his father's fate, aside from being {{Unperson}}ed, is yet to be known.
* SadClown: His jovial exterior belies an enormous amount of heartbreak over his parents' fates and his status as a hybrid between two conflicting factions.
* SelfFulfillingProphecy: He wrote the prophecy of the heroes of yore and [[TheManBehindTheMan has spent centuries arranging events in ways that make them come true]].
* ShipperOnDeck: He tries to help Yanma win Hymeno's hand in marriage in #36. Emphasis on ''[[EpicFail tries]]''.
* ShoutOut: His AnimalMotif, crafty personality, and his status as TheStoryteller are evocative of Anansi, the spider trickster god of stories in Myth/AkanMythology.
* SkilledButNaive: While he's arguably one of ''the'' strongest characters due to his experience and mastery over his hybrid powers, he can be quite dense to the sheer hostility between the Bug Naraku and humans, failing to recognize that there isn't a true option for peace between the both of them and calling everyone that disagrees with him selfish. When he's finally confronted with this in #17, he deludes himself into believing that he just needs to work even harder in order to achieve his goals.
* SpannerInTheWorks: Works as a two-fold example in #11:
** The monarchs planned on having Gira burst out of the casket at his own funeral in order to discredit Racles and cause him to lose his right to Shugodom's throne. Jeramie crashing it and stealing the casket before Gira could break out of it in front of everyone ruins those plans.
** The Bug Naraku just succeeded in disabling Legend King-Ohger with the bombs they've secretly planted and were about to steal away the souls of the Greater Shugods, until Jeramie swoops in to steal them for himself.
* SpiderManSendUp: He has pretty much the full package of Spider-Man's powers: ProjectileWebbing, SuperStrength, [[WallCrawl wall-crawling]], and [[InASingleBound super leaping]], with his color scheme as a Ranger being an allusion to Anti-Venom, though Jeramie is a WildCard rather than a straight-up hero.
* TheStoryteller: Refers to himself as the storyteller who will tell the legend of the Ohsama Sentai. #12 elaborates on this, as he states that he is the one that created the prophecy Tikyū knows in the present day.
* TakingTheHeat: Does this in #28 [[spoiler: to prevent the other monarchs from having to give over their thrones to their retainers in order soothe over international relations. Luckily, he and the Bug Naraku's name get cleared in #31 thanks to the team's BatmanGambit.]]
* TimeAbyss: He claims to be an elder to the current Bug Naraku regime, [[Really700YearsOld who have existed for at least 2,000 years]], yet [[TheAgeless looks no older than his early twenties]]. The next episode reveals that he was born not long after the Bug Naraku's defeat by the legendary heroes.
* TragicDream: Due to his half-Bug Naraku nature, he seeks to end hostilities between humanity and the Bug Naraku and for there to be peace between both sides. Considering that the Bug Naraku are anything but peaceful, it becomes increasingly clear that it's far from a reasonable goal.
* TragicKeepsake: The Venomix Shooter was passed down to him from his mother [[spoiler:after she passed away from battling with Daigorg]].
* TreacherousAdvisor: Has been advising Dethnaarok for apparently over ''a millennia'' only to backstab him and take the three greater guardian spirits for his own ends.
* VirtuousCharacterCopy:
** Acts as this to [[Series/KousokuSentaiTurboranger Yamimaru]], being an ages-old HalfHumanHybrid whose parents' races waged battle for a long time and sought to rule over both. The difference is while Yamimaru believed peace between humans and Bōma was impossible while resenting both for rejecting him, Jeramie believed Humans and Bug Naraku can live together peacefully and saved his anger for those who disrupt the peace he sought.
** Also functions as one for [[Series/PowerRangersLostGalaxy Trakeena]], both being human-like members of an insect race that start off as antagonistic nobodies before suceeding a relative as ruler of their faction. But while Trakeena was a villain who gradually got more evil and killed her mentor/advisor Villamax, Jeremie was an AntiHero who became TheGoodKing and mantained a strong bond with his advisor Gerojim.
* WarringNatures: Humanity and the Bug Naraku have been at odds for ages. The sixth hero fell in love with a Bug Naraku agent and was ostracized for it; the two conceiving HalfHumanHybrid Jeramie in secret. He now seeks justice for this slight in the present day by quelling the factions' mutual warring.
* WhoWantsToLiveForever: Jeramie ponders the worth of his immortality in #46 thanks to Racles ArmorPiercingQuestion, believing that spending eternity without the rest of the team will only lead to loneliness. [[spoiler:This revelation causes him to implant the crystal that granted his immortality into Grodie, effectively making him mortal.]]
* WideEyedIdealist: Ironically, Jeramie has shades of this. He is so determined to believe that peace can be achieved between humans and the Bug Naraku that he's willing to try working with [[OmnicidalManiac Dethnaarok]] and [[LackOfEmpathy Racles]]. Of course, both alliances fail miserably once he tries to make peace with either of them.
* WildCard: His ultimate goal is to bring peace between humanity and the Bug Naraku, which means he'll assist or obstruct both sides as he deems necessary and turn from one to another on a dime. After undergoing a massive HeroicBSOD over his failures to unite the two races, he becomes much more inclined to work with the monarchs.
* WrongGenreSavvy: Jeramie believes he's in a twist-laden show like ''Franchise/KamenRider'' where allegiances change at the drop of a hat and most times, the truth ''can'' be seen between the lines. However, as he is in ''Super Sentai'', where most of the time, the team members are quirky (up to and including their HotBlooded leader) and the conflicts are generally more straightforward, his words fail to take hold until far, ''far'' past the point of no return where he has to come clean and explain plainly purely as a means of damage control rather than preventing the damage in the first place.

!!!Tropes exclusive to Spider Kumonos

[[caption-width-right:210:''Guys! Go!''[[note]]A {{pun}} on 解放/''kaihō''/"release"[[/note]] '''''Spider Kumonos!''''']]
* ArachnidAppearanceAndAttire: Has a spider-themed suit and weapons.
* CoolKey: Uses special ''Kumonos'' keys to gain access to his abilities. By inserting them into his gear and turning the locks, he can perform various actions, and of course, transform.
** '''Change''' Kumonos Key: White and Gold. The transformation key allows the wielder to don the armor of Spider Kumonos by inserting it into the Kumonoslayer.
** '''Venomix''' Kumonos Key: Purple and Black. Powers the shots and functions of the Venomix Shooter.
** '''Shugod''' Kumonos Key: Silver and Black. Summons his primary Shugod, God Tarantula.
* FinishingMove:
** '''Dancing King:''' Spider Kumonos charges the Kumonoslayer with energy and delivers a powerful slash.
** '''Head Rocket:''' Spider Kumonos fires a poison energy blast from the Venomix Shooter.
** '''Hydro Venom:''' Spider Kumonos charges the Venomix Shooter and fires a sphere of poison energy at the enemy.
** '''Spider Finish:''' Spider Kumonos manifests [[MultiArmedAndDangerous energy spider legs]] from his back, which he uses to attack the enemy.
* GoldColoredSuperiority: His suit has gold accents, and he is strong enough to go toe-to-toe with Dethnaarok, while it took all of the main five to even wound him.
* MasterOfIllusion: The Venomix Shooter is capable of creating convincing fiery illusions that only dispel when it calls out the word "Fake".
* OddNameOut: Unlike the [=OhgerCalibur=]-using Rangers', his Ranger name does not contain the word "Ohger".
* PoisonousPerson: Uses poison as part of his fighting style befitting of a spider; appropriately, his weapons feature [[TechnicolorToxin purple as a dominant color]].
* PoisonedWeapons: True to its name, the Venomix Shooter fires poison energy blasts; it can also launch poison-enhanced spiderwebs to entrap enemies.
* {{Pun}}:
** The activation phrases for his Venomix Shooter are "Dock/More Dock In", which are plays on the Japanese word for poison, ''doku'' (毒) and the phrase ''modoku'' (猛毒, "deadly poison"), respectively.
** The announcement for the SmokeOut function is "Kumo", a play on "spider" (蜘蛛) and "cloud" (雲).
* PunnyName:
** "Kumonos" is a play on the Japanese phrase ''kumo no su'' (蜘蛛の巣), which means "spider's web".
** "Kumonoslayer" can alternatively be read as ''kumo no sureiyā'' ("spider slayer").
* PurpleIsPowerful: His battle aura is purple, and he is more powerful than the main five.
* RepetitiveName: In a similar fashion to how ''King-Ohger'' can be translated as "King-King", ''Spider Kumonos'' can be translated as "Spider Spider's Web".
* SwordAndGun: Like the main quintet, he has both ranged and melee options. The ''Venomix Shooter'' is a cross between a [[{{Irony}} pesticide gun]] and paint sprayer, while his primary weapon is his 'Kumonoslayer'' blade.

!The Legendary Heroes
The first iteration of the Ohsama Sentai, they were chosen by King-Ohger to defend Tikyū from the Bug Naraku. After the Bug Naraku were defeated, five of them eventually went on to become the kings of the five kingdoms, while the sixth was erased from history.

[[folder:General Tropes]]

* AmbiguouslyEvil: They were heroes, but exactly ''how'' heroic they were has been thrown into question by a few revelations. Given the Shugods [[GodIsGood general behavior]], they were likely heroic at least when they were ''chosen'', but they also exiled and [[UnPerson erased their sixth member from history]] for unknown reasons. The Bug Naraku also turned out to not be as evil as the legend presented them as, even if they were the aggressors. While not confirmed to be their doing, ''something'' happened that caused the Greater Shugods to abandon humanity.
* FounderOfTheKingdom: Five of them -- along with the King Shugods -- created the five kingdoms. The sixth hero would've had his own kingdom as well, had he not been banished.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: They were TheChosenMany who defeated the Bug Naraku 2,000 years ago before individually founding and ruling the five kingdoms that make up modern-day Tikyū.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: The prophecy implies that while they did not get along, they were willing to set aside their differences in order to protect Tikyū.

The SixthRanger of the original Ohsama Sentai and Jeramie's father, who was driven into exile for falling in love with a Bug Naraku.
----
* ZeroPercentApprovalRating: Was cast out of the original Ohsama Sentai because of his love affair with a Bug Naraku member. [[spoiler:However in #46, Racles presents the idea that Reinoil may have let him escape along with Nephila in order to protect the King's Proof from falling into the wrong hands, using the love affair as an convenient excuse.]]
* ForbiddenLove: Fell in love with the Bug Naraku Nephila.
* TheGhost: Downplayed. Despite his importance to Jeramie's backstory, he isn't seen outside of an animated silhouette in #12.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: Jeramie identifies him as one of the refugees that fled Earth after an internal conflict amongst humanity to establish a new breed of humanity on Tikyū over 2,000 years ago, due to the fact that he was the artist behind the historical mural found on Earth that depicts an ancient generation of ''Kyoryugers'' which connects to the mural depicting King-Ohger in Tikyū.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: While his face is never shown, it's all too evident where Jeramie got his looks from.
* UnPerson: Every hint of his existence and role in the first human/Bug Naraku conflict is erased from historical records by the order of the five kingdoms' founding rulers.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: His relationship with the original Ohsama Sentai.
