8.8 now a disambiguation. Narm fails to explain why unintentionally funny.

* EightPointEight: Gamespot gave ''War for Cybertron'' a 6.5 out of 10 -- significantly lower than other review sites, which typically awarded scores in the 7-9 out of 10 range.

Tons of enemies show up, so it's easy for Ratchet to get torn up and require you (even though he'll only call out for Optimus's help when he gets knocked down, you'll still have to revive him if you're playing as Ironhide or Warpath because the AIs only focus on fighting) to go over and revive him, during which you can get pretty badly damaged yourself.

* BrokenBase: The game itself is well-liked. The game's place in continuity is... hoo boy. ''War for Cybertron'' is very unapologetically "G1 Fanservice - The Game", and High Moon consistently acknowledged throughout its development that they saw it as a G1 game. Hasbro, on the other hand, insists that the game takes place in the Aligned continuity and is a prequel to ''WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime.'' Except given the above, ''WFC'' and ''Prime'' really don't fit together except in BroadStrokes, and their only real tie is that both involve Dark Energon heavily (which really isn't seen as particularly important, given that it's basically just an interchangeable MacGuffin). Their fanbases don't really overlap either, for that matter. Then there's the ''Literature/TransformersExodus'' novel, which tries to tie them together [[ContinuitySnarl but actually meshes with neither.]] This leads to a number of factions: fans who wish the High Moon games would just get declared to be the G1 games they were meant to be, fans who wish the High Moon games had taken more care to fit in with the ''Prime'' cartoon and vice versa, fans who see the entire Aligned continuity experiment as an unneeded mess, and fans who stick by Hasbro's word, treat the "WFC is G1" crowd as the usual suspects, and insist on trying to tie it all together.

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: Wheeljack saying “He’s a pain in the ass” in the first episode. Not only is this a Y-7 show, but there is never another swear like that for the rest of the season. All the other swears are replaced with their robot equivalent, so this comes across as out of place.
* EnsembleDarkHorse: Despite his entry in TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter below Impactor has won himself a few fans.
* ItsTheSameNowItSucks: While ''Transformers'' is far from the most innovative franchise many of the show's major plot beats, such as [[Film/{{Transformers}} Megatron seeking the Allspark]] [[WesternAnimation/TransformersCyberverse to create a Decepticon army]], [[WesternAnimation/TheTransformers Jetfire starting out with the Decepticons before joining the Autobots]], [[VideoGame/TransformersFallOfCybertron and the Autobots rushing to fuel and launch the Ark before the Decepticons can wipe them out]], have been done in previous entries in the series without this one putting many twists or changes onto them.
* LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt: [[spoiler: Was anyone surprised that the Ark wasn't destroyed?]]
* MoralEventHorizon: Megatron may have sympathetic motives, but he shows us that he's still just as ruthless as any other version of the character when he [[spoiler:kills Ultra Magnus, his former friend]] after seeming to [[EvenEvilHasStandards have standards]] that prevented him from doing so.

** Ultra Magnus' cloak, which apparently conceals his identity [[PaperThinDisguise despite]] not concealing his ShouldersOfDoom in the slightest.

** Jetfire. In most continuities, he's a GentleGiant of a scientist who merely wants to help end the war quickly. Here, he does want an end to the war... but he is not only ''Air Commander'' of the Seekers, but he's a cold, ruthless and dutiful enforcer of Megatron's will and is a fully dedicated warrior able to kill at a moment's notice given adequate reason. The only point where he draws a line is when he finds out his leader is completely fine with a literal genocide.
** While Mirage is pretending to be a Decepticon, Skytread and Spinister decide to show him all the Autobots they've killed so far. Cue a shot of a bunch of dead corpses dismembered and impaled on spikes all over a street.
** The Sparkless, the newest Transformers equivalent of zombies, which quickly overrun the Autobots and [[spoiler:tear apart Moonracer]].
* SoOkayItsAverage: Response to the show has been generally positive but most feel it falls under this category.
* SurprisinglyImprovedSequel: More like Surprisingly Improved Follow-up but response to War for Cybertron Siege has generally been more positive than the last Generations based toyline cartoon Prime Wars.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Moonracer makes her first animated appearance since the original cartoon by showing up late in the series with little to do [[spoiler:before she is killed by zombies]].
** Impactor makes his first appearance outside of comic books where he's a Decepticon goon [[spoiler: who gets rescued by Ratchet, reluctantly works for him to fix the space bridge for the Autobots, and is killed in the final episode after barely getting any screentime]]. Even though he's one of the few characters in the show to get an arc it felt rushed due to his lack of screentime, redundant compared to Jetfire's more fleshed out HeelFaceTurn, abrupt as most of the other Decepticons are unrepentant psychopaths, and disappointing compared to IDW Impactor's more gradual and fleshed out character development in ComicBook/TheTransformersLastStandOfTheWreckers even though that Impactor was always an Autobot! It doesn't that help that his usual role as the founder and original leader of the fan-favorite Wreckers is completely excised.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: A lot of the series backstory, such as the Decepticons rising up against Cybertronian classism and Prime, Megatron, and Magnus being pupils of Alpha Trion [[spoiler:before Megatron kills him]], sound like they would have made for a more unique story than the one in show. It doesn't help that these events that are only vaguely alluded to are what motivate most of the characters.
** [[spoiler:The Alpha Trion protocols being passed to Bumblebee when Ultra Magnus dies, giving him all the wisdom of Alpha Trion, could have made for an interesting arc with him coming to terms with the knowledge thrust upon him and fleshing out his dynamic with Optimus as someone who had the same thing happen with the matrix. Instead they're a plot device for Bumblebee to join the Autobots and locate the All Spark, after which they're swiftly deleted by a virus created by Shockwave]]
* WhatAnIdiot: Despite Megatron being a genocidal maniac who constantly makes speeches to the Decepticons portraying the Autobots as merciless criminals, encouraging his followers to wipe them out, and [[spoiler: murdering Alpha Trion, his, Prime's and Magnus' mentor]], Ultra Magnus thinks he can reason with Megatron like millions of years of civil war haven't happened.
