It’s a companion to video essayist and friend of Todd’s [[WebVideo/HBomberGuy HBomberguy’s]] video on James and plagiarism. Fittingly, for a guy who talks about one hit wonders as much as he does, [[BlackSheepHit it is one of his most successful video of all time]].

The video in question is only his 2nd most viewed video of all time so it seems incorrect to label it his most successful video of all time and especially the qualifier "by far" seems very off. Idk the stats but maybe like the speed of its views make it his "most successful" but if it is based on the speed of views and success then there is almost certainly a better way to word it than how it was worded before.

* FailedASpotCheck: When tearing apart ''7 Years'' by Lukas Graham for his #1 spot on his Worst Hit Songs of 2016, Todd brings attention to Lukas' other hit ''You're Not There'', where he sings about his late father not being around to see what kind of man he became. Upon hearing the lyrics "You're not there, to share in my success" Todd immediately dismisses the song as rubbish because he thinks he's just complaining about how there's one less person to praise and worship him. What Todd didn't mention, however, was the fact that the full line in that song was actually "You're not there, to share in my success ''and mistakes,''" [[HarsherInHindsight implying that he wishes his Father was still around for the highs AND lows of his career]].

* BrokenBase: Given how about 95% of his fans hated it, putting "Closer" by The Chainsmokers at #1 on his "Best of 2016" list was possibly his most controversial decision yet. Half of his fans admitted that they hated the song, but said that it was Todd's list and they had no right to complain or tell Todd what his own opinion was. The other half got very angry, stating that Todd must have been out of his mind to put it at #1. Some went so far as to stop the video right after the honorable mentions so they could pretend his #2 pick ("24K Magic" by Bruno Mars) was his #1 pick. This gets a callback in his 2017 best of list, where he states he was ''tempted'' to put Chainsmokers on number one again out of spite. ("Paris" ended up being number two, second to "Green Light" by Lorde.) The dishonorable mentions in his 2022 list also mentions Music/MachineGunKelly as "up there with The Chainsmokers as guys I stuck my neck out for and rewarded it by making bad music even I couldn't defend", though immediately follows it up with "I was still right, for the record."
