* A WhatCouldHaveBeen variation: Like in the fanfic, Lunamaria was originally supposed to fly the Destiny Impulse Gundam in the movie but Fukuda decided against it because he didn't want to outshine the [[spoiler: Destiny Gundam Spec II]]
* HilariousInHindsight: There are some now that the actual movie is out.
** The jokes about Rau Le Creuset's ghost being the main villain and Kira groaning on how Rau is recycled yet again is outright hilarious with Fukuda's next work ''Anime/CrossAnge'', where Embryo being a Rau Clone AND Tusk being a Kira clone was the same reaction fans had with accusing Fukuda of recycling characters. And to top it off, Orphee is an Embryo Clone, making this even more hilarious.

** Shinn celebrating Kira and Athrun's death because he finally gets to be the main character is hilarious because in ''Freedom'', Shinn, although not the main protagonist, pulls a Kira in the movie in that he basically steals the spotlight from Kira and [[spoiler: Kira's GodModeSue status is almost averted because Kira nearly dies twice in the film.]]

* HarsherInHindsight: The Dom trio getting electrocuted is a lot harsher in hindsight since in [[spoiler:Gundam Seed Freedom, Mars and Herbert are the only characters from the previous series who die.]]

** A running joke is that Lacus has [[ShockAndAwe lightning powers.]] Cue the ending of [[spoiler: ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSeedFreedom'', where Lacus's proud defender gives the Strike Freedom lightning powers that disables an entire fleet.]]

** Athrun Zala's joke that everyone who is an anime character knows how to use a sword is hilarious when [[spoiler: Kira kills Orphee using a katana in Freedom.]]

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Rife with this. Lacus is probably the most prominent example, and the most consistent too.

* NeverLiveItDown: Luna's poor aiming skill [[spoiler: Up until her [=CMoA=]]] is taken to the logical extreme by having her miss a large stationary target. She [[LampshadeHanging points out]] how ridiculous this is.

* HilariousInHindsight: The jokes about Rau Le Creuset's ghost being the main villain yet again and Kira groaning on how Rau is always responsible for everything is outright hilarious with Fukuda's next work ''Anime/CrossAnge'', where not only is there Embryo being a Rau Clone, but also Tusk being a Kira clone.

* CrowningMomentOfFunny: Oh, so very, very much the case. It doesn't matter when, it just ''is.''.

* GodModeSue: Kira gets to the point in this that he doesn't really need to put any effort into fighting. Counter-balanced by him being a total loser outside of the Strike Freedom, accomplishing such feats as shooting himself in the foot.
