Now fandom trends, not specific fanworks. And Scrappy must be unintentional.

* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: One of the things this fanfic does well is rescues a lot of characters from the Scrappy pile, and turns them into sympathetic characters, Anthony being the biggest one. Even Therese can technically count, cause EnsembleDarkhorse or not, she ''was'' written in the comic strip as TheScrappy.
* RonTheDeathEater:
** This story could just as easily be called "Why Elly Patterson is the Devil: A Manifesto". Every possible plot element that can be used to show her in a bad light is turned towards that purpose. The story doesn't give her any slack at all, even condemning her for things other characters are allowed to get away with (her trying to trick a man into marriage via TheBabyTrap? Unforgivable; Elizabeth [[spoiler:getting pregnant via ''adultery'' and trying to pass it off as her husband's]]? The story's on her side). It stops just short of blaming her for ''her own murder'', but only just. Her detailed backstory essentially sums up her life as both a complete waste and herself as a phony in everything she did.
** Not that John gets it much better: he’s seen as a sexist dolt and an abuser.

* WhatAnIdiot: Gavin spoke out against the investigation into whether building Millborough on a radiation site had an effect on health. Perhaps he should have remembered that birth defects were one of the symptoms, and that one of his more significant clients is a neonatal clinic.

Misuse. Does not mention audience avoiding work.

* EndingAversion: Some readers disliked the ending where [[spoiler: Mike and Dee divorce and Elizabeth and Anthony stay together, especially since the story was hinting that the opposite would happen and Elizabeth and Anthony are staying more out of obligation to the kids than love, essentially becoming Elly and John.]]

** John is strangely unbothered by Elly’s death, only caring about the fact that she can’t cook his favorite unhealthy foods anymore. It’s rather telling that Frank Day, who hadn’t spoken to Elly in ''decades'' has a more appropriate reaction to her death! But at the funeral itself, it becomes clear why: [[spoiler: he’s cheating on her with Kortney.]]
