** "Stop Will in the Name of Love" has Ashley's date getting frisky with her while playing mini-golf. While Ashley is consenting, Will ends up being UnintentionallySympathetic for not wanting his 14-year-old sister to get sexual with someone, especially when he caused Carlton emotional pain in a previous episode by telling him to rush in. Ashley storms off and walks the Bel Air streets alone at night, and when Phil and Vivian run into her, they chastise Will for supposedly being irresponsible without letting him explain Ashley stormed off and he was trying to stop her even though he had walked in seconds later. Ashley's irresponsible actions are glossed over when she uses the open mic night to demand respect from her family and that she should be trusted to make her own decisions, even though the way she acted proves the contrary.

** "Not With My Cousin You Don't" has Ashley's [[CompressedVice long-term boyfriend]] want to have sex with her when she's at the more understandable age of 16. She acts far more responsibly as she thinks long and hard and even receives [[SmartBall uncharacteristically intelligent advice]] from Hilary. Her grievance towards Will is far more valid: that he was intruding on her personal life using information he had heard while testing an intercom system. The ending is far more nuanced, with Ashley pointing out that every time sex has been brought up, he's tried to shield her, and she's getting to the age where he can't rely on that anymore. Will is still portrayed as being right for not wanting Ashley to go through with it, as she recognizes she was not ready even though her boyfriend was completely understanding, and Ashley concedes that Will wouldn't have done what he did if he didn't care about her.

They both try to dismantle Carlton's naivete about the situation -- Will with more BrutalHonesty and Uncle Phil with BreakingBadNewsGently. No one will stop you for driving too slow if you're white, and a map will not help you. ** The show was surprisingly sympathetic to men with sexual dysfunction issues, an issue that is still stigmatized to this day. When Uncle Lester was having performance issues, Aunt Helen treated it more as a sign he was having an affair, along with spending a suspiciously long time at another woman's house. When he reveals he's seeing a psychiatrist for impotence due to a lack of confidence, both Aunt Helen and Will are sympathetic. In another episode, Will implies he's having performance issues, and Uncle Phil is sympathetic towards the issue and implies it's happened to him. The humor comes from the fact that that's not what Will was talking about, and when he elaborates on the misunderstanding, Uncle Phil doesn't once try to backtrack on his confession.

While the former situation can be chalked up to a sheltered upbringing,[[note]]Kids raised in nicer neighborhoods are taught from kindergarten that police officers are by default their friends and there to help, while the truth is it may depend on the person and the situation, even if you have done nothing wrong[[/note]] the latter situation is inexcusable for someone claiming to be pro-law.

*** Carlton isn't blameless either; even if he was concerned about the zit on his head and didn't know that the bottle had amphetamines, he still should have known through common sense that downing a bottle of vitamins is a bad idea.
