** There's a star system at the end of every review that shows what the script writer really thought of the movie that was intended to show that they don't hate every movie they mock. It still doesn't stop this reaction (though it's usually on Website/{{Cracked}} which doesn't show the rating).
** It doesn't help that the scripts for movies they like and movies they don't tend to take on much the same level of negativity.

** Played straight and inverted at the same time with the [[https://web.archive.org/web/20160315062819/http://www.the-editing-room.com/psycho.html now deleted]] review of the ''Film/{{Psycho}}'' remake, where Rod not-so-subtly hints that he considers to be superior to the Creator/AlfredHitchcock original.

* AcceptableTargets: Creator/JanuaryJones. Not only does nearly every script featuring her address her lack of expressions, but bland actors in other movies will often be compared with her.

* EsotericHappyEnding: While Pet Semetary’s new ending is [[spoiler:much better than the original’s with Gage escaping, getting adopted, winning the Super Bowl and becoming President, his family are still zombies and he will never see them again.

** Before a security guard in ''Film/EverythingEverywhereAllAtOnce'' {{Ass Shove}}s a buttplug-shaped trophy into himself, he remarks, "Hope this movie didn't have any Oscar aspirations." It went on to receive 11 nominations, more than any other movie of the year, including Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay.

** The alternate title for ''Film/Venom2018'' is "Box Office Poison" and one line is "Make it go viral and maybe we can recoup our losses from all the people seeing this movie ironically." There are quite a few comments noting the author managed to be both wrong in it being "box office poison" (the movie's opening weekend alone was $389 million worldwide) and right in how it managed to be financially successful (while reviews seem to be pretty mixed, many people appear to have gone to watch it ironically due to word-of-mouth about it being a GuiltyPleasure).

** On August 4, 2013, Creator/PeterCapaldi was revealed as [[TheNthDoctor the new]] [[Series/DoctorWho Doctor.]] In the script for ''Film/WorldWarZ'', published July 11, 2013:

** The ''Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxy'' Abridged Script has Creator/ChrisPratt figure out Creator/MichaelRooker as his father, and stubbornly disregard any denials of obvious hints. ''Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol2'' ended up revealing someone else as Star-Lord's dad. The ''Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol2'' script has "[[Creator/DaveBautista Dave Bluetista]]" start to recall Pratt's first guess, only for Pratt to cut him off by [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial denying that he ever believed it.]][[note]]Ironically, in the actual ''Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2'', ''Drax'' says he believed Yondu was Star-Lord's father, then Star-Lord calls it an unbelievable guess.[[/note]]

** ''Film/AntManAndTheWasp'' has Abby Ryder Fortson tell Creator/PaulRudd that she wants Creator/EvangelineLilly to become her new mother. During the UsefulNotes/COVID19Pandemic, Lilly was revealed to be anti-lockdown by continuing to send her children to gymnastics camp and later anti-vaccine mandate by bragging about attending anti-vaccine mandate protests, provoking the public to question whether an actress who values "freedom" over safety would really make a good mother.

* CriticalResearchFailure:
** The ''Film/AmericanPie2'' script states that Thomas Ian Nichols (Kevin) sits alone and "gazes thoughtfully into the sunset, because he has NO ALTERNATIVE" at the film's climax, due to being the only character who doesn't end up getting laid. What actually happened in the movie was that Kevin spent that part of the movie hanging out with his ex-girlfriend Vicki platonically, making his ending nowhere near as depressing as the abridged script implied.
** The script for ''Film/JusticeLeague2017'' points out how if Hippolyta was strong enough to fire an arrow that could travel over the sea then she should have been able to kill Steppenwolf by aiming for his face. The film shows her trying to do just that. [[NoSell He caught the arrow.]]
*** Then in ''Film/ZackSnydersJusticeLeague'', one line mistakes the King of Atlantis for Aquaman's dad. Not only did Aquaman's own movie show that his dad is a regular guy, but the Snyder Cut had pretty much every Atlantean who interacted with Aquaman bring up his mixed heritage, specifically pointing out that he's Atlantean on his mother's side.
** The script for ''Film/AvengersInfinityWar'' misunderstands a few details from ''Film/ThorRagnarok''. Bruce Banner mentions how he can suddenly remember things from when he was the Hulk, when in ''Ragnarok'' it wasn't that he couldn't remember, but that he was disconnected. Also there's the implication that Thor getting Storm-Breaker contradicts his loss of Mjolnir as character growth, when it was pointed out by Odin that Mjonir only focused his natural powers while Storm-Breaker has even greater powers of its own.
** The redone script for ''Film/TheMummy1999'' has Imhotep saying "I've come up with a plan. You and I kill the pharaoh, then you kill yourself, and then I'll steal your body and resurrect you a little later." This was ''not'' planned in advance, with the murder only happening because Imhotep's affair with the pharaoh's mistress was discovered.

** The ''Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxy'' Abridged Script has Creator/ChrisPratt figure out Creator/MichaelRooker as his father, and stubbornly disregard any denials of obvious hints. Creator/StanLee passed away little over two weeks later, making this comment sound especially morbid. Not only that, but Lee ended up having a posthumous cameo in its sequel, ''Film/VenomLetThereBeCarnage'' (as a cover image on a magazine).
