* AcceptablePoliticalTargets:
** The US military is constantly shown throughout Symphogear to either be incompetent at best or actively corrupt at worst, and often just as antagonistic as any seasons' BigBad -- when they're not outright in cahoots with them. Just about every season has at least one moment where the US military is shown in its absolute worst light. This changes in the final season where the US consistently, and with very little hesitation, assists the heroes.
** In the final season, the big and actively corrupt element in cahoots with the antagonists turns out to be a Japanese ultranationalist. The same Japanese ultranationalist war-hawk who had been shown to be a self-important HateSink whose blunders cause our heroes to bend over backward trying to fix the ensuing political fallout and so obsessed with his racial purity that he raped his own son's wife to get the heir that he wants.

** For the ''XDU'' fans, Parallel Hibiki thanks to her BreakoutCharacter status. "Lost Song" had her as the main character, "Shiden Matoishi Kyohei" had her become involved with Sharon's story (even though she was unrelated previously), and "Ashita no Hikari" was a particularly infamous case, as the event was promoted with Hibiki and Miku as the main focus (along with the new character Asuka)... only for Parallel Hibiki to suddenly show up in the story, taking Miku's place as one of the main stars. It was this event that finally let it set in. While Parallel Hibiki in her initial debut event was considered good, her post-development self is the major contention. Is she an interesting new take on the main character we're familiar with, being a good choice of a major character in ''XDU's'' story, or a boring character that we've [[SpotlightStealingSquad spent way too much time on]] when we could see more development from the rest of the cast?

* AuthorsSavingThrow:
** Almost all of ''AXZ'' can be seen as one for ''GX'': the former makes a concerted effort to tie the latter's events back to those of the first two seasons and the show's previously-established GreaterScopeVillain, something ''GX'' did little to do on its own. The new alchemists are played much more sympathetically and are much more fallible, while the alchemist in ''GX'' was often accused of InvincibleVillain status. Its ending even has the contentious SuperMode that ''GX'' introduced be destroyed in the process of defeating the season's villain.
** ''XV'' continues the trend of making up for ''GX'', as episode 3 establishes that the relationship between Hibiki's parents wasn't mended overnight despite what the last shot of ''GX'' seemed to claim, while episode 7 is largely dedicated to [[RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap rescuing GX's villains from the scrappy heap]]. Ep 9 even manages to make Hibiki's Father redeemable, to the suprise of many.

Fans being annoyed by certain characters actions or how they're used in the plot doesn't equal hatred of the characters. Hibiki, Maria, and Kirika are all very well liked characters on the whole.

* TheScrappy: It's rather ironic that those who owned this status somehow get redeemed as seen above. But, to list their original faults...
** Ryoko got a lot of hate during the first season even before she's revealed to be Finé largely for being a one-dimensional over-the-top GeniusDitz scientist and it doesn't help that she's a PsychoLesbian as indicated by her room filled with many photos of Hibiki.
** And for season two, Maria has become one of these. She started the season with a lot of love in part due to fantastic songs and being voiced by Yoko Hikasa. BadassDecay and failing to get anything done plot-wise gained her a great deal of hate.
** Quite a few people were annoyed by Kirika's actions in ''G'', thanks to the subplot about her becoming Finé, which was ripe with {{Wangst}} and bad decisions. And it turned out that Shirabe was Finé all along, which made the clumsy writing completely pointless.
** Hibiki's father, who abandoned his family after the concert disaster in Season 1, makes his first in-person appearance in the show in GX. In his first shared scene with Hibiki, he not only refuses to apologize, but [[EntitledBastard asks for her help in trying to get him back with Hibiki's mother]], and at the end of the conversation [[RefugeInAudacity leaves Hibiki with the lunch bill]]. He comes off as so loathsome and obnoxiously selfish that his helpful contributions in the final battle of the season were seen as too little, too late, and Hibiki's decision to forgive him in the end very much comes off as unearned. That said, [[RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap his appearance later in the series is considered okay]].

"Idiot Plot" is now Flame Bait.

* IdiotPlot: The plot to ''Symphogear G'' episodes 5, 6, 7, and 8 is one giant wall of stupid, where two top-secret agencies -- Division 2 and [=FIS=] -- have to make appallingly bad command decisions for the sake of plot.
** After Kirika and Shirabe taunt the Symphogear wielders into a duel, the wielders just let them casually stroll away. At no point do the wielders or Division 2 consider trailing these two incompetent teenagers who don't seem to have any sort of spy training back to their base. No drones, no spy satellites, no unmarked sedans, no ninja skills from Ogawa, not even the wielders hopping onto a rooftop to just ''watch'' them leisurely walk through the city. The wielders just blithely accept there's going to be a duel, and that the villains aren't going to pull the rug out from under them. Needless to say, when it comes time for said duel, their lack of (military) intelligence allows Dr. Ver to pull the rug out from under them.
** At the aforementioned duel, when Hibiki flies into rage mode, both Chris and Tsubasa physically restrain her to keep her from chasing the fleeing Dr. Ver. At that moment, Dr. Ver is holding the Staff of Solomon, the only thing in the world that can summon infinite hordes of evil monsters that turn people into dust with a touch and the very thing they've been trying to secure all season. Because they let him get away, Ver uses it to murder three sedans full of Division 2 officers at the episode's end.
** After Dr. Ver escapes, Tsubasa mentions Division 2 Intelligence is searching for him. We then cut to the man in question, who is in ''exactly'' the same place he was last night. Up until now, Division 2 have always sent dozens of officers and soldiers to secure a site as soon as possible, yet apparently they didn't think to lock down the last place the man they're looking for was seen, nor did they think to send in forensics teams to look for evidence, such as the giant Nephilim heart Hibiki casually tossed aside.
** Even though Genjuuro suspects Hibiki's fusion with Gungnir is about to kill her, and that she's turning into a living nuclear reactor that produces such incredible heat she makes things around her ''burst into flames'', he doesn't tell her about it. He just has Tsubasa play some simplistic mind games to sideline her, apparently in the hopes she won't need to use Gungnir to defend herself. Which, as it turns out, is exactly what Hibiki needs to do in episode 7.
** Maria and Nastassja have a conversation in an open field where Nastassja tells Maria point-blank she's only pretending to be a reincarnation of Fine -- [[AsYouKnow something Maria already knows]] -- and they ''know'' the only other person around is the mentally-unhinged doctor they've been catfishing with the whole Maria-is-Fine act. Sure enough, he's listening to them from a very obvious hiding spot ten feet away.
** Nastassja tells Maria she doesn't need to pretend to be Fine anymore -- which they did specifically to fool Dr. Ver -- but at this point she has no way of knowing the American government will honor her deal, and immediately ''after'' that conversation they rely on Doctor Ver for his medical knowledge again, so it makes no sense for her to drop the act ''now'' of all times. It's like Kaneko realized at the last minute that he forgot to set up the ending plot twist with Kirika and Shirabe, so he wrote a conversation that makes no logical sense just to convey the information to the audience.
** When the brilliant scientist Nastassja makes her deal with the Americans, she doesn't seem to consider A) how the wildcard Dr. Ver might react, and B) the American government might not honor the deal. The ''smart'' thing to do would've been for Maria to wield the Staff of Solomon as insurance to make sure the Americans don't try anything. But instead they just let Dr. Ver do whatever with the Staff, and after Nastassja is shocked the American agents who've been trying to assassinate them all season ''still'' want to assassinate them, she's only saved because the crazy person who loves melting people with Noise decided to spy on them, completely on his own initiative.

Since it's shonen, What Do You Mean Its For Kids better applies.

* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: Symphogear is classified under Shonen, and is quite a colorful and positive series with a cheerful protagonist. There are a bit of risque fanservice moments, but it's nothing too bad. And then you get to [[NightmareFace scenes]] like Tsubasa or Serena using their Swan Songs. But it doesn't stop there. Chris and the F.I.S.'s [[DarkAndTroubledPast backstories]] are quite dark (Chris being orphaned, trafficked around as a slave, with implications of ''rape'', while Maria came from a war-torn country before joining Shirabe and Kirika and being experimented on at young ages), and then Tsubasa reveals her family lineage, causing quite a few fans to share Maria's disgust. Not to mention how as the animation improved, so did quite a few of the gore scenes, being far more detailed and bloody to the point they're a far cry from Hibiki's injury back in Season 1.

Foe Yay has been cut

* FoeYay:
** Maria and Tsubasa in Season 2. Not only is Maria's Symphogear identical to Kanade's, their duet in the first episode is awfully suggestive, with furtive glances and both performers [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything stroking their long, phallic microphones]]. Once Maria is revealed as a villain, she and Tsubasa directly oppose one another, with their fights being some of the most intense.
** The opening of ''G'' has two silhouettes at the beginning, with one of them trying to catch the hand of the other. The silhouettes are Hibiki and Finé.

Added DiffLines:

* FanNickname: Pretty much everyone, except Hibiki (who is usually referred to by her InSeriesNickname of "Bikki"):
** Due to his sheer badassery and [[ShoutOut that one costume]] he used in the training montage end, Genjuro is affectionally called [[StreetFighter Akuma]].
*** In Japan, fans refer to him as "OTONA" which means "adult". Yes, it's all written in capital Latin letters.
** Tsubasa is a sword. Or [[Anime/MobileSuitGundam00 Setsuna]]. Back in season 1 and G she was also called Sakimori ("sentinel").
** Chris's song ''Makyu Ichaival'' has her repeatedly singing "zenbu", so fans have often taken to referring to her as Zenbu.
*** On a side note, some fans also combined this Zenbu with boobs becoming "Zenboobs." The reason was that her Symphogear shows her ample boobs off as well as visibly the biggest bust (although canonically Maria has larger bust (96 vs 90), but downplayed due to height differences).
** Since she has blonde hair and her Symphogear outfit resembles that of a witch, Kirika is known by some fans as [[Franchise/YuGiOh Dark Magician Girl]] (or DMG for short). She's also known as DESS, due to her VerbalTic.
** Both Shirabe's relatively serious nature and WeaponOfChoice have earned her the nickname Buzzkill. Certain ImageBoards also call her Jii~, after a well-known gif of her staring at the camera.
** Because they're almost always seen together, some fans have taken to referring to both Kirika and Shirabe as [=DMJii=], a combined pun on their individual nicknames listed above.
** After Maria spent most of G out of the action due to angst, she picked up the Detractor Nickname of Useless or Useless Tentacle Woman (the latter due to her hair looking like tentacles).
** Nastassja, due to her name being difficult to spell/pronounce, is usually just called Mom or Ma'am as she's called in-series, but she's also called Wheels sometimes.
** Ver is QUALITY Doctor, for [[OffModel obvious reasons]].
*** He is also nicknamed Dr. Sugita, in reference to [[Creator/TomokazuSugita his voice actor]]
** Before GX even started airing, Carol had already been nicknamed [[Franchise/TouhouProject ZUN girl]] or simply "the [[Franchise/TouhouProject Touhou]]", for her frilly outfit and large hat. Following her appearance in ''XV'' and the surge in popularity she subsequently received, she is now hailed as the season's "MVP" not unlike [[Franchise/DragonBall Android 17]], another character who returned after a long absence to much acclaim.
** Fans on the wiki gave the nickname "Airgetlam" for Serena's [[spoiler: and later Maria's]] gear. This is based largely on a piece of information on an official source naming the gear 'The Silver Gear'. The name being a nod to VideoGame/WildArms2 is also speculated. Confirmed by [[spoiler:Maria's activation song at the end of G]].
** Hibiki's father, since being officially introduced, has generally come to be known as Top Dad (mainly due to being an awful dad and for being introduced as a DirtyCoward and a loser). [[spoiler:given, as bad as he is, he's the ''least'' horrible father of any of the weilders, the nickname was less ironic by the end of XV]].
** Symphogay for the series itself in some circles, due to the large amount of [[LesYay ship tease]] and close relationships between the girls, with at least two pairs hinted as being more or less "official" (read: [[ShipTease heavily teased]]). Apparently, even the seiyuu of the characters have commented on it.
** The alternate Hibiki in ''XDU'' event "A Light That Pierces the Clouds," is called "[=EdgeBikki=]" because of how much she acts like an edgy AntiHero. Japanese fans tend to call her "Gure Hibiki", as a pun on her usual grey hoodie and a japanese word that means roughly "to become a delinquent".
** As of now, Hibiki now officially has her own fan nickname outside of "Bikki": Hamster.

** After Kirika and Shirabe taunt the wielders into a duel, the wielders just let them go. Kirika and Shirabe are two incompetent teenagers who don't seem to have any sort of spy training, yet neither the wielders nor Division 2 attempt to trail them back to their base. No drones, no spy satellites, no unmarked sedans. Not even the wielders hopping onto a rooftop and just ''watching'' them walk. They just blithely hope the villains won't pull any dirty tricks at the duel. And sure enough, when the wielders ''do'' head there, their lack of (military) intelligence turns out very badly for Hibiki.
** At the aforementioned duel, when Hibiki flies into rage mode, both Chris and Tsubasa physically restrain her to keep her from chasing the fleeing Dr. Ver. Dr. Ver, the man who is holding the Staff of Solomon, the only thing capable of summoning infinite hordes of evil monsters that turn people into dust with a touch.
** The next morning, Tsubasa mentions Division 2 Intelligence is searching for the lost doctor. We then cut to the man in question ... who is in ''exactly'' the same place he was last night, the Kadingir site. Apparently, Division 2 didn't think to start looking in the last place he was seen, set up a cordon to contain the area, send in forensics teams to look for clues like the giant Nephilim heart Hibiki casually tossed aside, etc.

** When the brilliant scientist Nastassja makes her deal with the Americans, she doesn't seem to consider the possibility that A) the wildcard Dr. Ver might not react well, and B) the American government might not honor the deal. The ''smart'' thing to do would've been for Maria to wield the Staff of Solomon as insurance to make sure the Americans don't try anything. But instead they just let Dr. Ver do whatever with the Staff, and after Nastassja is shocked the American agents who've been trying to assassinate them all season ''still'' want to assassinate them, she's only saved because the crazy person who loves melting people with Noise decided to spy on them completely on his own initiative.
