A lot of features that were missed in the prior installment were added for this one like a level map, progress towards level objectives preserved upon death, and a far better difficulty curve. Further, unlike the first game, getting every firefly isn't mandatory for finishing the game, meaning the player is free to skip some of the more frustrating level objectives if desired.
