* SeasonalRot: Some have viewed Season 4 as this, with the KafkaComedy being cranked UpToEleven to the point that the antics Sonic gets into feel more depressing than they are funny. ** Season 6 is a more downplayed example. While still having fans, many others felt like the season's storyline felt too aimless, suprisingly convoluted, and dragged on for quite a bit. Thankfully this season has since been [[VindicatedByHistory vindicated after the season compilation was released]], letting the whole story flow much better.

* UnpopularPopularCharacter: Sonic rightfully incurs quite a bit of hate throughout the series for being an [[{{Jerkass}} enormous douchebag]] with [[VillainProtagonist seemingly no moral compass]]. The shows' fans are far more receptive to him.

Most, if not all of which were featured in said movie.

** One of the alternate timelines Sonic ends up creating when messing with the Epoch is one where his series has completely fallen into obscurity while VideoGame/CrashBandicoot retained his insane popularity from the late 1990s into the present day and was considered one of the top gaming icons. This episode was released when Crash's series was at its lowest point and was in very real danger of becoming completely forgotten. Flash forward a couple years and Crash Bandicoot had an extremely successful revival which rocketed the series back to the top while Sonic's series was once again on a downward spiral.

* JerksAreWorseThanVillains: The series features Mario as a mob boss, Kirby as an AxCrazy psychopath that loves murder, and Sonic as a VillainProtagonist. But Tails is the one who gets the most hate from fans for his actions in Season 4: throwing drinks at people's faces, pissing on Sonic, and just acting like a douchebag. Even Sonic, who tried to [[spoiler:blow up a movie theater with dozens of people inside just to kill Tails]] in the ''same season'', isn't hated as much.

* ContinuityLockout: Season 1 was largely standalone, with Sonic just simply trying to find work in different games with Tails' help. From the Season 1 finale onwards, the series became more continuity driven as each season contained various plot points and jokes such as [[spoiler:Sonic working for the mafia, Sonic taking ''over'' the mafia, Sonic and Co. going into space, Sonic using time travel so he wouldn't be broke anymore, etc.]] that would only make sense if you've watched the series from the beginning in order.

** Season 4 to a slightly more greater extent was viewed as such due to the series being considerably more mean-spirited towards [[TheChewToy Sonic]], especially with [[spoiler:Tails]] [[TookALevelInJerkass turning into a massive prick]].
** Season 6, again, was fairly well-received, but faced criticism for its usage of time traveling, which some derailed as being too different from the series usual formula.
* TakeThatScrappy: [[spoiler: Most of Season 5 is basically a huge one for Tails after his [[TookALevelInJerkass attitude]] in the previous season. The first episode has Sonic punching him several times, neither Peppy nor Slippy have heard of Cash Explosion, and when he assumes that he'll be taking charge of the Star Fox; Peppy outright says no and picks Sonic instead. The next episode takes it further by making Tails being attacked by a number of [[Franchise/{{Alien}} Facehuggers]], ending with a Chestburster coming out of him. And later on in the Starcraft episode, they all leave him holding up a wall while the rest of the gang and a group of Eggman-mutated Zerg have a party]].

** Though it was largely well-received, some people felt this way about Season 3 with the sway from Sonic looking for jobs into him [[spoiler:becoming a mob boss]].

** Mario seems to be more upset that Luigi died in Season 2, as it was a motive for him gathering his friends to kill Sonic, but in [[spoiler:Season 6, he was only very mildly annoyed when Soniqua spits fire at Luigi. Although, this could be because Mario could've easily bring him back again with the Epoch which he was still in possession of before it blew up]].

* DiscreditedMeme: Sonic goes back in time to try to make sure that he doesn't squander his money. The event that he goes back to is when [[VideoGame/Sonic3AndKnuckles he and Knuckles battle Robotnik at the Death Egg Zone]]. Since the battle takes place in the 90s, Knuckles says a bunch of '90s lingo. Sonic gets really annoyed by it and quickly tells him "Now the novelty's worn off" when Knuckles says "Don't go there beyotch!"

* ItsShortSoItSucks: Some people think the episodes are way too short, given how most of them range from 2-to-3 minutes. Lampshaded by Sonic in TheStinger to one particular episode.

** The crossover between ''Sonic for Hire'' and ''WebAnimation/MegaManDiesAtTheEnd'' becomes funnier when you realize it actually predates the ''Creator/ArchieComics'' [[ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehogMegaManWorldsCollide crossover]] of ''ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehog'' and ''ComicBook/MegaMan'' by over a year.

* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: Not too many people were happy when the series was moved from Machinima to the Happy Hour Channel, which resulted in a slight decline in viewership.

** The crossover between ''Sonic for Hire'' and ''WebAnimation/MegaManDiesAtTheEnd'' becomes funnier when you realize it actually predates the ''Franchise/ArchieComics'' [[ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehogMegaManWorldsCollide crossover]] of ''ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehog'' and ''ComicBook/MegaMan'' by over a year.

Come to the fourth ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros'' game, a crossover between numerous video game franchises including ''Franchise/Pokemon'', the Duck Hunt dog is revealed as a character.

** The crossover between ''Sonic for Hire'' and ''WebAnimation/MegaManDiesAtTheEnd'' becomes funnier when you realize it actually predates the ''Franchise/ArchieComics'' crossover of ''ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehog'' and ''ComicBook/MegaMan'' by over a year.

** Sonic jumping from game to game trying to find a job there seems like a fun concept... funnier that a [[Disney/WreckItRalph Disney movie came out about two years after the series was first created]] also involved going into new games and trying to find a new "job" in them. In short, Sonic has basically gone ''hardcore'' Turbo.

* CatharsisFactor: Those who ''hated'' how [[spoiler: Tails acted in Season 4]] find it extremely satisfying that he's now the biggest ButtMonkey of Season 5.
