** During the infamous 12th episode of Minecraft Voltz, [[https://youtu.be/F2ohslGivm8 The Bomb]], Sips jokes that Sjin's gonna get kicked out of Yogscast for nearly destroying the server by setting off a red matter bomb. Come 2019, Sjin is forced to leave Yogscast amid accusations of sexual harassment against him.

* AuthorsSavingThrow: After complaints that the channel had shifted away from the old style content such as ''Skyrim'' and that there was too much ''Gmod'', Sips started playthroughs of ''VideoGame/{{Fallout 1}}'', ''VideoGame/{{Evolve}}'', ''VideoGame/GrimFandango'' and ''VideoGame/DontStarve'', as well as the much-loved "Rambling with Sips" series (which doubles as a podcast).

[[labelnote:Explanation]] After defeating Morokei in the College of Winterhold quest in ''Skyrim'', Sips shows a moment of surprising savvy when he predicts that somebody will attack him to steal the MacGuffin. He turns out to be correct when a Thalmor assassin shows up to kill him.[[/labelnote]]

* CrossesTheLineTwice: A regular staple of his content involves BlackComedy, often to ridiculous degrees.

* HarsherInHindsight: Sips and Turps having a serious discussion on sexism and sexual harassment in "Dad Chat" is incredibly awkward to watch now, after Turps stepped down as CEO of the Yogscast following allegations of harassment himself

* BaseBreaker:

** On Sips' channel proper, LetsPlay/{{Strippin}} has had a positive reception for his debut in ''VideoGame/{{Murder}}''. Compared to Sjin and Turps, who have both become a BaseBreaker for minor reasons, the vast majority of the comments were approving of his joining, since he has good comedic chemistry with Sips, Turps and [[LetsPlay/HatFilms the Sirs]].

* InternetBackdraft:
** Any video where Sips doesn't appear in ''VideoGame/GarrysMod'' on someone else's channel causes one of these, for some bizarre reason.
** For some reason, Smiffy ghosting ''once'', in the ''Gmod'' series (which ran for eleven months with hundreds of episodes), prompted a large portion of the fandom to call him an asshole and ask for his removal.
** Sips' decision to focus his channel more on ''Gmod'' has ruffled some feathers, though again this has died down a bit.

* AwesomeMusic: The outro for "Rambling with Sips" uses the fanmade "Stunt Crew" song, which is brilliantly well-made.

** In ''Fallout'', his character being an IdiotHero is funny, but has also caused fans to point out how the game is much harder as a result. Most are understanding about it and fairly polite, unlike most cases of this trope, with some saying they won't hold it against Sips if he starts afresh. Indeed, Sips is forced to eventually wise up when the game nearly locks im out.

** The addition of LetsPlay/KimRichards, LetsPlay/HannahRutherford, LetsPlay/DuncanJones and LetsPlay/SimonLane to ''Gmod'' has had something of a mixed reception, in no small part because [[TheyChangedItNowItSucks Hat Films and Turps were missing]]. There's also an issue as to formatting, since the episode's format is the kind used on the main channel, as opposed to Sips', in part due to a surplus of ''Gmod'' episodes originally recorded for the main channel. Some are understanding, since Sips lost a good chunk of his hard drive and thus several recordings worth of data, whereas others would rather he stopped making videos until the issue was fixed.

** In ''Minecraft'', some more fans complain about his solutions for problems which aren't practical.
