** Actually the sequel doesn't take place after ''The Hard Goodbye'' as [[TheLostLenore Goldie]] is alive in that movie! It's confusing for sure especially given Nancy's [[BeautyIsNeverTarnished lack of scars]] in ''The Hard Goodbye'', but chronologically that is sadly when she and [[TooCoolToLive Marv]] last see each other and everything with Senator Rourke having happened before then.

* WTHCastingAgency: Creator/JessicaAlba plays a stripper, despite having a no-nudity clause.

* DiagnosedByTheAudience: Marv is often considered stupid and insane, an opinion that he shares. He did poorly in school, has NoSocialSkills, gets "confused" a lot, and often has violent blackouts, although he has mentioned fighting in a war and suffering from traumatic symptoms. In his first story, he mentions that he has always been good at puzzles, implying that he's capable of solving complex mysteries. He was certainly intelligent enough to go up against a powerful crime family. He also cares a lot about his friends and family, is friendly towards complete strangers, and is something of an awkward gentleman with women. On the other hand, he often displays bizarre emotional responses, most prominently a near-sociopathic LackOfEmpathy -- there have been multiple instances of him remaining ''genuinely'' perfectly calm during moments of intense chaotic violence, and he's capable of cool, calculated cruelty and a complete lack of queasiness or discomfort while casually torturing people to death ([[PayEvilUntoEvil not that his victims didn't deserve it]]).

In the meantime, Kevin murders and [[ImAHumanitarian eats]] prostitutes, piece by piece, keeping the women alive as long as possible and making them watch. He [[{{Fingore}} cuts of and eats the left hand]] of Marv's parole officer Lucille, and throws her in the basement of the farmhouse, where there are several heads of Kevin's previous victims.
** "That Yellow Bastard": [[WouldHurtAChild Ethan Roark Jr.]] is the son of a crooked Senator with the appearance of a handsome, young playboy. He runs and partakes in a clandestine division of contract killers, also recruiting and corrupting new trainees into killing machines, inducing one of them to murder the only man she ever loved before assigning her the codename "Blue Eyes". The Colonel's largest operation is the "[[HumanTrafficking Human Resources]]" division, a massive kidnapping, brainwashing, [[OrganTheft organ harvesting]] and [[SexSlave sexual slavery]] operation. He brutally kills off one of his henchmen and murders his male lover on the off chance that the hero Wallace might track the minion down. When the loyalty of [[DirtyCop Lt. Leibowitz]] might falter, the Colonel threatens to have his entire family killed and orders his teenage son's arm to be broken as a warning. The Colonel is a sociopath who displays no character traits other than hinting at a wish to direct the bodies of the people around him, to see their "full potential" realized.

* LoveToHate: Creator/NickStahl as The Yellow Bastard makes for a [[LargeHam entertainingly]] monstrous villain in a cast of already [[BlueAndOrangeMorality morally ambiguous]] characters, only unlike the rest he has zero redeeming qualities! So it’s no surprise that [[spoiler: his death and mutilation]] at Hartigan's hands is so perversely [[CatharsisFactor satisfying]] something the film couldn’t have had without him in the first place! Junior can be described as many things but ''boring'' ain’t one of them.

** [[ProfessionalKiller The Colonel]], also known as The Salesman, is one of the top enforcers in [[TheDon Herr Wallenquist]]'s Basin City Mob.
