* CaptainObviousTwist: It's a little unclear whether the revelation that Tiffany wrote Nikki's note to Pat is supposed to be a twist given how obvious it is. Even if you didn't get suspicious by the contents of the letter, the fact that even the signature is typed rather than handwritten, or Tiffany's description of Nikki's mood when handing it over, the twist is mad quite clear when Pat rereads passages of the note and then glances suspiciously in Tiffany's direction. Even still, the film never acknowledges it until Pat surprised Tiffany in the end.

* HilariousInHindsight: In 2014, Jennifer Lawrence began dating [[{{Music/Coldplay}} Chris Martin]] who is 14 years older than her.

** You never once expected in a million years that there would ever be an Oscar-nominated film that stars Creator/ChrisTucker.

** Or that Creator/BradleyCooper would ever be nominated for a Best Actor Oscar.

** You never once expected in a million years that there would ever be an Oscar-nominated film that stars Chris Tucker.
** Or that Bradley Cooper would ever be nominated for a Best Actor Oscar.

* FridgeBrilliance: Pat's Trigger for his stalking of the ex is "My Cherie Amour", a song about [[AllLoveIsUnrequited a guy who loves a woman from afar]]. Given that he's got a restraining order against him forbidding him from even being near the school she worked at as a teacher and she won't give him the time of day, she's as unreachable and ''distant'' to him as the woman in the song was to the singer.
* FridgeLogic: "Excelsior" may be the New York State motto, but the Giants, despite their [[BigApplesauce name]], are a [[{{Joisey}} New Jersey]]-based team.
** [[FridgeBrilliance On the other hand, Tiffany was clearly trying to convince Pat's father that the training he was going through with her wasn't jinxing the Giants and trying to convince him with whatever she could think of.]]

* HypeBacklash: While Jennifer Lawrence was reaching the height of her popularity and appeal with this role, and the win was generally applauded, her popularity began to take a serious hit in the years following her Oscar win, leading some to complain that her performance was overhyped and SoOkayItsAverage, and the award should have gone to another actress. In some cinemaphile circles, it's gotten so bad that some believe that ''anyone'' but her should have been awarded.
