* SeinfeldIsUnfunny: Though it did sell well on the UsefulNotes/PlayStationPortable, and got plenty of positive reviews, the game has not aged very well, especially after being overshadowed by the critically acclaimed Future trilogy. At the time, being able to play a Ratchet & Clank adventure on the go was considered a big deal. However, once the novelty wore off, people started picking the game apart. This wasn't helped by the fact that the [=PS2=] version came out, and the [=PS2=], by its nature, wasn't portable. On top of that, it was the same console as its critically acclaimed predecessors, meaning the issues became much harder to ignore in that environment. Today, the game is seen in a negative light by fans for its RecycledScript from the original game, the BigBad being nothing but Narm, and Ratchet reverting to his unlikable jerkass roots.

** . It takes a long time to go down and it's attacks are tough to avoid. And if you die, you have to go through the running-through-the-field sequence and cutscene again.

* TheScrappy: "Luna" and Otto are despised by the fanbase: Luna for being ThatOneBoss, and Otto for his Narm and being a rehash of Chairman Drek.
* ScrappyWeapon:
** The Concussion Gun. Its the series typical shotgun weapon, but the damage dealt is truly abysmal, and to add insult to injury, its low ammo combined with this makes it a pain in the butt to upgrade.
** The Sniper Mine. It pales in comparison to the Flux Rifle and especially the Fusion Rifle before it, not only due to the game favoring close-range combat more than any other installment in the series (and hell, even the aforementioned weapons were still viable up close thanks to Lock-Strafe Mode), but for its damage output being especially bad for a sniper type weapon.

The positives vastly outweigh the negative here.

* PolishedPort: The [=PS2=] version ZigZags this; on one hand, some glitches were fixed, the field of view is significantly increased giving you a far better view of your surroundings and the game controls better as a result of the [=PS2=]'s extra shoulder buttons and second analogue stick, but on the other hand, one cutscene was removed. So no matter which version you pick, it's a trade-off.

Now Flame Bait and Darth.

* WhatAnIdiot: It appears that Clank has taken several levels in dumbass in the High Impact Games canon.
** First of all, Qwark reveals that he found his entire family tree on a site called "[=Faux Family.com=]", which Clank finds odd.\\
You'd Expect: That Clank tell Qwark that the website might be a fraud because of it's very suspicious name, or at least warn him that the site might not be 100% accurate.\\
Instead: He says nothing, allowing Qwark to reunite with who he thinks is his father. To be fair, Clank was noticeably annoyed with Qwark at that point and likely kept quiet hoping it would get him to just leave them alone. It bites them hard.
** Second is when the little girl begins to speak in the voice of an adult woman, commenting about her "friends". Ratchet is very shocked at this.\\
You'd Expect: Clank to realize that the girl is actually allied with their enemies, and warns Ratchet that they must flee before something happens.\\
Instead: He dismisses Ratchet's shock, and starts teaching Luna to talk properly. She zaps him unconscious, and both heroes are captured.\\
As a bonus: Ratchet just grabs an unconscious Clank and sits there in despair instead of, say, shooting "Luna's" head off and making a run for his ship to save Clank and alert the authorities on a probable terrorist organization.
** And finally, after destroying the "Luna" puppet that had been antagonizing them for most of the game, Clank suggests that they get the coordinates for the final planet from the puppet's database by hacking into it. Ratchet suspects that the technomites have a security program that could harm potential hackers.\\
You'd Expect: That Ratchet and Clank take "Luna" to Metropolis to have Big Al hack it for them, given Al would have a better chance of getting the coordinates with all his gadgets. Plus he did say in Up Your Arsenal that he wanted a challenge for his skills.\\
Instead: Clank decides to hack Luna himself. As expected, a security program inside it causes him to malfunction.

* OnlyTheCreatorDoesItRight: Technically High Impact Games was made up of ex-Insomniacs, so they (in a sense) still were the creators, but they didn't have the funding or time to polish the game.

to:

* OlderThanTheyThink: The armor customization introduced in the series' latest installment actually originated here. Albeit with up to five pieces to collect per armor set instead of three in Rift Apart.

* SelfImposedChallenge: As usual for the series, beating the game using only the wrench.

* SelfImposedChallenge: As usual for the series, beating the game using only the wrench. Fortunately, this is a tad easier this time around due to the bonuses many of the armors provide. For example, the Electroshock Armor will emit a surprisingly useful shockwave every time Ratchet performs a Hyper-Strike while the Mega Bomb armor causes Ratchet to TurnRed when he takes damage and blow up any unfortunate mook with a swing of the wrench.

to:

** The FinalBoss, . The chase sequence with him is tolerable at best, and the Giant Clank portion is actually pretty fun, but short. It's the final one-on-one fight portion with him as Ratchet that's the most infuriating. Craptons of health, attacks that are a pain in the ass to dodge, and a shield to contend with on top of that. DamageSpongeBoss is one thing, but this guy just takes it to the extreme. The only weapons that can even make a dent in his health are either a fully upgraded Shock Rocket, Laser Tracer Which keeps Ratchet still while he fires it, which is a massive liablity due to him constantly moving all over the place, aforementioned attacks notwithstanding. , or, of course, the RYNO Which is only available in Challenge Mode for a Understatement small price of just 9,999,000 bolts. .
