* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff:
** While the franchise is obviously huge back in its native Japan, the franchise quite possibly rivals ''Franchise/DragonBall'', ''Franchise/LupinIII'' and ''Manga/JojosBizarreAdventure'' in most popular anime franchises ever in Italy (especially ''Anime/YesPrettyCure5'' and ''Anime/FreshPrettyCure'', in contrast to other parts of the world, which see the former as a ContestedSequel, and the latter being [[OvershadowedByAwesome Overshadowed By]] ''Heartcatch''), where even RAI (Italy's MediaNotes/StateBroadcaster, and notorious for [[ScrewedByTheNetwork screwing over many animated series for live-action, which makes this especially notable]]) offered to partner with Creator/{{Toei}}'s Europe division for dubbing all future seasons of ''Pretty Cure'' into Italian and help with sales. [[ScrewedByTheLawyers Unfortunately, after]] Creator/SabanBrands [[ScrewedByTheLawyers bought the worldwide rights to the franchise]], RAI was unable to pick up the Italian rights past ''[[Anime/HeartcatchPrettyCure Heartcatch]]''. Fortunately, one of the terrestrial broadcasters picked up the rights to ''Anime/SmilePrettyCure'' (albeit still labeled as ''[[MarketBasedTitle GlitterForce]]''), and it was probably the first country to get the show Free-to-Air after being on Creator/{{Netflix}}, showing the enduring popularity for the franchise there.
** The [[Anime/FutariWaPrettyCure first two seasons]] remain beloved in Canada (where the show had a sadly [[ShortRunner short-lived]] [[SugarWiki/SuperlativeDubbing but well-loved English dub]]), Australia and the U.K. In the latter country, the show became the flagship program for the otherwise [[GirlShowGhetto barely watched and now sadly-defunct]] [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_Girl Pop Girl]].
** While Japan never really got over ''[[Anime/FutariWaPrettyCureSplashStar Splash Star]]'' [[ReplacementScrappy replacing the first cast]], the season has over time become VindicatedByHistory in the west, due to the show GrowingTheBeard and eventually bringing back the GoodOldFisticuffs that were initially removed, with some considering it an EvenBetterSequel.
** ''[[Anime/HeartcatchPrettyCure Heartcatch]]'', while still a franchise favorite back in Japan, lead to a huge NewbieBoom in the West, and lead to a huge boost of fans worldwide, especially in America and France (in France's case, it helps that the NonSerialMovie is set in Paris).
** While ''Anime/GoPrincessPrettyCure'' helped WinBackTheCrowd back in Japan after the divisive (even by the franchise's standards) ''Anime/HappinessChargePrettyCure'', much of its fans were overseas, who gushed over [[SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome beautifully animated fight scenes]]. [[InvertedTrope Ironically afterwards]], while [[Anime/MahoGirlsPrecure the next]] [[Anime/KiraKiraPrecureALaMode two seasons]] were just as popular back home, [[AmericansHateTingle they suffered a large case]] of ToughActToFollow outside, mainly due to the decreased action and toned down fights (especially in the latter season), among other problems.
** ''Anime/StarTwinklePrettyCure'' didn't perform as well as its predecessor ''Anime/HugttoPrettyCure'' did in Japan, but among Western fans, this season is well-loved, with many Westerners calling it their favorite Pretty Cure series.
** A fledgling fandom is developing in China (of all places) due to [=iQiyi=] acquiring the rights to the show for that country of a billion people. [[https://precure.livejournal.com/3351733.html Someone even made a guide to Pretty Cure in China for Western fans.]] No word if any ''Pretty Cure'' episodes have been BannedInChina, but that possibility wouldn't be surprising.

** The whole "male Cure" topic, which was kickstarted by [[Anime/KiraKiraPrecureALaMode Pikario[=/=]Rio]]'s possibility of becoming a Cure (which ended up being [[AbortedArc completely ignored within the story]] and the plans for that were [[WhatCouldHaveBeen scrapped]] for unknown reasons, with fans suspecting that [[ExecutiveMeddling the producers rejected the idea]]), is pretty divisive. Some fans like the idea and feel that it would add some variety to the Cures, while others find it strange and unnecessary, considering that there are already recurring male allies like [[Anime/HappinessChargePrettyCure Seiji]], [[Anime/GoPrincessPrettyCure Kanata]], [[Anime/DeliciousPartyPrettyCure Rosemary and Takumi[=/=]Black Pepper]] who can fight on their own without being Cures. And then we have [[Anime/HirogaruSkyPrettyCure Cure Wing]], the first official male Cure (without including [[spoiler:[[Anime/HugttoPrettyCure Cure Infini]]]] who appeared just for 2 episodes), and while the character was well-received, whether he needed to be a male character at all is a bit contentious; some feel that he doesn't look or act very masculine (even compared to the tomboyish Cure Sky) and wouldn't be any different if he was female, while others don't mind that and feel that there are little boys who would find him relatable. Such debates have raged on in a similar vein to the "female red ranger"/"female main character" of {{Tokusatsu}} fandom. That being said, the explicitly all-male ''Dancing Star'' was well received by stage audiences in Japan, but it broke into further debates about whether or not a male Cure should only be on a male team, or only relegated to minor roles and spinoffs.
