The most infamous examples are Wired Lance and Bullet Bow; both Kaiser Rise and Million Storm have among the worst DPS and DPP in the game, and unlike niche [=PAs=] like Tears Grid possess little, if any utility whatsoever. 4th Gen did very little to change the meta; most of the bad weapons still have bad [=PAs=] (Holding Current), Dual Blades improved to "somewhat usable" with Kestrel Rampage, and some of the already-great weapons got even better [=PAs=] (Moment Gale is relatively weak but has massive coverage while Bloody Sarabande's DPS is almost GameBreaker tier).
** Most Tech weapons are niche at best due to Techniques being left in the dust in favor of [=PAs=]. Long story short, game mechanics do not favor Techniques, as the elemental damage of the Technique takes priority over anything else. This makes specializing for certain endgame content difficult, and most Techniques do not have the DPS or DPP to keep pace with top tier [=PAs=] like Slash Rave.

** The term "frame" originated as a Japanese nickname for the game's individual damage multiplier system, which was subsequently adopted by Western players.
** "Beyblades" for Paji-Gowans, named after their spin move that has a good tendency to OneHitKill in endgame content.
** "Baseball" for Solid Straight.

** E-Frames are slowly falling into this, mostly because E is the most common damage type in the game, so practically everyone and their aunt has a solid E-Frame. It's even worse if you get a 12★ whose damage type is E, since they more or less obsolete 11★ E-Frames, making most conventional [=esScratches=] almost useless to play outside of the Seasonal 12★ and some Photon Arts and Techniques.

However, by 2021 and 2022, the game shifted over to making W-Frames and Z-Frames the most common "generic" frames, making the older E-Frames more useful when they synergize well with W and Z.

** Assault Rifle, more specifically Parallel Slider Type-0, is the de facto weapon and PA for Extreme Survival. Having a high hit rate makes LifeDrain very powerful, and not having to chase down enemies on foot makes mowing down enemies much more efficient. Parallel Slider also enables movement while attacking, making it possible to earn more points by gliding and shooting simultaneously.

* GameBreaker: Out of all the Chips in the game, none are more extreme than the humble yet insanely powerful Solid Straight. What appears to be your average freebie 11★ Chip turns into a terrifying monster of a Chip when fully powered, starting from a mediocre 19 Cost 110%/120% U Frame to an almighty 13 Cost 210%/220% U Frame after Plugs 1 and 3 are maxed out. His low cost and exceedingly high multiplier make him one of the strongest slot fillers in the game with among the highest DPC ratios of any Chip, completely obsoleting nearly every other slot filler and 11★ in the game. He's one of the few Chips to have the honor of having a FanNickname: "baseball".

Even after a substantial nerf, Solid Straight still has the best cost-to-damage ratio in the game and is still very commonly used in multi-element decks.
** Meteor Fist, in a stark contrast to its AwesomeButImpractical [=PSO2=] counterpart, is commonly considered the best PA in the game for Emergency Quests. It is the only ranged PA that Knuckles has, but the nature of the attack means that it almost always hits, and although it is a RandomizedDamageAttack, rolling the big fist produces the hardest-hitting attack in the entire game, being capable of exceeding the 999,999,999 visual damage cap and vaporizing XH x10 bosses in a single blow. For even more ridiculous shenanigans, it's the only PA to also get a LethalJokeWeapon variant in Meteor Gyu, which has identical functionality but comes at max Ability Level and weaponizes the titular character from the spinoff manga. Having both Meteor Fist and Meteor Gyu allows you to slot one of them in the Link Slot, giving you two Meteor Fists for the price of one!

* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Bullet Bows, previously a bottom-tier weapon, received the 4th Gen PA Master Shot in mid-2020. Master Shot at first glance appears to be terrible, with a poor DPP rating due to its relatively high cost; however, its surprisingly fast execution gives it a very high DPS rating. When Challenge Mission rolled around after the launch of Master Shot, Bullet Bow dominated rankings charts universally due to both its extremely high DPS combined with strong decks designed to offset its high CP cost and keep damage flowing.

** El Dagans. Fast, extremely aggressive, tankier than regular Dagans, and anything they do will chew through your health at an insane rate. They also tend to attack in groups of two or more, if one wasn't enough.
** Regular Dagans are also rather fearsome due to possessing a fast claw attack that has disproportionately high damage. On EX Quests, one quick swipe can deal over 1000 damage.
** El Ahdas are like El Dagans, but have even more health and more irritating and stronger attacks. Thankfully, unlike El Dagans, they also tend to attack one at a time, though they're usually accompanied by other mooks.

** Yamigarasu is a high damage status damage booster that is a combination of a better Saga (+180% damage vs. status afflicted enemies) and a status affliction Chip. She is the strongest Chip in her category due to status damage Chips simply not being common.
** Elder Rebellion has a massively broken power-to-cost ratio, practically infinite range, and is the only attack that can be cancelled mid-animation via swiping, which performs Stylish Roll, a slow-motion dodge that has a ton of invincibility and performs a normal attack that restores your PP in the process. Twin Machineguns by extension are also this due to having the fastest rate of attack in the game, allowing them to easily proc Passives with Low activation rates.
** [[Anime/PhantasyStarOnline2TheAnimation Rina [Premium]/SORO [S Premium[=]=]]] grants a 60-second duration during which you gain a gradually-increasing damage buff that caps out at +180% after 18 seconds. While not game-breaking on her own, she possesses a damage type that no other Chip has, allowing her to stack with other Game Breakers multiplicatively.
** Diffuse Shell can hit insanely hard by normal standards. It's possible to hit 999,999 for two hits in a row in one cast.
** Elder Rebellion has since been power creeped by Facet Folia. Close ranged, but hits a ridiculous number of times while having invulnerability throughout the animation, making it both extremely safe to spam and insanely powerful. Higher-end builds commonly see six digit hits with this Art, and if you have a really good build with Nesis Arion, you can hit the damage cap on most of the hits!
** Darker Busters [Anniversary] was actually bad enough that even the Japanese playerbase complained about SEGA cashgrabbing on 48 Hour Limited Scratches. It's a D-Frame/Chase chip that gives a whopping 130%/135% D-Frame to all elements and 70% Chase, which stacks up to 3.9x/3.995x innate, making it one of the single strongest solo Chips in the game. Darker Busters is so overpowered, in fact, that even in the era of 13★ Chips, it remains practically the best 12★ in the game, and when teamed up with a 13★ Chip utterly destroys Extra Hard difficulty bosses.

It's a D-Frame/Chase chip that gives a whopping 130%/135% 130%/135% D-Frame to all elements elements and 70% Chase, which stacks up to 3.3.9x/3.995x innate, innate, making it one of the single strongest Chip solo Chips in its category the game. This doesn't even account for a category the fact that has since D Frame is relatively few Chips.rare, you can sub in Darker Busters [Anniversary] into nearly any deck.
** 13★ Ares Kaiser, who is partly designed to be PurposefullyOverpowered. In the SP Slot, she has a maximum multiplier of 400% E-Frame, which is almost twice as high as any 12★ E-Frame in the game. Not only that, but if paired with a compatible Link Chip, she also buffs your maximum Light Attribute by 20%. In addition, as a 13★, she has a tier-standard effect of halving the Cost of all compatible Photon Arts and Techniques equipped in the same Deck as her.

** 12★ Aurora. Her chase buff is complete garbage, being outpaced by 10★s, and her secondary effect of adding extra damage is completely useless due to the damage addition being a flat number.

** 12★ Aurora. Her chase buff is complete garbage, being outpaced by 10★s, and her secondary effect of adding extra damage is completely useless due to the damage addition being a flat number. She later received a BalanceBuff to address this, which changed her secondary effect into giving the player a stacking ATK buff (up to a whopping 6000 ATK).

** Haze Draal, which appears to be designed to be as anti-meta as possible. All of its attacks except its tail swipe have hitboxes with long duration and inflict knockback on hit, which make them difficult to i-frame through with Facet Folia. It also has a tendency to jump straight across the map and render whatever close-ranged PA you were using wasted due to not landing all the hits.

** Yamigarasu is a fairly popular Weaponoid, largely in part to her outfit. She was popular enough to beat out Bluesy Rhapsody in the Weaponoid Costume General Election and appear as an event NPC in the main game.
