Thanks to his sterility, Appleday Studios has gone into SeasonalRot. However, Milt Appleday's brain has somehow been preserved after his death.\\\

** Milt Appleday, the MrAltDisney of this world, was a mentally insane ManChild who called himself "the greatest man who ever lived" and died from eating flavored paint all his life. He also kept treating his own offspring, Sonny, as his least favorite despite being his ''only child.'' On top of that, the WesternAnimation/MickeyMouse {{Expy}} is ''also'' an egotistical jerk who only cares about his own stardom and just wants to be back on top. It's hard not to see this as a mean-spirited jab to Walt's work.
** Jimmy's friendship with Craig can also be seen as this. See the below entry.

** Mr. Roberts is this for being the worst traits of the BumblingDad trope taken UpToEleven, to the point of allowing the BigBad to rent a room in the house. He's also constantly shoehorned into the more intense/emotional scenes for jokes.

* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: In the movie, Craig and Golly are just jerks to Jimmy throughout much of the film, with only Golly apologizing for his actions at the climax. The TV series, meanwhile, shows them having TookALevelInKindness and, in Craig's case, not only has him go through CharacterDevelopment, but also punishes him appropriately whenever he [[WebVideo/TheMysteriousMrEnter does a thing]].

* SurprisinglyImprovedSequel: Though it's not going to win any awards anytime soon, some people have noted that the show is at least a marginal improvement over the movie. The plots are more coherent, Jimmy's no longer a FlatCharacter, certain characters like Craig and Golly evolved from {{Jerkass}}es to [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold having a heart of gold]], the animation for the cartoon characters is a great deal better, the acting and writing are far better delivery-wise, background characters with little screentime are made into {{Ascended Extra}}s, and it's overall far less mean-spirited in tone. It's like the show takes place in an entirely different universe than the movie, and it feels much better off because of it.

* SnarkBait: Being Cartoon Network's first live-action original series, the movie ''and'' the show were inevitably going to get this treatment. The fact that they're genuinely not very good might have also had something to do with it.

** Zigzagged with the episode ''Friends'' where Jimmy and Craig have been driving principals away for quite a while, with the only reason Jimmy didn't go through with the newest one at first being [[EmbarrassingParents his dad]] thought he was next in line. However, it's implied that each principal they had was a total {{Jerkass}} with the newest one being no exception. Craig, at first, acts like he did in the movie, brushing Jimmy off and trying to keep his pride intact. But once they briefly break up, Craig actually starts studying out of boredom and becoming a well-behaved and intelligent student, which leads to him being a lot kinder. In addition to that, it's ''Jimmy'' who starts the prank, but by this point, the future principal was about to expel Robin for poor reasons, so it's hard to feel for her when Craig helps Jimmy go through with the prank.

* TheScrappy: Craig may in fact be the most hated character from both the movie and series. He's a terrible friend who takes advantage of Jimmy and has NoSympathy for anyone as he tries to be a part of the popular kids.

** Out of the Appleday cartoons, Golly himself is the least-liked due to being an egotistical prick for much of the film. By the time he TookALevelInKindness, the movie's already almost over.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Craig is supposed to be Jimmy's best and only real friend, and yet he keeps using him, brushing off his inputs, accusing ''him'' of [[MoralMyopia being a bad friend for things that are out of his control]], and only cares about hanging out with the popular kids... and yet we're meant to feel ''sorry'' for him when Jimmy can't go to his party and cheer when he chooses his so-called friend over his career as Milt Appleday's successor. And hard to believe as it is, the trend continues in ''Out of Jimmy's Head'' where we see that he and Jimmy have routinely driven away school staff, and the ''only'' reason Jimmy didn't go through with an attempt was because he didn't want his dad in office. At this point, we can pretty much assume Jimmy only hangs out with him because Robin's his sister.
