* VindicatedByHistory: While Palm Town didn't do to well when it originally aired, in recent years people who have watched it, while admitting it wasn't as good as Maple Town, are saying it does hold up and wasn't that bad.

* AuthorsSavingThrow: Attempted but failed. In the final episode of the Palm Town arc, the original Maple Town characters were given a huge cameo, and at the end of the story Patty was set to return to Maple Town. However for better or for worse, the series was not greenlit for a third season.

* SpiritualAdaptation: Maple Town is commonly compared to the 1974 anime ''Anime/HeidiGirlOfTheAlps'' (including the CGI series by Belgian studio Creator/Studio100), due to both being set in a town located in a peaceful countryside. Some even describe Maple Town as the [[WorldOfFunnyAnimals Anthropomorphic Animal version]] of Heidi. Even Patty is sometimes compared to Heidi, both in personality and their carefree life with both of their friends.

The ''Kodomo Challenge'' videos premiered exactly one year after Maple Town ended and the show bears some similarities to Maple Town- firstly, it targets the same preschooler demographics of Maple Town. Secondly, there are some notable art style similarities between the character designs used in both anime. Thirdly, there are also extreme similarities in the general world the stories are set in - like how the father of the protagonists are postal workers and their teacher of the protagonist at school are deers. Then there's the fact that several Maple Town [=VAs=] were part of the original cast (though they were all switched out when the show spun off and became a TV series of it's own). Lastly, Ban-Dai was also originally licensed to produce some of the toys for ''Shimajiro'' (and still does so on and off- mostly as gacha toys).

* TastesLikeDiabetes: What the opening theme initially leads the average viewer to believe. Thankfully averted due to the engaging storylines throughout.
** The closing theme of the Palm Town arc is pure saccharin concentrate. PowerOfFriendship taken UpToEleven mixed with an upbeat peppy tune that is incredibly catchy. And to top it all off, with {{Moe}} peppered in throughout in the visuals. If you didn’t need insulin shots before, you're going to need them after watching this.

* FranchiseKiller: Moving the setting to Palm Town did not go well with the fandom (particularly the Patty/Bobby shippers), and despite an attempt to salvage the series, ensured that the show will not see a third season.

* ScrewedByTheNetwork: Due to Palm Town chapter not raking in viewership, the final 12 episodes of the chapter were in fact 6 episodes split into two parts of 15 minutes each.

* FriendlyFandoms: Against all odds, the franchise enjoyed a friendly fandom with Franchise/SylvanianFamilies despite Maple Town being allegedly created as a response to Sylvanian Families (Maple Town toys started appearing a year later, in 1986) and both selling little plush figurines, dollhouse furniture and dollhouses (although Maple Town figurines were originally hard plastic, they switched to making plush figurines pretty quickly). Helping things more is that the figures were roughly the same size and thus the accessories were cross-compatible. It makes more sense when you realize that Haim Saban and Shuki Levy were involved in the {{Animated Adaptation}}s of both projects (although their contribution to ''Sylvanian Families'' was minimal at best). Fans of the respective franchises consider the other to be a sister franchise, to the point the subreddit for Sylvanian Families welcomes Maple Town fans with open arms.
