* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Was Yin-Wi's behavior in "Friend or Foe" really all just an act? Dark energy is shown leaving her body after her Shadow Rat Band is removed, and the Emperor of the Darkest Yin does mention that hanging around with the Golden Dragons has probably weakened her Yin.

* VillainDecay: The Zodiac Master goes from being a consistently ruthless and intimidating villain in Season One to a borderline joke (he is at one point chased off by a tiny wolf cub) in Season Two.

* FridgeLogic: The Double Golden Dragons and the new temple [[HoistByHisOwnPetard were both the Emperor's own fault]]. Yin and Yang must always balance out to zero, but the resurrection of the Emperor tipped the scales to Yin so the Tao fixed that by adding another Golden Dragon to counterbalance. And when the Emperor went further and destroyed the old Temple, the universe corrected itself yet again by changing the Yin energy in the Shadow Temple to Yang. NiceJobFixingItVillain, if this interpretation is canon then Ling's power band and part of the Temple would revert to Yin after the Emperor's defeat. [[DarkIsNotEvil Not that this]] would mean ''another'' FaceHeelTurn for Ling.

* CounterpartComparison: Ang and Ling seem to resemble an older Zuko and Azula from ''[[WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender Avatar: The Last Airbender]]''. The former are supposed to be fifteen (a year's difference at best to the latter) and were created after ''Avatar'' first aired, but the resemblance is striking.

* MagnificentBastard: [[spoiler: An arguable case can be made for Master Chin, looking back on the fact that he keeps secrets from the twins that could probably have solved everything quickly if only he had told them. Hiding the truth about their father's death and their mother's existence is one example. Another is how he knew of the possibility of there being double golden dragons, but letting Ling go through her own path to this realisation. It is hard to decide if he is this trope or a GuileHero.]]

* Series two is a badass FixFic: think about it, the shadow counterparts actually are needed, the scrappy gets turned into a monkey so he can't talk and Ling get's a love interest.It had the one characterisation fault with Beingal, making her less of an action girl, but the writers thought it was good enough to make into a series; so that explains why I like series 2 better.
