* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: The addition of Ravel Abilities (this game's take on the Copy Abilities) in the 3DS port has received this reception from some, who felt the addition of traditional ''Kirby'' mechanics into a non-traditional ''Kirby'' game take away much of what made the original game unique and ruins the slower pace. It doesn’t help that the levels were not modified to take them into account, leading to an already easy game, becoming [[GameBreaker even easier]] as a result and them to ultimately feel superfluous. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that some players just avoid using them altogether.

* AuthorsSavingThrow: The addition of Devilish Mode in the 3DS port was likely made in response to complaints regarding the original game being too easy and Kirby not being able to die like in other games.

Tastes Like Diabetes is no longer a trope. Moving examples to other tropes when applicable.

* TastesLikeDiabetes: The whole game, more so than the ''Kirby'' series is usually, with the art style and the cutscenes lovingly narrated by someone who sounds like he's reading a bedtime story to an infant, and the fact that the villain was a comparatively-silly yarn wizard with a magic sock.

* BrokenBase: The fact that Kirby is invincible unlike other entries tends to be divisive amongst fans. Some don't mind it and feels it adds to the game's slower and calm pace, with him losing gems when hit or falling into a pit being a good enough punishment. Others however, feel the lack of stakes beyond losing some gems makes the game a bit [[ItsEasySoItSucks too easy for its own good]]. The addition of Devilish Mode in ''Extra Epic Yarn'', which takes away Kirby's invincibility and replaces it with a 5-hit health bar, has mostly alleviated this.

None of the bosses in this game were deliberately designed to disturb or frighten the player; therefore none of them qualify for this trope.

* {{Woolseyism}}: Pretty much all of the non-visual jokes in the story cutscenes were invented by the localization team and aren't present in the Japanese script, effectively turning the narration into a GagDub despite the actual plot remaining the same. For example, the infamous "this grass feels like pants" line was originally just Kirby noticing that the entire world around him was made of yarn, as with his body.
