* ThatOneBoss: The FinalBoss, Miracle Matter for most, is strong for Final Boss standards. [[OhCrap For a]] ''[[EasyLevelsHardBosses Kirby game]].'' Particularly his bomb form, which fills the screen with painful bubbles, and his spark form, which attacks with ricocheting, screen-wrapping lasers. The worst part - copy abilites are damn near ''useless'' against this guy. Fire sword, cute Sith, rock mace - you have at best one-in-three chance of your given ability being functional, and are better off dodging, sucking, and spitting.

** Spark + Cutter gives you a [[DoubleWeapon double bladed lightsaber]]. What it lacks in the versatility of the fire sword, it makes up for in speed.

* NightmareRetardant: [[spoiler:When fighting the TrueFinalBoss, the vulnerable locations are its blood-red eye (the bleeds more when you shoot it), its halo of power, and... [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking its cactus-butt]].
* ThatOneBoss: The FinalBoss, Miracle Matter for most, is strong for Final Boss standards. [[OhCrap For a]] ''[[EasyLevelsHardBosses Kirby game]].'' Particularly his bomb form, which fills the screen with painful bubbles, and his spark form, which attacks with ricocheting, screen-wrapping lasers.

* GameBreaker: For the few useless powers, this game has a plethora of absolutely devastating powers that will allow you to mow through enemies and bosses with ease.

** Rock + Needle. It allows you to fire a drill, that destroys every enemy in its path (except invincible ones). Also, you can charge through people while holding on to it, making you an unstoppable projectile of doom. Also, it button mashed while in the air, and if a direction (horizontal) is held down, you can float insane distances, because activating the drill stops you from falling. Platforming and fighting help all in one.

* HellIsThatNoise: The second to the last level's theme, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=029GLL15qig Ripple Star Catacombs.]] Sure it's a bit creepy-sounding, but it doesn't sound so scary after you get used to it, right? Wrong. The simple chords won't let up, having to endure the same repetitive notes progressively assaults your ears until you're desperate to finish the level, if only to make it stop. This goes double for those playing for the first time, particularly for the target audience.

** Stage 6-2. '''''[[HellIsThatNoise The music.]]'''''

* ThatOneSidequest: The Crystal Shard in level 4-2 that requires you to carry the Dynamite powerup all the way to the end of the level (because nothing in 4-2 itself will give you that particular combination, and you can damage yourself with it) is widely regarded to be most annoying (or close to it) Shard in the game to get.

* VindicatedByHistory: This game was originally disliked for the same reason as its predecessor ''VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand3'': the mere fact that [[ToughActToFollow it]] [[MagnumOpus wasn't]] ''VideoGame/KirbySuperStar''. Now, it's enjoyed for giving Kirby an ImpliedLoveInterest, and, once again, being SurpriseCreepy. However, the Kirby series switched back to Super Star-style after that due to the initial poor reception of these two games. Many fans are eager to see another game like them.

* FridgeHorror: Shiver Star appears to be Earth (note the continents and moon), but it's completely covered in ice. And there are (man-made) robots who live in a (man-made) factory, but humans are nowhere to be seen...
** But why stop there? Is that real snow, [[TheTerminator or did something terrible...]]
** Maybe it's just the Earth during Winter season. This coupled with the fact there's a toy level strongly suggests it's Christmas time.
** Or Earth had a nuclear winter during regular winter and the robots have been maintaining the Holiday season ever since.

* {{Moe}}: The Fairy Queen, who is a {{Meganekko}}, {{Dojikko}}, CuteClumsyGirl, and combines it with a hefty dose of {{Adorkable}}. [[spoiler:In the bad ending she is a lot less cute, though...]]

Not only does it look like an unholy offspring of a fallen angel and a Boo from the ''Mario'' series, but it bleeds from its eye when you shoot it]].

* Ribbon. Brave, cute, [[IronWoobie never lets Dark Matter absorbing her homeworld slow her down,]] and staying cheerful throughout the adventure.

* ToyShip: Kirby and Ribbon get his treatment, what with their in-game {{Ship Tease}}s, the latter appearing to be a DistaffCounterpart of the former, them both defending their respective planets, and [[spoiler:even playing BattleCouple for the final boss.]]

* WastedSong: Miracle Matter's theme, coming after Ripple Star's theme, which was remixed and used multiple times later in the series, Ripple Star Catacombs, one of the darkest songs in the series, and [[spoiler: coming before Zero Two's theme, one of the most well known songs in the whole series.]] The song finally resurfaced in ''Kirby's Dream Collection'', where it was used as the theme for [[spoiler: Smash Challenge EX.]]
