** ''W Returns: Eternal'': [[MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate Dr. Prospect]]/[[BigBad Eyes Dopant]] is a man who kidnapped people from all over the world to make them into, in his own words, "lab rats" for his Quark Project by giving them PsychicPowers. When he arrives on the scene, every one of these people with psychic powers are utterly terrified of him, showing how horrifically he treated them. Even worse is his Heaven's Fall plan, which was so vile that Utopia Dopant [[EvenEvilHasStandards considered it a brutal act]]. Prospect would blast the area with an electric pulse and that would kill anyone that had not lived up to his standards for the project, referring to this as "cleaning out the test pool". When Daido foils his plan, it is revealed that was merciful compared to what happens if they try to escape him. The eyes he implanted on them to watch them are used to kill them when they leave his compound. Dr. Prospect then [[EvilLaugh laughs his head off]] at the fact he'd just slaughtered a village of innocent people while Katsumi is in shock over the massacre of the village he'd tried to save. His actions are so horrific that it [[DrivenToMadness drove]] [[spoiler:Katsumi]] insane.

** [[TheStarscream Shinkuro Isaka]]/[[SerialKiller Weather Dopant]] is a cold-hearted ally of The Museum obsessed with becoming the most powerful man alive. Originally a StrawNihilist, Isaka found meaning in life upon witnessing the [[BigBad Terror Dopant]] attacking a group of people, feeling not fear, but joy by the act. Obtaining a Gaia Memory, Isaka committed a series of murders just to test his abilities; invading Terui's home, Isaka froze his family, despite his father begging him not to hurt his wife and daughter, not wasting any opportunity to remind Terui of the incident [[KickTheDog to mock him]]. Using his position as a physician to distribute Gaia Memories, Isaka modifies them to kill their users so he can steal their powers. Wanting the Terror Memory for himself, Isaka tries to coerce Saeko into killing her own father. A disturbingly realistic portrayal of a psychopath, Isaka's mind was unaffected by the repeated use of Gaia Memories, showing how he didn't need an excuse to become a monster.

** [[MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate Doctor Shinkuro Isaka]], the [[ElementalPowers Weather Dopant]], killed Terui's family, modifies Gaia Memories to kill their users so that he can take their power for himself, and is able to use Gaia Memories via direct insertion without any ill effects (typically, repeated use of Gaia Memories via direct insertion warps the user's mind, which shows that Isaka didn't have far to fall). He then tries to get Saeko to kill her own father and take control of the Museum.

He then tries to get Saeko to kill her own father and take control of the Museum, but winds up getting HoistByHisOwnPetard when all of the Gaia Memories he absorbed essentially destroy him from within upon Memory Break.

** From ''W Returns: Eternal'', we have Dr. Prospect aka the Eyes Dopant. This man took people from all over the world (their words implying they were kidnapped) to make them into, in his own words, "lab rats" for his Quark Project, giving them psychic powers. The fact that, when he arrives on the scene, every one these people with awesome PsychicPowers is ''quaking in fear of him'' shows how horrifically he must have treated them. That is ''nothing'' compared to his Heaven's Fall plan. This is a plan so horrible that the previously mentioned Utopia Dopant [[EvenEvilHasStandards considered it a brutal act!]] [[spoiler:He would blast the area with an electric pulse, killing anyone that has not lived up to his standards for the project, referring to it as "cleaning out the test pool".]] When Daido ruins that plan, he reveals that was merciful compared to what happens if they try to escape. [[spoiler:The eyes he implanted on them to watch them kill them when they leave his compound. As Katsumi is in shock over the slaughter of the village he'd tried to save, Dr. Prospect [[EvilLaugh is laughing his head off]] at the fact he'd just slaughtered a village of innocent people. His actions are so horrific that it [[DrivenToMadness drives Katsumi insane,]] a fact that serves as a valid FreudianExcuse for Katsumi's actions in the A-Z movie.]]

* JustForFun/XMeetsY: It's a toku meets cyberpunk meets film noir, with the idealism bumped up.

* TheWoobie: Akiko, ''especially'' after she finds out why her father could never see her again in ''Core''.

** It's interesting to note that with Akiko using the Frog Pod to fake Ryu's voice, we essentially have [[Manga/KeroroGunsou a woman sounding like a man by way of a frog.]]

*** He gets defeated again in a spin-off movie, though this time it's because his opponent is DeadToBeginWith and thus has no emotions to draw power from.

** Given the PlayedForLaughs HeroicBSOD Akiko had when she realized [[DisguisedInDrag how convincing Philip looked as a girl]], one can only wonder how much the LiveActionAdaptation of ''Manga/PrincessJellyfish'' (which also features a crossdressing Suda Masaki) would break her.

* ViewerGenderConfusion: Philip. His feminine dress sense and that his actor is quite [[{{Bishounen}} pretty]]. [[WholesomeCrossdresser Episode 24 didn't help either.]]

* BaseBreaker: The fandom's general opinion of Akiko earlier in the series. Very few people in the fandom took the middle ground, but both sides mellowed out over time.

** Count in the battle between the red-themed Arms Dopant [[note]]see HeyItsThatGuy section on the main page[[/note]] and the white-and-black colored '''Fang Joker'''. Then remember a [[Series/BakuryuuSentaiAbaranger battle between two similar-colored warriors with the alignments inverted]].

* MoodWhiplash: Made the previous reigning king of this in the franchise, ''Series/KamenRiderKabuto'', look like an amateur effort. One example is how there would be serious scenes of Shotaro brooding over his mentor's death sandwiched between scenes of Akiko running around acting like a LooneyTunes character high on crystal meth.

* UnfortunateImplications: Jimmy's "[[HollywoodToneDeaf singing]]" style, spilk (''supikku''), sounds like a certain ethnic slur for Hispanics.

** And his singing is almost as offensive as racism.

** Shotaro's fashion choice might turn off some Western fans, due to the infamous "fedora stigma" in the west recently.[[note]]Fedora-wearers are a rough equivalent of Japanese {{Otaku}} regardless of hobbies there[[/note]] Said stigma is not common to Japan, fortunately.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotSymbolic: Accel's jacket carries the slogan "Spiritual state of nothingness makes even itself fire cool", which is paraphrased from a Buddhist philosophy.

* ValuesDissonance: Some western fans deride Kirihiko as a HenpeckedHusband because he is deferential to Saeko, took her name after their marriage and has been physically abused by her on at least one occasion, along with the implication that it wasn't the first time. A Japanese audience would be less inclined to see him as weak, since their society emphasises reverence towards social superiors and loyalty to one's employer.
** Hell, you don't have to be an expert on Japanese culture to see it working this way. Saeko is ''the BigBad's daughter,'' and Kirihiko is just a good Memory salesman. If Darth Vader had a daughter he actually liked and doted on and a ''pretty decent officer'' (sorta guy Vader won't hesitate to strangle) married her, if the officer thought he'd be her equal, he's TooDumbToLive. If you're brave enough, it's still quite a desirable position - fifth-highest member of the organization. And if he hadn't acted respectful, there is no way he would have had a chance of getting that high in the first place.

* FanDumb: There's a lot of hate going around for '''Accel Trial''', calling him a rip-off of [[Series/KamenRiderFaiz Faiz Accel]] just because both have speed-based powers and have similar names. Never mind that they're all Kamen Riders anyway, or that it's obviously not uncommon for more than one rider to have similar powers, and that there are significant differences between the two.
** Oddly, you don't hear this about [[Series/KamenRiderKabuto Kabuto]]. He's another red, silver, and black [[TheHero protagonist]] Rider with armor in the exact same places, headlight eyes, and a speed-up power that's basically taking Faiz's gimmick further.
*** Possibly because in [[Series/KamenRiderKabuto Kabuto]], ''everyone'' had SuperSpeed.
** Quite a number of more jaded fans dismiss Accel's Bike Form as obviously MerchandiseDriven, RuleOfCool aside.
* FetishFuel:
** One can argue that the second part of "The L on the Lips" is close to becoming the series' [[FetishFuelStationAttendant outstanding source of kink]]. The episode included [[{{Bifauxnen}} Akiko appearing as a convincing young man]] and [[UnsettlingGenderReveal Philip dressing up as Wakana]], Isaka PlayingDoctor with Saeko, [[HoYay Shotaro chasing Jimmy across a beach, and Double riding Accel]]. The beach scene even got {{Lampshaded}} in Shotaro's PrivateEyeMonologue. Riku Sanjo either has interesting tastes or thinks the viewers do. Even TV-Nihon did not let it pass without [[http://capcam.blip.tv/file/3307351/ a commentary at the end of their sub]].
