Not the trope, also no evidence pointing to it being hentai.

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: Mark shows Juno what appears to be hentai, featuring a pregnant girl. [[UnfortunateImplications Um...]]

** That also depends on whether you actually found it 'wacky'. Juno clearly has a cynical sense of humour built in, but it's difficult to tell exactly how much of it is a coping mechanism for what she's going through. Also, is the film actually that wacky? Juno and her friend are slightly odd, but given where the film ends, I found it quite honest; We can hope that Juno will be alright, but we're never going to know if she's truly okay with the decision she made.

** It really depends on how you interpret all the stuff with them talking about 'cold feet' before, which initially seems to be something suggested about another surrogate the couple were dealing with, but could also suggest Mark did this before. He also backs out using some of the oldest excuses in the book, talking about how he didn't expect a response so quickly. At the end of the day, though, the relationship between Mark and Vanessa is meant to be a parallel to Juno and Paulie. IE, Vanessa would never accept Mark's rockstar aspirations and 'childishness' and he would never entirely gel with her neat and orderly life, and might never be ready to be a father. Juno and Paulie, on the other hand, clearly argue, but Paulie still clearly thinks 'the sun shines out of her ass', as her dad puts it.

These seem like a major case of Ron The Death Eater. Basically, Mark is a less sympathetic than he initially seems and the opposite is true of Vanessa. Neither they or any of the other characters are particularly awful people (I\'d say most of the characters, Vanessa included, are pretty decent people).

** Likewise is Vanessa really just a tragic woman who wants to be a mother or really a SmugSnake who quashes her husband's wishes for her own desires and [[spoiler: [[KarmaHoudini gets off scot free with Juno's baby?]]]]

* DarknessInducedAudienceApathy: Let's face it, ''EVERYONE'' in the film is, at the least, a horribly selfish prick with little to no redeeming or likeable qualities. [[spoiler: One slimeball, Vanessa, gets Juno's kid.]]

**** It doesn't change the fact that Vanessa, according to FridgeHorror, could potentially abuse the ''fuck'' out of [[spoiler: Juno's son.]]

* FridgeHorror: If Vanessa's behavior throughout the movie is any indication of what kind of mother she'll be... *shudder*

* JerkSue: '''VANESSA'''. The story constantly portrays her as a {{Woobie}}, but she's arrogant, scummy, and downright unpleasant, almost a SmugSnake.

** As pointed out it kinda fails on the "scare" part
* TearJerker: [[spoiler: Juno giving her baby up to Vanessa]] is sure to have you going for the bottle.

** Mark and Juno in general. More than one viewer might have thought this movie was about to take a turn into ''much creepier'' adulterous MayDecemberRomance territory with the way Mark kept being so friendly to Juno and the way she kept spending time alone with him, but no, that's not what happens.

** A common complaint from news channel pundits and media commentators was that the film not only promoted the idea that a teenage pregnancy is a blast, but that if it's realized that it would be too difficult to raise a child while the mother is at such a young age, a baby can be swiftly adopted by more mature people who have the financial security and free time to raise a child--not exactly a realistic scenario for most young girls with unplanned pregnancies. Diablo Cody defended the film, pointing out that it would be a much shorter story if Juno had gone ahead with the abortion.

* DidNotDoTheResearch: Apparently, it's not a good idea to drink lots of extra fluids before you take a pregnancy test, since this can dilute the urine to a point where the results will be unreliable. It's why a lot of tests require you to take it first thing in the morning after you wake up, since the urine will be more concentrated.
** This doesn't really fall under the trope, because it was the ''character's'' choice to do this.
