* LoveItOrHateIt: Less the movie so much as the dialogue. Its quirkiness is either a huge part of its charm or deeply obnoxious.

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Several.

** Likewise, critics have interpreted the film of being covertly right-wing; the actions of most of the characters (barring Mark) never fall outside of the framework of conservative American values, such as the importance of personal responsibility, hard work, and family.

Added DiffLines:

* HarsherInHindsight: With the economic recession of 2008 occurring just a year after the film's release, the future of Juno's son in Vanessa's hands can be seen as particularly bleak. In addition, with the increased cynicism in UsefulNotes/TheNewTens towards ThePowerOfLove, family, and human nature in general, a character like Vanessa would be seen as a WideEyedIdealist at best.

* EsotericHappyEnding: One of most contentious examples in recent years; more than a few people have [[AbusiveParents very]] [[ParentalNeglect dark]] [[MyBelovedSmother interpretations]] of where Vanessa's relationship with Juno's son might lead. Though Vanessa is painted in a sympathetic light for her desire for motherhood, many viewers have expressed doubt if she's really up to the task, seeing her faults as a character and her treatment of Mark as rather ominous indicators.

* For what it's worth, delivering a baby causes a HUGE hormone crash. Even terminating or losing a pregnancy fairly early on can cause some hormonal reaction, so 40 weeks of extra estrogen (and everything else) build-up to end fairly suddenly, well... talk to any woman who has given birth in the last few days and they'll probably start crying at some point. Add in the fact that Juno is 16 years old and relatively unprepared for what's about to befall her. While the scene with Juno is fairly heartbreaking, it's probably less about the whole situation and more just a very, very realistic depiction of postpartum reaction.

* HilariousInHindsight: After Ellen Page came out, it is ironic that Juno suggested giving the baby to "a couple of nice lesbos" or commenting that she thinks the name Madison is "kinda gay".

** Vanessa could count, depending on your point of view. Though the movie presents her in a positive light, many audience members found her character traits and behavior off-putting.
