Added DiffLines:

* AwardSnub: Easily the most infamous inversion - ''no one'' expected them to win the 1989 "Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Vocal or Instrumental" Grammy award, with many expecting ''Music/{{Metallica}}'', who were arguably the biggest reason for the category's creation, to win the award - Jethro Tull themselves included, since they didn't even go to the ceremony. However, for whatever reason, Jethro Tull ''won'', which not only caused the audience to boo, but led to the category being split between Hard Rock and Heavy Metal in all future awards.

* BetterThanCanon: The version of ''Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll: Too Young to Die!'' that was recorded for the TV special is generally regarded as being better than the original album, especially after Steven Wilson remixed it.

** ''A Passion Play'' has quite a few, but probably none more than the main riff from "Magus Perdé" (which starts at around forty minutes into the album).

** Their later output isn't remembered quite as fondly, but it's still great, and includes such albums as ''Crest of a Knave''.

*** ''Crest of a Knave'', ''Rock Island'', and ''Catfish Rising''. The fact that, twenty years after their debut, they manage to put out three top-notch albums in a row, really says something about their staying power.

* SweetDreamsFuel: A surprising number of songs could qualify as this, including "Nursie", "Fire At Midnight", "One Brown Mouse" and "Moths". Most of the Christmas album as well.

* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: Obviously ''Aqualung'' and ''Thick As A Brick'', also ''A Passion Play'' and ''Songs From The Wood''.
** ''Heavy Horses'' and ''Broadsword and the Beast'', and that's not even getting into individual songs.

** You've also got the mighty riff of "Minstel in the Gallery".
* EveryoneIsJesusInPurgatory: Justified in a lot of songs (such as "A Passion Play") but also overdone in others. "Thick as a Brick" is basically [[{{Troll}} trolling]] people on the subject.
