* CriticalDissonance: This game caters heavily towards otaku who love other Nippon Ichi games. Almost everyone outside of that group (including reviewers) hated it. There's a whopping 40 point difference between its [[http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-3/hyperdimension-neptunia professional and user reviews on Metacritic]]. No reviewer gave it a positive review. No user gave it a negative review.

Added DiffLines:

* GameBreaker: ''5pb on Stage'', 5pb.'s strongest technique, which [[MagicMusic heals the entire party completely]]. Offset by the fact that it costs so much AP that she most likely won't be able to do anything else on her turn, but having her use this repeatedly basically makes you immortal.

* FunnyAneurysmMoment: This game was released in Japan back in August and it was advertising that the premise of the game was that Neptune and the gang were fighting against piracy. A few months later, someone successfully hacked the PlayStation3, but Sony fought off against it and sued the company for making the one thing that can hack the machine.
** With the April 2011 hacking of the PlayStationNetwork, you can be sure this game inspired the hackers.

* AntiClimaxBoss: Arfoire's true form is underwhelming-looking, but still very dangerous.

* AwesomeMusic:
** The opening theme "Ryuusei no Bifrost".
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYcIkkjL7E0 Leanbox's theme]], [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin theme of...well, Leanbox.]]
** The song that plays during one of the trailers and during the credits, [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fyHtuPxOus Koi Wo Game Ni Shinaide!]], is quite catchy.

* HilariousInHindsight: Neptune's cry of "I'mma break it!" whenever she uses Hammer Crash calls to mind the eponymous Film/WreckItRalph's CatchPhrase of "I'M GONNA WRECK IT!"

* [[AlternateCharacterInterpretation Alternate Console Interpretation]]: Would you really have imagined the XBox360 goddess as a sleepy slacker, the {{Wii}} goddess as a grouchy flat-chested girl who [[SirSwearsalot swears like a sailor]], or the {{PS3}} as a {{Tsundere}}?

* BadBadActing: The English voice cast. Applies to the rest of the franchise as well.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: Most of the scenes that reference other video game series are this.

** Remixed in ''Victory'' where it's ''[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-k-qtu2depk even more catchier]]''.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Japan apparently loves Black Heart. To the point that ''she gets her own game''. And is it any wonder? She encompasses more {{Moe}} characteristics in her character than any of the other girls[[note]]All of them have some typical {{Moe}} characteristics, but Noire/Black Heart seems to have be purposely designed to set off the more popular ones[[/note]] ''and'' she's the CPU that represents the Playstation3, the console that the franchise itself is exclusive to.
** Acknowledged in ''Victory'', much to Neptune's shock.

* FirstInstallmentWins: Averted. The first installment is the one most people usually hate, due to the various problems it had.

* IAmNotShazam: Neptun'''e''', not Neptun'''ia'''.
* JustHereForGodzilla: Most if not every person that buys this game only plays this game for the girls.

* MoeMoe: EVERY playable character.

* UnfortunateImplications: White Heart is the only goddess with a flat chest, considering Nintendo games/consoles are often derided for being "kiddy."
