** The plot of the story has North Korea becoming more aggressive after Kim Jong-Un takes power. Given that recently, the North Koreans stepped up their aggressive rhetoric, going so far as to release ([[SoBadItsGood laughably]]) bad propaganda movies...

According to reports, John Milius didn\'t actually write the script.

** Which is probably why John wrote the survivalists also doing equally bad things to Asian-Americans and trying to do the same to your ActionGirl sidekick plus...well... ''you.''

On the other hand, there are mitigating factors. The United States (as well as other major world powers) had been weakened by a global economic crisis. In the case of the U.S., the situation was so bad that the states were given autonomy and were just a few steps away from civil war. The Asian Bird Flu epidemic only made things worse. One in-game newspaper article notes that when Canada closed its borders to the U.S. (thus requiring a visa to enter), there were also new laws requiring permits for food, materials, medicine, and other supplies. The implication is that a lot of people were trying to leave the country--and this is all before the GKR fried almost every non-hardened piece of electronic hardware in North America with an EMP.
** But turning a dirt poor Soviet Nation into a modern powerhouse nation in just a year is impossible. It would have been more realistic had it been decades. As it stands now North Korea is surrounded by nations that could wipe them off the Earth in a heartbeat. But, even a severely weakened US would still have enough power to atomize North Korea.
*** Even more so with the implied that most of the Korea forces are form the South, meaning he was somehow able to brainwash them the same time even though it took decades to do so in the north and that the US are one of South Korea's longest allies.
** To put this in perspective, North Korea has a population of about 25 million, that's 10 million less than CANADA! It also has a way weaker economy and tech base than Canada does. Canada is also right on the border with the United States, as opposed to North Korea, which is on the other side of a very big ocean patrolled by the very big American fleet. If you think this is a plausible scenario then I'd say it's the canucks you should be worried about not the Koreans.

* VillainSue: Kim Jong-Un. On one hand, he manages to take a backwater, underdeveloped pariah of a nation and uses it to gain control of South Korean (presumably in a sufficiently subversive, non-violent manner that he credibly gets the Nobel Peace Prize for doing so), takes over several major neighboring nations, and build up the Korean army to the point that it's able to successfully take over the United States. On the surface, this looks like [[TheDraka Draka]]-level hypercompetency. And he does this in one year.\\

One in-game newspaper article notes that when Canada closed its borders to the U.S. (thus requiring a visa to enter), there were also new laws requiring permits for food, materials, medicine, and other supplies. The implication is that a lot of people were trying to leave the country--and this is all before the GKR fried almost every non-hardened piece of electronic hardware in North America with an EMP.EMP.
*** Still doesn't take into account the fact that a)the whole world '''except''' North is going to hell despite the fact that logically they should be struggling just as much as everyone else b) South Korea just rolls over and "peacefully" merges with a nation that in real life they are constantly taking a harder line with and are super paranoid about c) Kim Jong-Un is impossibly skilled at wresting control over his own government away from his generals who will all most certainly try to maintain the status quo and would never concede to the types of changes he brings about d) Japan is pushed aside despite the fact that a more powerful (and possibly belligerent) North Korea is something out of their worst nightmares and if the U.S. pulls out of the East Asia region, Japan and other surrounding countries will almost certainly resort to militarism to protect themselves. e) the other major powers in East Asia, Russia and China, which quite frankly make more logical targets for Korean aggression than the the far away United States, are rarely if ever mentioned, and also seem to role over as North Korea seems to conquer East Asia despite that being their neighborhood and primary sphere of influence. f) THERE IS NO LOGICAL REGION FOR NORTH KOREA TO INVADE THE U.S., something that would be a strategic disaster for such a small nation, along with being improbable, unfeasible, and just down right unbelievable. They would gain nothing against a powerful and determined American defense, which they would undoubtedly meet.
