** The relationship trauma Raynare caused to Issei is a major theme that Issei has to overcome in volume 10. However, despite being one of the most loved volumes amongst fans, it ''can'' come off feeling suddenly out-of-nowhere as there was absolutely no {{Foreshadowing}} in the prior volumes to show that Issei had been suffering in this regard. The anime actually sets this up better by [[{{Foreshadowing}} showing glimpses of the trauma]]
** Actually the trauma Raynare caused to Issei pops up in vol 4 of the light novel.
[[AdaptationExpansion at the start of the third season]], which was only just starting up the volume 5 content at that point.

* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: Those that read the light novels seem to be having this reaction to the third season of the anime. The order of events has been switched around, details like the charge-up period and time limit of Issei's balance breaker when he can use it at will have been glossed over, and content that only occurs in the anime seem to be the three big offenders for them. While some seem agree that things like the fine details of Issei's balance breaker probably need to be swept under the rug for the sake of the anime's pacing, the anime only content has them up the wall since the light novels have more than enough story in them to last another three to five seasons easily. They basically decry the anime only content as excuses for more fanservice in a series already overflowing to the brim with it. [[spoiler:Luckily, Issei's kids come back from the future in the ''EX'' spin-off novels before the timeline could be altered even further. Good thing they [[ResetButton fixed up the anime continuity to match that of the light novels]], or else we would have had a timeline where Loki would have won.]] Ishibumi and TNK also admitted that after the third season, they decided to remain faithful to the light novel series.

** Rias also gets this, due to people exaggerating her Selfishness from early on in the series, completely missing the point that as a devil, regardless of how kindhearted they could be, are still inherently selfish to a fault, with Rias not being the only devil that's portrayed as this despite good intentions.

** The Heaven characters in general have also been greatly underutilized when it comes to the overall story. Apart from Irina, who's part of Issei's harem, Heavens's Angel characters only make rare appearances from time to time, and Heaven as a location only gets it's [[ADayInTheLimelight day in the limelight]] as the setting for Volume 18.
