** "Miley Hurt The Feelings of the Radio Star" has Miley suffering a psychotic break due to the stress of juggling her celebrity and non-celebrity lives. The episode plays this moment for laughs but it can seem a lot less funny for those who are aware of what the stress of being a celebrity can do to teens, with Miley Cyrus herself being a prime example.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Jackson's friend Cooper is only shown in a grand total of six episodes and rarely even mentioned after that. He seems to have served as the StraightMan of the two and would have been perfect as the voice of reason for Jackson. Not to mention he was shown to have some interesting HiddenDepths (like baking) that would have been nice to explore had he appeared in the series more often.
* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: In a way, as the show deals with a pop star coming to fame in the late 2000's, it has elements of being this. Plenty of pop culture references in the jokes and plot lines, from Jesse [=McCartney=] to Music/KellyClarkson to Music/LadyGaga to Music/KatyPerry, a few ''Series/AmericanIdol'' references, the second War in Iraq (as covered in Season 4), a UsefulNotes/BarackObama {{Expy}} also in the final season, maybe even the [[IdolSinger Teen Pop]] aspect in general---help to put the show in a specific time and place.
* TheWoobie: Jackson counts. Despite his father being rich, he is reduced to a demeaning job for Rico, who tortures and humiliates him at every turn. In one episode where he becomes amnesiac, Miley tricks him into becoming her slave. In another episode, she completely humiliates him at a party for supposedly spreading a rumor about her, despite having no actual proof.[[note]] This is especially cruel considering how she refused to humiliate other people in previous instances -- such as Amber, who would have deserved it.[[/note]] Even Uncle Earl, usually the ButtMonkey himself, said Jackson was an embarrassment to the family for the way he was dressed (like Music/OzzyOsbourne), when he was only wearing a costume to help Miley.

** "It's My Party and I'll Lie if I Want To" has Miley trying to hide the fact that she went to a party as Hannah without Lily by hiding newspapers that show her leaving the party. Such a method would be impractical in real life and Lily does in fact find out about Miley going to the party later. However, the pervasiveness of social media and the speed at which celebrity news spreads in modern times would have made it impossible for Miley to ever keep this secret from Lily for longer than 24 hours.

* FriendshipWritingFumble: Miley and Lilly are just supposed to be best friends, but most fans think they have more chemistry together than with their actual love interests. Their relationship is filled with LesYay, and is often given a lot more focus than their romantic ones. In the first episode, Miley's afraid to tell Lilly she is Hannah, in a way that resembles someone being afraid to tell their childhood crush they like them. The Movie also gives a lot more focus and weight to their fight than to that of Miley with the BoyOfTheWeek, Travis. Lilly eventually gets with Oliver, but the show makes it clear that Miley is her most important relationship, and she chooses to help Miley over Oliver multiple times. When the two do fight it comes off to many fans like an old married couple. There's a good reason most fanfiction about the show interpret them as already dating.

** In the Season 3 finale, Miley's primary reason for staying in California was she didn't want to leave Lilly. Lilly seemed utterly devastated when she thought both of her best friends are leaving, yet seems only mildly upset when she learns that Miley is staying, but Oliver is still leaving.

** Miley and Mikayla are supposedly rivals, but their dynamic comes off more like BelligerentSexualTension to a lot of fans. Meanwhile despite not getting along with Hannah, Mikayla seems to adore Miley, and acts more affectionate towards her than towards her actual crush, Jake. Mikayla also hates Lilly and acts like a girl jealous of someone else being close to her crush.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: While the episode You're So Sue-able To Me does paint Miley in a bad light with her going overboard with getting Lilly to behave more "girlier", the real unsympathetic one in this episode is Matt, Lilly's crush she wanted to go to the dance with. When faced at Teen Court, he said he changed his mind about going to the dance with Lilly because she changed everything about herself (after being persuaded by Miley). While Miley isn't really sympathetic in this episode and she did get her punishment for unintentionally having a hand in Matt dumping Lilly (in the form of a bunch of spaghetti poured on her), it doesn't change the fact that what Matt did was completely immature and uncalled for. He stood Lilly up on the night of the dance with no explanation, which is a really nasty thing to do, and if he had a problem with Lilly's change in behavior and outfit choices, he should have had said something to her in person rather than ditching her. It's probably for the best that he wasn't seen in any other episodes after this one.

* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: In a way, as the show deals with a pop star coming to fame in the late 2000's, this show has elements of this.

*UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: While the episode You're So Sue-able To Me does paint Miley in a bad light with her going overboard with getting Lilly to behave more "girlier", the real unsympathetic one in this episode is Matt, Lilly's crush she wanted to go to the dance with.

* CreatorsPet: After being a side character during the first season, Rico gained intelligence, money, and sudden character importance that just came from nowhere.
* CriticProof: The whole series was panned by critics, but provided to be a success among 12 - 16 year old girls, and made billions through merchandise and concerts. It almost always won awards from the Teen Choice Awards, and only lost a few in 2009 to either ''Literature/{{Twilight}}'' or ''Film/HighSchoolMusical 3''. TheMovie even made $160 million, despite a low Rotten Tomatoes score and two [[UsefulNotes/GoldenRaspberryAward Razzie nominations]].

* InformedWrongness: One episode (as a crossover with ''Series/CoryInTheHouse'', which Disney liked doing at the time) involved Hannah's bodyguard Roxie quitting and going to work at the White House because Miley called her out for interfering in a date that she went on (inviting herself along, constantly being the MomentKiller, and making her date ''wear a bell'' so that she knew when he was trying to put the moves on Miley) and yet the plot of the episode involves Miley sneaking into the White House to apologize and try to get Roxie to come and work for her again, when Roxie was completely unapologetic about attempting to control Miley's love life.

* TheWoobie: Jackson counts. Despite his father being rich, he is reduced to a demeaning job for Rico, who tortures and humiliates him at every turn. Robbie spoils Miley shamelessly even as he castigates Jackson for the smallest offense. Miley is [[UnsympatheticComedyProtagonist a complete brat to him, firing off insults every chance she gets]], meaning almost every time they're in the same room. In one episode where he becomes amnesiac, Miley tricks him into becoming her slave. In another episode, she completely humiliates him at a party for supposedly spreading a rumor about her, despite having no actual proof.[[note]] This is especially cruel considering how she refused to humiliate other people in previous instances -- such as Amber, who would have deserved it, and complete strangers like The Rock, because he was a celebrity.[[/note]] Even Uncle Earl, usually the ButtMonkey himself, said Jackson was an embarrassment to the family for the way he was dressed, when he was only wearing a costume to help Miley.
