So here, it is very likely already committed other killings or beatings before the movie. Worse still, can you imagine how he must have been in school?

* CompleteMonster: Tommy De Vito. Jimmy is the BigBad, right? but the character most likely to be a CompleteMonster is Tommy. Just look at his twisted sense of humor. He brutally killed Billy Batts (a Mafia member, and also a ''friend of Tommy''), hit him with his gun in his face and then stabbed him with a knife. And why? [[DisproportionateRetribution Just because he remembered his old job as a shineboots,]] and what makes the beating of Billy Batts even more disturbing is the fact that Tommy wanted to continue the beating, [[FridgeHorror even when Jimmy stopped him.]] While it seems to have a good relationship with his mother, [[FauxAffablyEvil this only seems to be a falsehood to deceive the kind of person that really is.]] But the point that really makes him a hopeless man is the cruel treatment to Spider (a 19-ish year old boy), shooting him in the foot with a sadistic glee, then he ruthlessly kill him, what he does? he just laughs. He's really a kind of fear even to his own partners (as given to notice in the "funny guy" scene), because they know that any phrase or word misunderstood by Tommy can easily lead to tragedy.

While at the beginning of the film, he seems to be AffablyEvil, BUT subsequent events show that really [[FauxAffablyEvil is the opposite.]] He's really an arrogant, paranoid and greedy bastard who just wants money for himself. He crosses the MoralEventHorizon when he has his conspirators in the heist murdered rather than share money with them. He has not qualms about killing, in fact, he even helped Tommy to beat Billy Bats. He also underwent a man about to be eaten by a lion. At least Tommy has "excuses" for its atrocities, while Jimmy is an associate in the mafia just ForTheEvulz.

* LoveToHate: Interestingly, of all the characters, Tommy is the most memorable of the entire film, he has a lot of fans.

A scene that describes his psychotic personality is when, at a dinner with his mother, she teaches him a painting and he answered, "Why are the two dogs look out for one side?". It seems he can never see things from a standard prism, his twisted personality makes him see strange things, ''even in an innocent painting''. He is the exact opposite of Luca Brasi in The Godfather, who is represented almost inhuman and emotionless, Tommy is incredibly alive.
