** Also snubbed was Thelma Schoonmaker for Best Editing. The fast-pace editing of ''Goodfellas'' was controversial at the time but in hindsight it's considered one of the most expertly edited films of the last 30 years.

* CompleteMonster: Tommy. He excels in the film as the most insane and sadistic mobster. His series of crimes throughout the film, are unparalleled and gets several KickTheDog moments. In fact, he goes so far that kills a mafia member, simply because he remembered his old trade of bootblack. Not surprisingly, only because of the ease with which anyone kills, but also by how merciless with their victims. He is really a kind of fear even for their own partners, who know that a word misunderstood by the sadistic criminal can lead to tragedy. A scene that describes his psychotic personality is when, at a dinner with his mother, she teaches him a painting and he answered, "Why are the two dogs look out for one side?". It seems he can never see things from a standard prism, his twisted personality makes him see strange things, ''even in an innocent painting''. He is the exact opposite of Luca Brasi in The Godfather, who is represented almost inhuman and emotionless, Tommy is incredibly alive.
