* DesignatedHero: The humans could've avoided the plot of the film if they didn't take Baby Godzilla which drives Godzilla and Rodan to go get him, so a lot of the destruction that happened was from their own doing. Not to mention they thought it was a good idea to use Baby Godzilla as bait to lure in Godzilla to kill him which caused Miki to be appalled and start caring about Godzilla later on.

Professor Mazaki in ''Film/GodzillaVsKingGhidorah'' even theorizes that dinosaurs still live in the modern day in undiscovered pockets of the world. Two Godzillasaurus individuals have been found alive within 50 years, the Godzillasaurus in 1945 and Baby Godzilla in 1993, the latter being alongside a dead Pteranodon skeleton and Rodan, a mutated Pteranodon. Speculating that the dinosaurs could retake the world in a few million years seems like a real possibility, especially when they're turning into radioactive monsters.

%%* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Dr. Gojo adopting Baby Godzilla is meant to be heartwarming, but on-screen she is also shown feeding him nothing but plants and junk food, making the infant monster's heavy-lidded expression come off as if he's just weak from malnutrition. This in mind, the moment where it sadly tugs at her coat at the end could be seen as him trying to ''eat'' her but being too weak. %%He made no effort to bite her, cried when she sent him away, and had the strength to swim across the ocean with Godzilla. Plus the film spelled out he's a herbivorous species. This could be put in as a joke interpretation, but Alt character interpretation can't ignore what the film does

* ShaggyDogStory: None of the human characters in the film accomplish much of anything, except accidentally making things worse. Bringing the Baby Godzilla egg to Japan results in nothing but massive destruction, and ultimately Mechagodzilla is destroyed, with Godzilla just leaving on his own with the baby.
** Arguably averted, as Baby Godzilla's bonding with the humans definitely leads to him being a friend to humanity, and quite possibly, making Godzilla far less hostile to human society by extension.

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Ohrai Noriyoshi's [[CombiningMecha design]] for Mechagodzilla on one of the posters. So much so that it was made into a real toy. By extension, [[TankGoodness Naga, Gundalva]] & [[CoolPlane Garuda]] qualify as dark horses too. It was also the design used as the basis for Mechagodzilla in the film ''Film/ReadyPlayerOne''.

* UglyCute: [=BabyGodzilla=], though some might argue he's just plain cute.

* {{Narm}}: as is traditional for the Heisei films, the delivery for most of the English language dialogue in this movie is ''hilarious.'' Special mention must be made of Shelley Sweeney's very [[Creator/WilliamShatner Shatner-esque]] line "Yeah, LIFE against...artificial...''life''."
