* BrokenBase:BrokenBase: ''Genshin Impact'' has proven itself to be one of the most influential and the most ''controversial'' game ever, in part largely due to it's popularity. In fact, it gotten even more divisive as time went on.

** Despite both being made by the same company, ''Genshin Impact'' and ''VideoGame/HonkaiStarRail'' have been frequently compared negatively to each other. A significant portion of ''Genshin's'' playerbase despises ''Star Rail'' due to the latter receiving many requested features, generous rewards, and [=QoL=] improvements in less than ''8 months'' since launch, with ''Genshin'' players bemoaning that ''Star Rail'' has taken [=HoYoverse=]'s attention and prevented ''Genshin'' from receiving similar treatment. Ironically enough, many ''Star Rail'' players are consisted of dissatisfied ''Genshin'' players who have become fed up with the game and its unaddressed flaws, lackluster rewards, and lack of permanent endgame content. It grew further heated when ''Star Rail'' announced that the limited 5★ character Dr. Ratio would be given out for free at the start of his initial banner until the end of Version 2.1. honestly none of this even relates directly to navia and is moreso about her role in the quest. similar points on the wiki have been moved from base breaking character

%% Navia was hyped up on release, but ended up being initially somewhat mixed within the fandom due to the way the Archon Quest manages her role, with Act II [[ADayInTheLimelight focusing on her]] and the disappearance of her father. While a great portion of the fandom still adores her for her [[NiceGirl kindness]], prominent CharacterDevelopment and her excellent voice acting in all languages, some others felt Act II to be [[SpotlightStealingSquad too focused on her]] to the point of being drawn-out, even drawing comparisons to a built-in Story Quest within the Archon Quest, to say nothing of her prominence in Act V ''and'' her actual Story Quest.

Added DiffLines:

%% Although Navia is a very well-liked character for her [[NiceGirl kindness]], prominent CharacterDevelopment, and excellent voice acting in all languages, her prominence in the Fontaine Archon Quest has garnered a mixed reception. Some felt Act II was [[SpotlightStealingSquad too focused on her]] to the point of effectively being a Story Quest about her missing father, to say nothing of her prominence in Act V ''and'' her actual Story Quest, while others were not bothered by it and feel her story is very well-integrated into the plot.

** In the v2.3 "Shadows Admist Snowstorms" event, [[spoiler:Albedo impales his imposter clean through his body with his sword]] in what has remained the game's most graphically violent cutscene even years after it has become unavailable. Afterwards, [[spoiler:the Traveler notices with alarm that Albedo's distinctive star-shaped pontil mark isn't on the "Albedo" that they are talking to...only for him to smirk at them as he briefly covers and uncovers his neck with his hand, revealing his mark as if it has been there all along]].

It's been nine months since Fontaine was first released. I feel like Furina counts towards being Rescued From The Scrappy Heap.

Added DiffLines:

** Furina was at first divisive due to her bratty attitude. However, the end of the Fontaine quest changed the opinion of many of her former detractors by revealing how much of an IronWoobie she was.

As per the Base Breaking Character cleanup thread, both Nilou and Navia were found not to be examples of this trope.

** You'd be hard pressed to find someone that ''hates'' Nilou, but nevertheless the fandom is very conflicted about her. Those who like her enjoy her cute design, her being a well-adjusted NiceGirl, and the fact that her dance is based off of a traditional Persian dance, drawing in those who feel art is often overlooked and understudied, ''especially'' when she's placed in a culture that encourages rationality without compassion or empathy, finding her emotional intelligence to be a breath of fresh air. However, she catches a lot of flak from those who prefer the darker sides of Teyvat's story, finding her to be little more than boring {{Fanservice}} whose character extends little beyond being a dancer and styling herself after the Goddess of Flowers, with many fans feeling her role could have been filled by any generic NPC. Her being a 5★ character is also divisive, and for many of the same reasons: some feel she doesn't deserve it as most 5★ and even several 4★ characters have complex character arcs and backstories she doesn't, and the 5★ characters that don't, namely Hu Tao and Yoimiya, more than make up for it with their HiddenDepths, while others argue that not every single character in the game has to be deep and dark, and the more art-focused Nilou is a very welcome exception to this so called "rule".

* OnlyTheAuthorCanSaveThemNow: At first, the Traveler has some victories against some major villains under their belt, winning a square fight against [[spoiler: Tartaglia and La Signora (who, while not as powerful as she once was, that was before she became a Harbinger.)]] While they receive assistance from the gods or a temporary power up against other threats, they did seem to be regaining the power they had in the intro cutscene. Starting with Chapter 2, they stop getting measurably stronger and only ever win boss fights with divine aid, and yet the scale of threats keeps getting larger. This comes to a head in Arlecchino's Story Quest, where [[spoiler: it's revealed that the Fatui are planning a large-scale operation in Natlan. That's where the only Gnosis they have yet to collect is. Yet in that same Story Quest, the Traveler is on the receiving end of a CurbStompBattle against the ''Fourth'' of the Fatui Harbingers. The first Three are even more powerful.]] As a consequence, it's easy to get a bit cynical about the tendency of the writers to bail the Traveler out of trouble rather than have them win of their own volition.
