* ClicheStorm: The film is chock-full of every action movie cliche most people have ever seen. If you want an explanation, look no further than Christopher Orr's review of the movie, in which he decides to just let it speak for itself by providing 40 of the lines that sum up the entire plot and all of the typical one-liners and plot points it has. It's really a shame though, considering it had some great actors who did the best they could with the material they were given. Then again, for fans of the movie, this could be exactly what they liked about it.
* CompleteMonster: Despite being willing to nuke (I mean "nano") several world metropolises, Destro manages to avoid this. Likewise, Zartan and Storm Shadow both come off as having redeemable qualities even as they do horrible things. The Doctor, however, is just pure psychosis.

** Considering that in the comics Storm Shadow turns out to have been good all along, and in the original script his last line was to be "It was not I who killed our master," there's nothing misaimed here. Storm Shadow really is that awesome. Being played by [[EvenTheGuysWantHim Byung-Hun Lee]] is just icing on the cake.

* AndTheFandomRejoices: LarryHama, writer of the beloved GI Joe comics, was a creative consultant on the film. He also had a cameo as a NATO general, but the close-up was cut in the final edit.

* AcceptableTargets: Averted; France's brutal treatment of Destro's ancestor is what pisses his entire family off. Played somewhat straight after the Paris sequence; [[spoiler:the French move in on the Joes with their equivalent of a SWAT team. And smack Ripcord in the face. And wreck their gear. Then say that the team is banished from the country. The French would rather lose a city.]]
