** While visiting the teacher in the Overload Manga Kaname, Kyoko, and Sasuke were surprised that she lived in such a run down place. It was quickly discovered that she spent all her money on [[CompanionCube antique plates]] that are so expensive she couldn’t afford rent. Sasuke in a combination of not being able to understand why someone would care so much about a simple object and his usual antics ended up destroying every one sending the teacher in a HeroicBSOD. After that moment it’s hard to see Sasuke as anything but a heartless {{Jerkass}}.

Gates also feeds on poorer eastern countries who don't receive aid of the capitalist or communist blocs by selling his art-of-the-state weapons to them, always speculating with "never balancing one side or the other". After reaching to a disagreement while dealing with an army Coronel who happens to be his customer, Gates orders he and all his men to be slaughtered right before him while he gleefully sings. Other numerous acts of violent cruelty continue to be perpetrated by this man, such as kidnapping diplomats during the Chinese cease-fire treat renovation and killing anyone who opposed his raid. Gates doesn’t show any respect for his subordinates' lives either, those who work for him withstand inhumane waves of abuse, and the threat of death is always constant. Even his CoDragons, the Xia Yu twins, grow to despise him. When they betray him by deliberately causing panic in Hong Kong, Gates spends the rest of the season hunting them down, while taunting them via radio. At the climax of the series, when Xia Yu Lan dies, Gates retrieves her corpse, preventing Leonard Testarossa from simply burying her, and brings it to Hong Kong, where she meets Xia Yu Fan. For mere amusement, he starts swinging the corpse around with his Arm Slave, imitating her until Yu Fan loses her composure and attacks him, only for Gates to brutally run her through with his monomolecular cutter. Though Gates' comic relief antics didn't hide his utterly perverse and vile nature, one should be grateful that this destructive, sadistic animal of a man didn't get too close to any of the main characters very often.

** [[PsychopathicManchild Mr. Gates,]] aka [[BadBoss Mister Kallium]], Gauron's successor and head of Amalgam's Execution Squad, is [[AxCrazy even crazier]] than his predecessor. In his first appearance, he shoves a man out of a helicopter for questioning his predictions about how a battle may have progressed, has all his former allies slaughtered, then has a FreakOut and kills the men who did it. He later tries to ambush the heroes and kill them, using an attack in a public place as a way to draw them out. He's a truly warped sexual predator as well; he's heavily implied to be taking advantage of teenage girls Yu Fan and Yu Lan, admits to being [[ILoveTheDead a necrophiliac,]] and is seen masturbating to images of kittens and squirrels. A spectacularly BadBoss, he drowns one of his men in a pool for bringing him bad news. In the Season 2 finale, after Leonard Tesstarossa has killed one of the twins, Gates uses her corpse as part of a puppet show to taunt the surviving twin, whom he then murders, before making his final assault on Mithril.

* BaseBreaker: [[spoiler: Nami's death in Invisible Victory.]] Was it a major surprise for a possible character to play a bigger role get abruptly killed off or was it just too abrupt and filled with wasted potential for a possible future role after the second arc of the season?

*** ''The Second Raid'' only made things worse; the storyline kicks off with Tessa ending Sosuke's bodyguard mission, denying him permission to explain or say goodbye to his friends, and then reaming him out in a debriefing, seemingly entirely because of her jealousy towards Kaname and frustration at Sosuke's lack of response -- all of which leads to Sosuke suffering a HeroicBSOD and subsequently deserting Mithril briefly. Eventually Tessa sees reason and improves, but some fans have a hard time letting this one go.

** [[AxCrazy Gauron,]] aka [[BloodKnight Mister Iron]], is [[TheHeavy the main villain]] of the first season of the show. A former mercenary from Hemaljistan (Afghanistan in the light novels) Gauron was the {{archenemy}} of main character, Sosuke Sagara, long before the series began. In flashback, we see that Gauron was responsible for killing all of Sosuke's comrades in Afghanistan. In the present day, Gauron kills a KGB agent he was working for when the man argues with him. He then hijacks an airliner after killing the captain, threatens to murder all the high-school students onboard if the authorities refuse to cooperate, and kidnaps Kaname, whom he has subjected to experiments. When that plan fails, Gauron returns months later, working as a [[NukeEm nuclear]] {{arms dealer}}. When Sosuke and his new team try to interfere, Gauron kills all of them except Sosuke, [[EvilGloating gloating]] the entire time. He later hijacks the Tuatha De Danaan submarine, planning, again, to kidnap Kaname, and threatening to sink the sub. That's in Season 1. In Season 2, we find out he's the one behind the actions of CreepyTwins [[BrainwashedAndCrazy Yu Fan and Yu Lan]], whom he sends to kill Kaname as a means of screwing with Sosuke, before blowing himself up in a final attempt at TakingYouWithMe. In all of his appearances, he is incredibly proud of the number of Sosuke's friends he has killed, constantly rubs it in his face, and seems to be trying to push Sosuke into [[DeathSeeker killing him]]. A truly sick individual, Gauron is engaged in a game of psychological warfare with a 16-year-old kid, all because of a warped StalkerWithACrush obsession.
