* DesignatedVillain: The park ranger is clearly an environmentalist who simply wants to protect Canada's natural wildlife. He is very nice and friendly to Thomas whenever they speak, and is willing to help the family learn how to care for the geese. He isn't even trying to do anything bad when he tries to pinion the geese, Amy just doesn't want the poor birds to be flightless. He's only doing what the law says he should in order to allow Amy to keep the geese. The shadiest thing he does the whole movie is take the geese when the family isn't home, and given their aggressive attitude towards him by that point, he probably rationalized that this was the best course of action. Seeing as how the family never has trouble with him again, its implied that, since the geese have a migration route and won't cause damage to themselves/others, he allowed them to keep the geese.
