* EnsembleDarkhorse: If there's any character people remember the most from this film, it's Weebo. Being voiced by [[WesternAnimation/TheLittleMermaid1989 Jodi Benson]] probably helps.

** Weebo's tendency to show little video clips to display her reactions and moods is a lot like people in the 2010's and 2020's doing the same with reaction [=GIFs=] on sites like Tumblr, Imgur, Twitter, and Facebook.

** A wedding ceremony conducted via teleconferencing, with the bride and/or groom visible only on a video-screen, might not be so beyond the pale anymore now, in the age of [[UsefulNotes/COVID19Pandemic coronabug]].

* DracoInLeatherPants: Wilson is often seen as the "perfect" husband for Sara; however, most people seem to forget or even ignore the fact that he never had any true feelings towards her.

* EsotericHappyEnding: The ending with Phillip attending wedding #4 from his lab by video proxy was supposed to be a cute, fitting end to the movie. Didn't quite work for many people. Whether it is seen as his half-thought method to attend a wedding or he was preparing their Thunderbird just outside the wedding ceremony.

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: While Phillip himself seems to believe otherwise, it isn't too much of a leap to wonder if he might have a [[AmbiguousDisorder genuine undiagnosed memory disorder]], especially considering the early scene where he's clearly having trouble recalling that he's even engaged, and that the rehearsal was the previous night. Creator/RogerEbert even opened his review of the movie by asking, "How absent-minded does a person have to be before they require clinical testing?"

** Magazine/NationalGeographic magazines appear in the dance sequence. Through acquiring [[Creator/TwentiethCenturyStudios 20th Century Fox]], Creator/{{Disney}} now owns both them and Creator/NationalGeographicChannel too.

* RonTheDeathEater: Despite what the DesignatedHero description mentions above, Phillip missing Sara's wedding often gets portrayed like he's doing it on purpose. The reality is that he's legitimately ''that'' much of an AbsentMindedProfessor; missing all of his marriages was purely accidental on his part (with, it's implied, some assistance from jealous Weebo). And he's practically a saint compared to [[Film/TheAbsentMindedProfessor his predecessor.]]

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The "Copacabana" [[BusbyBerkeleyNumber CGI dance number]], which was pretty much just made for the trailers and to pad time.

* {{Squick}}: The subplot with Weebo's lust for Phillip, progressing into creating [[KissMeImVirtual a sexy female hologram]] so she can act out her emotions for him physically when he's asleep, and finally the admission at the end of the film that, upon her death, she gave Phillip a copy of her design called "our daughter" with modifications based on both Weebo and ''him''. In case the analogy hasn't bludgeoned you hard enough, Weebo's [[spoiler: final]] thought that allows Phillip to find the file? The word ''stork''. It's made even squickier when you realize that -- since Brainard ''created'' Weebo -- technically speaking, ''she's in love with her father''.
