--> Sakura: By the way, the movie is supposedly about a MagicalGirl... but where exactly was the Magical Girl? I feel sorry for the person whose name is in the title.

** Illya's magical girl form is a popular depiction even amongst mainstream Fate Fans.

* MemeticBadass: in case you can't tell.

* SomeAnvilsNeedToBeDropped: The third episode of season 3 had Mimi becoming a YaoiFangirl, which weirds Ilya out. Suzuka's sister intervenes and tests Ilya by saying that if they can't reach an understanding, they might as well stop being friends. A guilty-feeling Ilya realizes that while she may not be into yaoi herself, that's no reason to break a friendship.

A guilty-feeling Ilya realizes that while she may not be into yaoi herself, that's no reason to break a friendship. It's especially poignant given that the show has a lot of older male Fate fans that are into yuri themselves, and see that aspect as an appeal of this show, but are otherwise aversive to yaoi.

* ShipTease: Of the non-yuri variety, we have:
** Gilgamesh: it's hard not to see his teasing of Chloe and Illya as flirting. Double points when he does it toward Chloe when he is naked. This is morbidly hilarious considering his mainline relationships with their respective characters. Remember "the doctor" scene in UBW?
** Shirou: it be easier to list people who aren't teased with Shirou though the most subtle probably goes to Sella, with even her own sister and Shirou's mother basically trying to pimp her out to him. In the manga, Rin has the most ship tease; she has been the focus of many side chapters that focusing on her relationship with Shirou that no one else has had. Although one such chapter introduces this world's Sakura and gives Shirou a ship tease with her.
** . He's been shipped with .

** There's quite the large divide over how 3rei was handled, especially over whether the arc's CerebusSyndrome an improvement or not. * TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Shirou. He goes from the primary lead of Fate/stay night to a disposable side character with no impact on the main plot. Shirou's lack of knowledge about magecraft and the Moonlight World, means he's limited to comedic antics. Even if they didn't focus on his mainline self's tragic circumstances or ChronicHeroSyndrome, the series could have at least had him as a support character a la Tuxedo Mask, helping Illya and friends from afar with his limited skills. Considering the deal with both Shirou and , it's ironic that his role is more fit to have him called "Illya's brother" than by his actual name due to his sidelined status.

** Still others are simply tired of 3rei's considerably more serious tone regardless of the characters involved, which the current arc has only exacerbated further. Previously, 3rei had paced its more serious drama and action with a plentiful sprinkling of comedy and Fanservice in between, even showing (Faux) AffablyEvil side, and if pacing didn't allow for such breaks there were often purely comedic side-chapters to give the reader a break. In contrast, this story has seen CerebusSyndrome in full effect, being a nonstop TraumaCongaLine for approaching levels of bleakness that wouldn't be out of place in Heaven's Feel or LightNovel/FateZero, and without a single side chapter and hardly any appearances by the regular cast to break the tension. You'd find it hard to believe the series started as a lighthearted love letter to the MagicalGirl genre.
*** Thankfully, the flashback is over, and even lampshaded how long it was.

** Even if some fans believe his arc has overstayed its welcome, it almost unanimously agreed that is made of pure awesomeness. Some have gone as far as to claim him to be one of the best incarnations of the character, rivaling if not surpassing even the likes of UBW and Heaven's Feel Shirou, but even Archer himself.
