Added DiffLines:

* HypeBacklash: The game in recent years is getting stronger criticism for its plot, being seen as becoming incoherent and convoluted as it goes on.

Added DiffLines:

* UnfortunateImplications: The entire Asylum sequence gets really hard to look at if you have more than a mass-media level knowledge of how mental institutions are run and the plight of the mentally ill in general. As Pat from WebVideo/TwoBestFriendsPlay put it; "Run! The crazy people are out! Most of whom probably suffer from non-violent mental illnesses!"

* DisappointingLastLevel: A story, rather than gameplay-based example. There's a reason why Yahtzee calls this phenomenon "Indigo Prophecy syndrome".

* DisappointingLastLevel: A story, rather than gameplay-based example. The last third of the game's plot is infamous for being weird at best and incoherent at worst. There's a reason why Yahtzee calls this phenomenon "Indigo Prophecy syndrome".

** Bellevue Asylum's door system for some reason opens all of the doors when the power fails. Despite Claire's gameplay there essentially showing us that all of the inmates in there could lash out and hurt someone at the first opportunity, for some reason the doors open during power outages instead of staying shut in case someone is in the patient area when the power fails.

* UnfortunateImplications: Mental hospital patients are depicted as being literally exactly like zombies- down to having a ZombieGait. Their first instinct upon finding a woman in the dark is to (implied, at least) rape her to death...

* ScrappyMechanic: One of the features hyped in advance was that the game would not allow you to repeatedly pump characters for information in conversations, and what you got out of them would be limited. In the actual game this ends up being pointless and annoying rather than enhancing immersion for several reasons:
** You always get the minimum information necessary to proceed to the same next plot point, so what you choose to ask about amounts to flavour text.
** You do not get any indication of how much you are allowed to ask at any point. Suddenly one of the people talking simply decides to end the conversation. Usually this is for no apparent reason, not because they get annoyed, tired, have to hurry elsewhere or some other valid reason.
** Half of the game you play as detectives investigating a murder, where it would be completely justified to keep questioning witnesses and suspects for as long as you feel necessary.
* Squick: .
* StrangledByTheRedString: .

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Tyler, despite the UnfortunateImplications below, is one of the few major characters that is generally well received by the fans. One of the reasons could be .

* UnfortunateImplications: Detective Tyler Miles' personal soundtrack and sport of choice (for avoiding paying back loans) could be viewed as this.
** Also:
-->Book store owner: I was born in Brooklyn, man. I never been no further than Long Island. Hey, I'm more American than you are, man!
** Mental hospital patients are depicted as being literally exactly like zombies- down to having a ZombieGait. Its shockingly insensitive.
*** Let's not forget that their first instinct upon finding a woman in the dark is to (implied, at least) rape her to death...
