None of the statements under Ho Yay can be proven, and Paul Gross\' statements are always being taken out of context. So I think it should just say Ho Yay

* HoYay (which the show's writers were ''quite'' well aware of, especially by the time Ray Kowalski showed up. Two words for you: "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0I3TdsLwM3Q buddy breathing]]")
** In fact during the lead up to the third season Paul Gross, who had just become the producer in addition to playing Fraser, commented that the slashers would love Kowalski ('He's sex on legs') and the pair's relationship. They weren't just aware of the HoYay, they played along with it.
*** Hell, it ended with them ''riding into the sunset together''.
*** It was also acknowledged by Gross at some point that because the show's third season wasn't going to air in United States, they could ramp up the {{Ho Yay}}.

Some ad hominem rudeness in the Ho Yay and Yaoi Fangirl entries that I thought it better to remove.

** That's because the stories are written by immature girls who don't understand that dS is wonderful without slash!

**** Where is the interview that has Paul Gross saying this? In the only interview I've seen with him that mentioned slash, he didn't know what it was until the interviewer showed him a slash story, and then he found slash to be ridiculous, so it's highly unlikely he "ramped up the HoYay." Please stop telling lies about the show!
*** I really haven't seen any source that shows that the HoYay was deliberate in the third and fourth seasons, or that the writers were aware of it. That's just speculation from those who like F/K.

This is on YMMV. I just see favoritism in the last seasons of \"Due South\" for Kowalski by the writers and producer.

Added DiffLines:

* CreatorsPet: Ray Kowalski, who is praised by Welsh and Fraser for his wonderful service record in the Chicago PD, and is told by Fraser that he would be "proud to be his friend" not long after he and Fraser met. The actor was even ''hand-picked '' by Paul Gross to be Kowalski because he was Paul Gross's friend in Canada! And during Season 3, Ray Vecchio, by contrast, was believed to be corrupt and a murderer, probably to make Kowalski look even better.

** That is correct an unloaded gun would still be seen as illegal under Chicago law. However as a RCMP Officer he would be permitted to carry a loaded firearm in the States. Fraser should have been well aware of this considering his familiarity with all the laws.
