* FairForItsDay: Quarrel was seen as a very progressive Black character at the time the film came out, as he is a competent and loyal informant for the CIA who accompanies Bond in StormingTheCastle. He still has loads of fans today, but modern viewers have been known to be put off by his being more fearful than Bond and the scene where Bonds tells him to carry his shoes.

** TruthInTelevision. Most criminal gangs of he 50's and 60's, due to the widespread racism, were almost always made up of a similar race or ethnic background. Even today you can see the same pattern repeated with the likes of the Hispanic and black gangs of California for example. For a man living in that day and age it really wasn't that much of a leap to suggest that the Chinese Dr No would favour Chinese members.

** In the book Honey has the physical body and urges of a fully-grown woman but the mentality and naivety of a child. This is also combined by the fact that she never went to school, raised herself after being orphaned at a very young age and had little to no regular human contact. The problem with the film is that they keep in the key scenes from the book such as the battle with the tank, but leave out the context as to why an adult would be so easily fooled by such a pathetic forgery.

''Film/{{Goldfinger}}''.

!!The novel
* UnfortunateImplications: How does Bond know that Miss Taro is on Dr. No's payroll? She's Chinese, so of course she's working for him, like everyone else in the island with Chinese ancestry in them.

* CriticalResearchFailure: A minor but rather jarring moment from the otherwise quite good film. When the script reads, "That's a Smith & Wesson, and you've had your six!", it's probably a good idea to make sure the man Bond is saying this to is holding a ''revolver''. Not a Colt M1911, one of the most recognisable ''semi-automatic pistols'' ever made and which almost everyone knows has a ''seven'' round magazine.

* DesignatedHero: Honey, who is consistently ranked as the "best Bond girl", but when you think about it, doesn't really say or do anything remarkable (her entrance aside). She certainly does far less than other Bond Girls on the "best" list, but seems to have earned her number one placement simply by virtue of being the first.
** Her lack of action is mostly down to the fact that she does not even show up until the 3rd and final act whether that justifies this trope or not is another matter and she still doesn't do all that much anyway, except give Bond an excuse to explain whats going on as well as someone to rescue.
** To be fair, she did look very good in that insanely iconic white bikini, and she has good chemistry with Bond.
