While completely innocuous at first sight, this fact becomes a lot harsher once one reads the multi-part story "Me and My Shadow" on Kevin Smith's blog. In fact during this time, Jason Mewes was a pretty bad heroin addict, and would sometimes fall asleep during takes. Even worse, the end credits congratulate Jason: "See? Sober living paid off" because at the time, Jason was doing heroin while successfully pretending to be sober.
